Great video! 🌟 Thanks for giving us a peek into what the lessons, course material and teachers are like. KAI seems like a lovely school and I reeeally hope I can actually go there in October 🤞

@@gotofantasy *is. I’m actually still here and have class later today. It’s almost 2am so I need to get some sleep 😅 Anyway, I don’t even know where to begin! Overall it’s just been a positive experience and I’ve essentially went from 0 to around N3-ish level Japanese so far and this covers speaking, reading, writing, etc. It can be admittedly taxing but I can safely say I have no regrets. Not to mention the staff are friendly and genuinely do care about each individual student as a human being instead of another money bag. One time, around the time I arrived, I had a bit of a health scare and the staff not only setup a clinic appointment for me but even had a staff member come with me to help translate. I’m not used to having health issues let alone in a country where I could barely communicate with anyone so it was pretty scary (turns out I was fine, probably was stress). I’m genuinely thankful for Kai in many ways. Good night / morning 😴

Sounds like a hell of a deal at the intermediate level. Close to $7k and a surefire way to get into Japan and acquire higher proficiency in the language. Love the classroom environment.

GIck på Kai 2012-2013. Har väldigt fina minnen från den tiden. Bor fortfarande i Tokyo…gift, barn, hund. Lycka till med studierna :)

Thank you for making this video. I am planning on studying in Japan but am deliberating on whether to choose Kai or ISI and also how long to go for. I am leaning towards ISI because of the conversational practice that they provide. As you mentioned, Kai doesn't seem to do a lot of this. This is a frequent criticism in the reviews. ISI also seem to have their own student housing while Kai students seem to rely on house shares, home stays or finding their own accommodation. I would like to get fluent at Japanese and stay for 2 years but the cynic in me says that it wouldn't be very useful unless I decided I wanted to stay in Japan. I think the only use you would get out of it back in Europe careerwise would be either as an interpreter or Japanese teacher. A year seems ideal as it is not too big a commitment time- or financewise and it keeps the experience fun. I expect I will forget quite a bit of the language skills if I do not regularly practice so if I go with the intention of enjoying a new experience I will not regret going, even if I forget some Japanese later on. Did you forget much Japanese after you left and have you found many opportunities to use it careerwise or recreationally in Sweden?

Oh man I'm a little intimindated after watching this now. I wanted to go to Kai aswell. But .. I always was a mess in school here in Canada. So I don't think I'll have the tools to keel up. I may look for a slower program now or .. fuck it and jump in head first. Either way. Thank you for the video. It was very insightful.
@FishSlappee2 жыл бұрын
I get the intimidation, it can seem a bit scary at first, but you get the hang of the study pace eventually. Some people had to do a level again because they didn't pass, and that was totally fine to do. That said, there are other language schools with slower pace (I think GoGoNihon has a nice rundown of the intensity of most schools). Thanks for the comment and good luck!! ^^

Hi! I'm intending on studying in Japan during 2024 for a year following my high-school graduation and preceding my university studies. At the moment I'm browsing schools, and your coverage of KAI in this video is brilliant, but the big issue is I would rather stay in Osaka (growing up in Australia makes me a bit hesitant to leap straight into Tokyo, which I hear is more crowded and less friendly than Osaka). What are your experiences between the two cities? Do you know of any good schools in Osaka or anyone who has spent time there? Thanks (:

One thing I learned how much the word “Man” is used. For example, Jag ar man. “I am a man.” Min man fran Sverige. “My husband is from Sverige. The word “Man” except, with the umlaut over the “a” meaning “Men.” And the word “Man “ but being used in a general or neutral sense. For example, “Man tar vad man har. “ You take what you have or “one has.” Note: not making a bad masculinity joke, I just noticed how many different ways the word “Man” is used in Swedish.

when you made the joke about having someones head cut-off, I was like okay thats a little too far. Maybe your potential serial killer, then when you said you were from Sweden I was like... oh, okay, he's just Swedish.

What did you need to get into the school?for example did you need any qualifications for prom school or any Japanese experiance?also did you write an essay to get in or just answer a few questions,if you can make a video about the application process that would be perfect

Where you on a student visa and to qualify for it did you need to have paid the school upfront?
@FishSlappee2 жыл бұрын
I was there on a student visa, yeah! And I think I had the option to pay the tuition for one term at a time if I needed, but I paid for 9 months in one go (I extended my stay at Kai for one more term because I didn't want to go back to Sweden haha ^^)
