My LEAST Favorite Foundations of 2023!

I detest foundations that have too much yellow in them. Actually, one of the most challenging things in finding good foundations is finding the right match that makes one’s skin look healthy instead of ill. I do best with a neutral shade, but too many are way too warm. That in itself makes the foundation a fail.

Yesssss!! I feel this! 🤗 I'm gonna keep on trying as hard as I can to grow my channel so I can reach the companies making these foundations and tell them that NEUTRAL and OLIVE Undertoned foundation-wearers need shades as well! ❤️😘❤️

I absolutely love that six dollar wet and wild Hydrating Tinted whatever… It looks beautiful on my dry skin . I am a light neutral. When I say light, I’m at the end of the lights. Therefore, sometimes I may have to do a light medium. I was at the store with the wet and wild, and the shade match, which is best for me is actually Med Tan which is something I would never ever choose . Out of the 20 complexion products that I have none of them are medium 10 and only two or three or light medium … the majority are light neutral. Moral of the story, you have to choose your shade in the store … Shade problems aside. It is a beautiful, beautiful product. Did I mention it’s six bucks?

I’m really trying to be more conscious of where my time goes in 2024. Fussy products can’t be it for me! I couldn’t get that shiseido to work for me either. I was in between shades aside from the wear. Happy holidays, Jenny!

I’ve had that Shiseido Foundation in my Sephora basket forever but something always stopped me from buying it. The worst foundation I tried this year was Monika Blunder. The reviews were so good but to me that stuff is library paste! I tried and tried (mixed it with things) but finally gave up.

I love the original Shiseido Synchro Skin on my mature dry skin. I apply with my fingers and NO MORE than 1 pump. Very easy to use too much and then it looks heavy.

This made me smile; it's like my life-story in 5 won't-work foundations, LOL. I'm so glad to have found a few that worked well for me, but overall I regret nearly every penny I spent on foundation in 2023. Maybe it just wasn't the year for us drier-skinned gals, despite all the claims of "glow" and "radiance." Who knows? I wasn't laughing AT you, Jenny, but WITH you, sometimes it's the only way to make the best of a sucky situation. Thanks for sharing the good, the bad, the beautiful, and the Norm. Hi there! 🤗 Thanks for your question! ❤️ It appears that Neutrogena still sells their HydroBoost tint, so I don't believe it's been discontinued. However, after reading your comment, I realized that I haven't seen the Hydroboost tint in my local drugstore, since they put out the new serum tint... which is a bummer, since the HydroBoost is an excellent foundation too! After a needed break from social media, I was SO excited to see this video waiting for me!! It amazes me how much our makeup tastes align with each other. We also have a similar hair cut and color!! Even though I stopped buying high end makeup, I will splurge on foundations. I actually purchased the Shiseido foundation, and had exactly the same experience. I tried several times, thinking it was user error.... but it just did not work on my skin, so I returned it. I also couldn't find a shade of the Laura Gellar powder foundation many years ago, and since it has become popular again, I thought I might try it again. So thank you helping me remember my experience. I am convinced that this is your year for your channel to grow!! So I hope everyone will click the "like" button and keep these videos in the YT rotation. Whenever there is a foundation I want to try, I will watch many videos on it before purchasing. I'm hoping and praying that people will start using your videos as a reference point! I will also say, I wouldn't mind more full face tutorials, just because I have great respect for your makeup and skincare knowledge. You have been such a breath of fresh air for me personally, my sweet friend!!!❤❤❤ PS I really like the Elf powder foundation, if I'm in a huge hurry and I have some issues needed coverage!

Enjoyed this very much. I’ve been very leery of the Laura Geller. She creates for mature customers but I do not trust that powder is best for my skin. Just no. Every instinct tells me no. Too dry, too powdery. I don’t use powder blush or bronzer any more and barely use setting powder. I am surprised about the Shideido. That gets HG rave reviews. Your perspective is helpful. The one KZbinr who raves the most about this is a younger woman so maybe it does not work well on those of us with texture.

I have a few powder foundation (very few!) that I absolutely love, but as I get older, they are much harder to find! 🙃 If you're not a fan of powdery type products, I think you are very wise to steer clear of the Laura Gellar, although I do know that she's come out with a liquid foundation... I had a bad experience with Radiant Shiseido foundation too! It made my face feel tight. I have dry skin. The shade wasn't great and looked smooth initially but it was not dewy and was flat like you described. The Radiant name is very deceptive.

I feel like so many companies the past couple of years have been doing a disservice to themselves by naming foundations "radiant" that are clearly matte. I love all things Too Faced...except this foundation. I found the colors did not match the Born this Way...and it was just slimy. Separated in the bottle and no amount of shaking well helped. I pitched it.

Question. Did you wear primer’s under these foundations? If so, what type of primer, silicone based, hydrating, matifying etc? It would be great to know for reference, especially as I’m not a primer wearing person. Thank you ❤

Thanks so much for asking this great question! ❤️ Unless I specify in a video that I'm using a primer, then I am just using my regular skincare (moisturizer, serum, etc.) underneath. The more I get into my channel though, the more I am trying NOT to use ANY primers underneath, as I really want to get a feel for how the foundation works on its own, with simple moisturized skin. Unless I know it's something that is just going to be WAY to dry for my skin and I need a little extra moisture. Also, I have a few primers that I enjoy, but for the most part, I'm not a huge "primer person." Thanks again for your great question!! ❤️ Have a wonderful week! 🤗

The IT cosmetics cc cream was by far the worst foundation I tried this year. It looked terrible and the fragrance never went away

I found the syncro skin foundation broke up HORRIBLY on me. As did the Gucci. All the Gucci colours were BRIGHT YELLOW regardless of buying cool or neutral undertone. It made me look like I had liver failure. I'm sticking with Tom Ford traceless soft matte foundation. That stuff is faultless

@twoleftfeet and bryndabaker, Yessss!!! I sat there swatching the Gucci foundation for so long! If I remember correctly, the different shades had names like cool, neutral, and warm in them, but everything I swatched just looked peach or yellow! 🫣 It's so frustrating for neutral or olive toned foundation-wearers, but I'm gonna keep on fighting to get our voices heard! ❤️

Why do luxury brands put fragrance/perfume in their face products? I don’t get it…. Fragrances are made from alcohol, which is only going to make the product irritate the skin. Never mind the nauseating perfume smell. .. I received a lovely Estée Lauder skin care set which I have used before because the products are lovely ! However, the fragrance reminds me of my grandmother’s 1960 Estee Lauder red door perfume… so strong. The night creams are so thick and emollient. How ever I first application they burn my sensitive skin… it’s a shame

Yessss! It's so frustrating because there are so many good foundations and skin care items out there that I know so many of my viewers won't be able to use simply because of the fragrance! 🤦🏻‍♀️ Consumers have become so savvy to ingredients and skincare in the past few years especially, thanks to platforms like KZbin.... I'm hoping that they will start to phase out fragrance for complexion related products as they start to hearing more of us say that we prefer them to be fragrance-free! ❤️🙏🏻
