Very helpful. We have xps from august september 2019. Have the 10 ah LG batteries. Just started ride a lot more now. Didnt leave on the charger and so far batteries are ok. Also, only charge batteries to 75% vs. 100%

I think it’s foolish to only charge to 75%. You’ll lose 25% of the range every time. The gentleman makes the better suggestion which is charge to 100% just before you are ready to go for ride.
@thomasdipaolo23492 жыл бұрын
@@gimpman1357 yes, you can do that. Since i never know how long the bike will sit before being ridden, better for the battery to keep it between 50-75% and occasion charge to 100% to equalize the cells

Good video. Our late 2019 lectrics are having issues with low voltage cut off. Charges to about 52-53v runs fine till 48.6v and then all of a sudden pulling more than 1-3 amps the bikes goes error code 6 and shuts off. 6 is low voltage. The voltage sag was never this extreme until very recently. I suspect some of our cells have degraded just like in your video. I think I'll be trying to rig up some packs to the rack though. No patience for slow boat shipping. Or it's time to get a spot welder.

Right on man, I still want to fix it, but I wanted to have one incase I jacked it up. I will buy some cells and give it a go. if not I can turn the cells into a UPS or a Generator, or maybe build another Bike. Thanks for the comment, I didn't think I was the only one.

Battery management is simple. Don’t leave your Lectric battery fully charged (54v) or depleted (43v) for a long period of time. ie. for more than a day or two. Best to charge to 100% just before you plan to go out for a ride and after you deplete the battery let it cool then charge it up to 50% (48v) for storage. If you leave it fully charged for a long period of time the battery loses capacity. If you leave it fully depleted for a long time and the voltage drops below 40v (3v per cell) there is a risk you may not be able to charge the battery again.

Yes I said if you plan to storage the bike for like the winter or something to get the battery in storage mode which is like a little below 50%. This is the same as the manufacturer do before Shipping the bike. I put a chart up showing the storage voltage. What I wanted to show in the video was that the battery take some care to have a longer life.
@tekolicious83102 жыл бұрын
@@danimayb Yeah, I was saying if you plan on storing the bike, then the battery should be put in storage mode. I think it is something like you should be putting the bike on a charger every couple of months to maintain the battery also. Lifepo4 batteries seem to be more resilient, but are heavier/ larger but have a more stable chem. Plus they last a long time.

Doesn't the stock Lectric battery charger stop charging when the battery is full?

I find your videos very informative and helpful...I’m looking for some help with my HeyBike Mars...I would like to install a volt meter and am looking for guidance on the task...would you possibly have any ideas...thank you...

well I don't have that bike, but from the pictures I would say the controller for the bike is where the bike folds. The battery power goes to the controller before the motor. so if you can find the power leads you can splice into those and run it to a display or make a test point.

I had the same.problem wotb a step through lectric bike. After going around and around it ended up the BMS was shot. The summer desert heat here has its way with circuit boards. You can purchase a new one and hook it up woth ease. Roughly 15$
