It was a PAX Unpluged Release! They kept it under wraps until Day 1 at PAX Unpluged. The Demo and Playthoughs on the spot had it selling like crazy.

Whoa. How does it compare/contrast to the excellent Creature Comforts? Hoping this has some excitement or elements to keep kids engaged. I find that kids’ strategy games sometimes just don’t keep kids at the table like adults can be engaged by the thinky part of games. Looks like it is reading dependent?

Hi, Happy New Year, I can't stop thinking this game has a considerable similarity to "Creatures Comforts". Am I wrong ? Is there a reason to own both ? Thanks

I feel like there is very little comparison besides both being worker placement with cute animal art. Creature comforts is MUCH heavier in my opinion (2.34 vs 1.67 on bgg, regular everdell is 2.8). In creature comforts you have limited information about where you are going to be able to place before you commit your workers, so there is push your luck with the possibility you will waste a worker without being able to activate a spot.( You do get a lesson if you can't activate) The resources available change throughout the game , so you have to plan ahead with what is likely to show up in the different seasons. The visitor changes every round which usually gives you a new way to trade for resources. There is more round up keep as well. In total I feel if you are able to play creature comforts you might as well just play regular everdell. Not that I don't want all 3 in my collection because they are all great and sometimes I just want something light and easy to set up, so I'll probably pick this one up as well. :) (Full disclosure I haven't played my lil everdell yet)

We don’t have one planned for the public, but we do live events with our Patrons! It’s a smaller group so easier to manage than a public thing, and also with the kids we usually have interruptions and whatnot so it’s more informal.

If creature comforts wasn't around I'd get this game. But creature comforts does exist and much rather play that game then this one.

For 6 year olds? Yeah, no! It's a money-making lie they have been accustomed to promoting. The publishers and designers of Everdell had an excellent game with the base game; however, when they saw the Kickstarter $$$ they were raking in, it quickly turned into a money-making machine and a bloated mess of a game. And this is coming from a fan and backer until I received the Big Box Collector's Edition. While token-punching, sorting, sleaving my Big Box I finally realized "what is this mess?!". Now it is sitting tucked into a closet (not even a part of my game collection shelves because of its insane size) waiting for the day I have the time to sell it off.

Oh no! I’m sorry you had a bad experience, we only got the expansions we felt would add value for us personally. This version is definitely appropriate for 6+ and as a mom I’m definitely recommending to my friends. I would NOT recommend if you don’t have kids to play with!
