Noooo I'd rather hear the Live Steam model run. Especially the last bit running on track.

If it was mine I would vent the exhaust up the chimney, look more realistic

I've always been fascinated by steam engines but I'm defiantly no expert, I have wanted to purchase one for a long time but I'm a bit put of by the complexity compared to electric rc which is my current hobby. This is a beautiful machine, I love how all the moving drive parts(gears etc.) are exposed, love the brass and metal parts unlike the mostly plastic rc today. Is this by any chance a beginner friendly machine for someone new to steam engines? And if so when you purchase one does it come with a manual to guide you.

Yes, it is beginner friendly, but for the price I would recommend saving the extra £250 and buying a Roundhouse Engineering locomotive. Mamod's build quality is questionable, I myself have had a number of issues with the Brunel. This includes leaking gas fittings and the pressure gauge pipe falling off. However, these are easy engines to work on, and it's difficult to make mistakes with them. You can't mess up the timings on them, they're set.

The mamod or MSS locomotives are pretty easy to use
