Hi Jimmy, I'm Roger and can completely agree on learning to ride in the grass as that's how I did it. I also began holding 2lb weights in each hand as that kind of gave me better equalibrium. I am 76 yrs old and have learned to ride a mini lite Segway.....now with over 1000mi on it. Purchased a ks14s from Jason in Jan and took over 2 months to truly ride it. I would usually only try it once or twice a day for about 10-15 minutes because my stamina was very low and I seemed to expend so much energy. But FINALY I began staying on for 50-60 feet at a time and then 300ft. What a thrill....I was beginning to think I wouldn't learn how to do it. I now have over 100 miles on it and have ridden 22 miles on one journey. I wanted to subscribe to your posts but can't seem to figure out how. My best to you and yours from Florida. By the way, I no longer need the weights for stability...lol.

Awesome, hope you're still at it? Unfortunately here in Malaysia there is no smooth grass outside of a football pitch. Even parks, the lawns around the library and so on are actually ankle-breaking traps of holes, tree roots, soggy bits, more holes and hidden rocks. You can't even walk in the stuff let along ride a wheel!
@camman194
@camman194 11 ай бұрын
Bigglyguy, yes still at it. Am now 80yrs old. Purchased a Kingston 16X because the 14" wheel only went 19mph and then tipped back. The 16" wheel will go 30mph. I don't ride that fast but do like to cruise at 23-26mph. Rail trails and bike paths are plentiful in the area and you can go pretty log distances on them. A 25mi ride is readily available here if you explore and find them. My longest ride extended from the end of a 16mi rail trail into the country roads for about another 9mi for a total round trip of around 50mi. The wheel was barely moving at 6mph in the end and I was afraid it would dump me but but got back safely. I was tired but elated at my accomplishment. Riding is now no more difficult than riding a bicycle. Once your brain wraps around the balancing you don't even think about it. It took me around 600-1000mi to get this comfortable though. Happy trails to you.

@@camman194 Awesome! Sounds like you've nailed it nicely! I have a 3 year old replacement knee (I'm 56; it eventually wore out from a motorcycle accident when I was a teenager) and there are no cycle paths around here, so my main goal is just to take on the challenge of mastering the thing, then do a few laps around the local park, doing the same route that takes me about an hour to walk. It's a beautiful park, with lots of little footpaths all over the place. Once I have mastered it then it will be the family wheel, to teach friends and family, but I won't use it for transport. Lots of people ride small motorbikes here and I'd just be getting in their way. Yesterday was my 2nd attempt and now I'm nursing a very sore finger! It was 3 fingers but the other 2 have recovered already, this one is still sore and swollen. I have the same wheel, a 16X. I've ordered some leg pads to grip it better. Thanks for the reply :)

Good discussion; I'm now anxiously awaiting delivery of my first wheel. I've seen quite a few videos where people are trying to learn in parking lots & so forth, and the EUC goes clattering across the cement everytime they lose control. I have often thought "why don't they do this on grass?" Your approach makes sense to me. Thanks.

Hi Jimmy love all your vids. I have a dilemma between buying an euc or onewheel xr I can only afford one. On paper the euc is faster better range more practical but I think I'd enjoy the onewheel more. I'm worried about Hill performance as where I live has a lot of incline. What's your veiw on the matter. Does the onewheel struggle with hills. Look forward to your reply keep uploading great content 🤙

Hi, I watched many of your videos, started learning v5f in my basement on carpeted floor- now after 18 months I have 550 miles on my v11 and close to 700 miles on the v5f! Next thing I am challenging myself to do is learn to ride off a curb- so I watched your videos with Law Laxina- very helpful footage- slow is smooth and smooth is fast- max speed for me so far is 22 mph- but Id rather have more skills than more speed no backwards riding nor seated riding yet either..Ride On

I wish I had options like these. I live in the concrete jungle of Manhattan. I had a little spot in the park that was pretty hidden where I'd ride early on weekends to learn my PEVs. But that area is full of sleeping people now (I'm a female by myself - no chances although they're likely harmless) and they hand out tickets at that park. So I had to learn my EUC in my building's corridor and now on the sidewalks of the city. I haven't taken on the street yet.

The first thing a user needs to learn is to trust that the unicycle will hold you up. It took me about 3 minutes to get where I rant falling and anther Hour to get comfortable. However i have been riding a conventional unicycle for 50 years. My brother ergo also rides a unicycle never mastered the electric version. His girlfriend with my help took about 10 minutes to learn.

Another new Avenue you have taken called the ONE UNICYCLE. OW can't be the ONLY WHEEL that you can ride JIM 😀👌 Your so fortunate to have so many trails and parks all around you to choose from👍. Cherry Creek Trail for one and Cottonwood Park East with the New Found " ICE RINK " for another👍. Here in NY we have parks but not like the selection you have of course😉. My street is narrow and the traffic would make it hard for me to ride like you down a wide street like E. Maplewood. Just that street alone says there is a nice park nearby 😎👍

Hey! Do You also get that "What the heck is this?" stares when You roll on the streets ? :D KingSong devices are awesome. I've got my 16S (previous one was Ninebot One E+) and it fullfills my needs of speed and range . 35 km/h forces the rider to maximum focus but I'm usually keeping safe 25 km/h :) You gave a good tips for new EUC riders to learn on soft surfaces. KingSong wheels are good wheels when You know how to ride - for practicing - Ninebot One is a champ, because it's a "tank". I've had severe crash riding down the hill (torn wrists) on it, and it rolled few times, finally it turned off. All damage the wheel get was some scratches, but nothing more. 16S frame is more fragile- my bro crashed on it at the concrete surface (not a big crash) and the interior case cracked, he had to dissasemble whole unit to glue damaged parts inside. In conclusion - Ninebot One for learning , KingSong for riding :) Great video !

You mentioned damaging the e-uni several times. Is it that easy to damage to the point that it doesn't function properly? With OW, everyone always talks about how durable it is. Is the EU safer than the OW? As an aside, I ride an e-bike, and a pretty fast one at that and followed an EU for a while the other day. It was surprisingly quick!
@freshlycharged
@freshlycharged 5 жыл бұрын
Oh, EUC's can be fast and they seem pretty darn safe and stable for the most part. When I mention damage, i just mean scuffing up the exterior and the foot plates. Some people don't like to damage their brand new baby.
