Naval management isn't intuitive, which is a flaw in design. You would think that all you had to do was to click on portraits like you would with armies. However, it's easy once you learn which button to press. Zoom out so you can manually mouse drag over the fleets and press G (or use the Merge button). If the fleets are too far away to select together, move them to the same port (you need to choose the fleet and press Select All to order them to move instead of assigning mission zones).

That was great. I did a French Empire just last weekend. However, after Belgium and Netherlands, I did not attack the Brits and instead prepared to defend Czechoslovakia. The War against the Axis was over quite quick, in the End the UK even helped a bit and then I turned on them ... Which would also have been over quickly but then the US decided to intervene and be another major in that war. So yeah, smashing the Allies early seems to be the better option

At the start of the game as france I really like switching garrison type to local autonomy, it helps a bit. When you change ideology tho, you have to switch to something, as local autonomy will disappear and leave you with no garrison at all.

28:08 I'm French and I can guarantee you that I have never heard of France trying to give citizenship to people in the colonies. The only exception beeing Algeria because it was not perceived as a "classic" colony but more as a real french territory that needed to be fully integrated. This explains why the decolonisation of Algeria have been so difficult (triggered a war) and so long to happen. There have been attemps to do that, especially with the Blum-Violette project (represented in the focus tree). The other exceptions are, of course, our actual overseas territories where people have the same citizenship than people in metropolitan France. (There's still some laws that can be different to adapt to the specificities of the territory). Maybe you've heard of Charles de Gaulle's project of "French Union" but it was after WWII and it was already to late to happen. But if it happened, it would in fact have lead to citizenship in the colonies with true representatives in the parliament.

You can also tell that it was considered a full part of France when you visit the cities there (I have visited Algiers and Constantine), in some places you really feel like you're in France (in terms of architecture and buildings, even if it appears quite old and rustic). You can also tell that by how well French is spoken there, with a very accurate accent, I was in fact surprised when I saw that Algeria was not in the "La Francophonie" organization as most people there will tell you "No English, Arabic or French". It's quite sad that the French policy in Algeria was not an equality policy, but a segregation one. I know that Charles de Gaulle in his quite famous speech admittedly said that everyone is now french, but it came sadly too late, the war was already going on. There is also the fact that, Citizenship was handed to Algerian Jews but not Algerian Muslims, which really didn't help things there. Maybe I'm wrong but, had France treated everybody equally in Algeria, it would probably still be a core part of France. And we would have a nice chunk of Europe sitting there in Africa !

When it was decided to give citizenship, religious groups had to choose whether they wanted to keep the old religious status or give it up to get citizenship.
