Very cool man. I finally have one of these arriving tomorrow and, quite frankly, I’m as giddy as the proverbial kipper! Lovely sounds dude, a new sub here for thee 👍

Superb, i love the first. I think you won't answer that but where to find sounds like this first one ? Thanks in advance
@Genshi2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the kind words. Most of the sounds I create from scratch myself, with occasional help from a VST or my hardware synths. The first one I don't even remember completely, other than I was playing around with some kitchen utensils (whisk, colander, etc.) and the synthy part was probably Omnisphere VST.

These are incredible; very inspiring, and for that I thank you. All are amazing, Reel Six is my favorite, really reminds me of Thomas Newman's work, but.. better..

So good. Ethereal and shapeshifting, yet undeniably musical. Morphagene + Clouds is the most amazing combo.

Thank you so much for that! And yes, Morphagene + Clouds is definitely turning out to be my favorite combo.

Fantastic. I’m going to try the splice free method with some interesting sound design. Splicing does add another layer of complexity that is perhaps not always needed.

Wow this is awesome! Quick question, I currently use a moog grandmother and would like to incorporate Morphagene + Clouds in my setup what else would I need to buy? (besides a power supply and case)
@Genshi5 жыл бұрын
Thank you, I really appreciate that! With the Grandmother, Morphagene and Clouds (all my favorite things!) the only other thing I would get is a modulation source since the Grandmother only has one LFO. I would get the XAOC Devices Batumi Quad LFO which actually has 12 outputs, so you can have all sorts of modulations for those three devices... that would be a pretty nice ambient sound setup!

Those are lovely! I rather enjoy creating my own Morphagene sound reels as well although I just usually use whatever synth sounds I have on my iPad. The Tenori-On app makes for some delightful reels and splices. Keep up the great work! I love your music!
@Genshi7 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the kind words! And I've always, desperately wanted a [actual] Tenori-On since the first prototype... I just could never afford one.
@WiredSpaceWizard7 жыл бұрын
Me too. That's why I was delighted when the app came out. It's really fun!

Hey, have you had a chance to mess around with Rainmaker? I'm on the fence between using that or Morphagene to create ambient textures.
@Genshi7 жыл бұрын
I have not. I've avoided it because it takes up way too much space for my small setup (looking at your setup, I don't think you'd have a problem.) Also, it's just a Delay... an incredibly powerful delay, but just a delay. With the Morphagene, you are basically getting a Sampler that allows you to chop up and manipulate your "Reel" of sound(s) in a variety of interesting ways. Couple Morphagene with an Effects processor (in my case, Clouds) and it's an incredibly powerful Ambient creation tool; with just those two modules alone, Morphagene and Clouds.
@DBPawlan7 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I suppose your Morphagene/DLD combo does quite a bit of what Rainmaker does anyway.
@Genshi7 жыл бұрын
Yes, even more so. Unfortunately, I wound up selling the DLD because I needed the money/space. I regret it though...
@DBPawlan7 жыл бұрын
OMG...I haven't heard of anyone selling one. What are you using for delay duties now?
@Genshi7 жыл бұрын
I actually had an issue with the way it works. I'm so use to how regular delay pedals/modules work, but with the DLD, it would sort of get into strange "sample" loop, and when I changed the delay time, it wouldn't happen immediately; it would take a while for it to catch up to my changes. That's one thing I really didn't like about it. It should react to my adjustments immediately (for my fixed synths like the Moog Sub 37 or Arp Odyssey, I use the Strymon El Capistan which is one of my all time favorite delays ever.) So for now, I am using the Erica Synths PICO DSP for delay, but I'm going to be getting their Black Hole DSP as well. Then of course, Clouds which, even in the main Granular mode (which is what I use the most) I can get a panning delay effect on top of also using the Reverb it has. I use it on every single patch. But there is also the Looping Delay mode which I should explore in Clouds, as well as the Delay mode in Warps which I sometimes use as well. (Warps is the truly magic module that can do SO many things!)

I want to see how that Planar works with the me Morph! Plez!
@Genshi4 жыл бұрын
Me too! Unfortunately, I sold the Planar to a friend who needed it, thinking I would get the new version 2 Planar, just haven't been able to afford it yet... but I will soon, and will do a demo of planar+morphagene.

what is the source sample around 2:40 ? I like that .....too bad black friday modular sales are really weak.....or non existent ....too much demand for modular right now it's crazy
@Genshi7 жыл бұрын
The beginning is a live looping piece I played/performed on the Critter&Guitari Organelle from this session kzbin.info/www/bejne/f5TJe3aBacmJb9k the second sort of string/horn sound that comes in I played from Omnisphere.
@ChuckLeone6 жыл бұрын
These reels sound amazing. Even when you have no external mods happening the gene size and morphing capabilities of this module produce some incredible results. One question: in the beginning of each reel demo (where you have no patching mods applied) is end result including the Clouds module? So Morphagen + Clouds?
@Genshi6 жыл бұрын
Thank you, I appreciate that! I always have everything in my setup going to Clouds just for the reverb alone. So yes, this includes Clouds reverb always on (just a touch.)
@somarellovolante36157 жыл бұрын
stunning........!! what do you mean with reel?
@Genshi7 жыл бұрын
Hard to explain; it might be easier to read the Morphagene manual to better understand the concepts, but basically, the Morphagene simulates the days of experimental artists using Reel-to-Reel machines to create Musique Concrète. So in the Morphagene, a "Reel" is just like on a tape deck, a Reel of sounds to use and manipulate. www.makenoisemusic.com/content/manuals/morphagene-manual.pdf
@somarellovolante36157 жыл бұрын
wow i didn't know you spoke chinese....)) just kidding it's clear enough..and i'm going to read the manual even if i still don't own a morphagene...but your works are great as usual...but allow me to ask...it's same things of a sample you can split in different portion..isn't it?
@somarellovolante36157 жыл бұрын
thank you
@Genshi7 жыл бұрын
Yes and no. A Reel in the Morphagene is a stereo sample, but from there, you are not just splitting it into a different portion, you are creating Genes and [micro] Splices, and Sliding and Morphing along the Reel and Genes, reorganizing the Splices, etc.... so much more to it. Completely unique to any other sampler.

Do you think morphagene would benefit from touch controllers or is it more a knobby device?
@Genshi7 жыл бұрын
I don't think the Morphagene would benefit as much from touch controllers (if you mean controllers like the Lifeforms or Sputnik touch keyboards) as it would from a Joystick controller (which I have and need to try next on the Morphagene) or an X/Y Pad like Intellijel's new Tetrapad.

May I ask you what did you use to compose the sixth reel?

Not my fault, ever since KZbin updated to automatically default to adding mid-roll ads, I've been trying to go through all of my videos and edit them to remove these mid-roll ads; as I hate how much they take away from the experience as well... but hey, thanks for being so fucking condescending about it.

Skeptical? Like you don't believe I did it? These were all just quick rough tests to give an example of what you can feed into the Morphagene... thanks for the kind words on the other reels!
