That's a beautiful presentation of the New Haven. Everything looks great. No matter what the participants in this display think of themselves, this is a Professional Layout. My compliments to everyone involved.

Seeing the old Poughkeepsie billboard, makes me wish I could revisit Poughkeepsie in the 60s and 70s, I do remember coming down DeGarmo road from school and seeing the smoke from the bridge fire in 74

@02:56 Love the C&O boxcar. @04:12 Love the NYC boxcar. Downtown area looks great too. AA++ on the Poughkeepsie bridge, a true work of art. Tons & tons of structures and small details is a sensory overload of eye candy, I know you put a ton of time and effort (and $$$) into all of that. @14:00 Love that bridge too. It seems your operational aspect is spot on and only some minor terrain/detailing still needs to be done but I am watching this 7 years after the fact LOL. I am just in awe about the number and sizes of the structures you have used, "We're not in Kansas anymore"

Wow!! Such a great layout...great representation of former NYC/ New Haven!! I've got a SMALL layout-roughly 4x8- of NYNH&H but nothing close to this. Pondering disassembling it. Grappling with the thought! IF!! I do it would be satisfying to me to pass on items to your endeavors.

Excellent layout. I grew up near Poughkeepsie and I’ve always had a fascination with it. As you probably know it’s now a walkway. My brother is an engineer for Metro North and he runs trains out of Poughkeepsie to GCT on the Hudson line. He got a kick out of the smith street yard. It’s long gone. It’s now a parking lot for the station.

Dave, this is fabulous. You've really captured the dirty, congested feel of eastern urban railroading. The bridge is great, of course. But all the overpasses. And best of all is the elevation of the track with the urban scenes down below ... not only below but towards the rear. I don't know if I've ever seen that done as well as you. I would love to see this layout in person sometime.

Update: I have gathered quite an extensive collection of New Haven engines and period rolling stock in the 2 months since my last comment so I am going for it and modeling the New Haven. Love to look to layouts like yours for inspiration even though I am going to model Providence.

Extraordinary! One of the 3-4 best private layouts I've seen on KZbin. I tip my cap, sir. Oh, and thank you for running the locomotives at scale velocities appropriate for the terrain and the loads. All too often, I see trains on video zooming past at scale speeds of 90 MPH or faster. Ruins the experience. Too bad you don't have any catenary portions of the NH modeled. You have no excuse to buy an EP-5 from Rapido.

@MinimalImpossibe7 жыл бұрын
That's an impressive layout. I was wondering if you could help me with something since it seems you are very well informed about the NHRR. When I was a kid I used to watch trains pass by my family's summer house on Whaley Lake in NY state. Between the years 1975-1979, though I'm estimating. Whose line was it and what would I have been seeing? those years effected me very deeply and I went on to work for Conrail and later CSX when they took us over. I have since left the USA and now live in Argentina, but in 2018 I plan on writing my memoirs and I'd love to have accurate information regarding those formative years.
@allgr84297 жыл бұрын
That was this line, although by then (1975) westbound trains were headed to Selkirk yard instead of Maybrook. Search Conrail NHSE to see videos of trains on this line. Before New Haven it was New York and New England.

I thought the bridge was truly spectacular... and your rolling stock is nice... almost dirty enuf lol . I had to stop because your camera panning was to quick and too jerky (made me a little seasick but I have a glass stomach) All in all tho' twas great and I dig the layout... (detailing is never done)
