This video was so much more helpful than all the others I have seen! Something about your mother coaching you as you cut along with her steps was so informative and really gave me the confidence I needed to cut both my girls hair, thank you so much for this video. 💖

I'm pregnant with our first baby. So we need to save as much as possible. We recently bought clippers and I have started cutting my husband's hair. Idk if I'll ever be brave enough to cut my own. But I'm having a little girl so I'll probably be using this in the future. Thanks for the tips!😊

Love this! My daughter is a little younger than your youngest daughter, very helpful advice on toddler hair! Do you style your girls hair? Would love to see easy girl hairstyles, I haven't done any with my little one, I don't know where to start. Thanks for the video.

I pretty much stick to pony tails and pigtails at this point. There hair is really hard to work with since it’s so thin. My mom put braids in Rev’s hair the other day. But she has more experience (and patience) working with that type of hair since it’s the same type of hair my sister and I had as kids too!
Your mother had some really great tips there. I love the way you left her with bangs that were not ugly ear to ear and up past the middle of her forehead. It looks so bad and sadly I have seen that hack done by the “professionals” to not only small children but teen and adult women as well telling them it will make the haircut last longer.I do see you used good hair shears versus kitchen shears, great start. I have been cutting my wife’s hair, my children’s and now my step children’s hair for many years and have a couple tips to share.1. Get a good quality nylon or cotton stylist cape, don’t use the plastic garbage bag thing that comes in many haircut kits.It makes it easier to run a comb through the young lady’s hair without getting caught in the towel, the cape keeps itchy hairs off a child’s skin so they sit still longer and it is easy to shake off after a haircut. Being I had cut boys’ hair, I used a neck strip to keep them from going down their neck as well.2. Have a high stool without a back on it so the chair back is not in your way. I use the high stool in the colder months and in the summer I put a board across a patio chair for them to sit on, benefit of the patio chair is their legs don’t hang and it is more comfortable for them..3. When they were young I put the tablet on its stand on a table in front of them so they were not holding it and looking down. They would look straight ahead that way.4. The boys seem to like to help. I would have one use the shop vac to collect clippings at intervals while the other was getting a haircut. And then they were off to the showers afterwards, no itchy hairs all over. These tips I found made the logistical process easier, your mother focused on technique. There are a lot of really good youtube video tutorials that are great resources and some that are hack jobs. Yours was really good. Being your mom was teaching you on the young ladies, hopefully she gave you an in person lesson on doing your husband’s hair and if you are serious about saving money, had her show your husband how to keep your locks neatly trimmed to look their best. Good video.

Thank you for your tips!! My mom does have an actual stylist cape for both kids and adults, but she left it at my husbands parents house cause we originally were going to do the video there! So we were stuck with the towel haha.

I understand fully. I use the nitrile gloves that I use when changing oil in my car, when I do my wife’s henna hair color, she liked them and now uses them for cleaning. I also had given one of her friends a haircut and was going to do her hair color with henna as well when I got half way through the coloring brush broke. So I went to the garage and came back with a new unused paint brush and finished the job. She looked at me funny, but I said hey it is new, unused and it beats leaving your hair color half done. Both laughed, and it actually did a nice job applying the color. And she was very pleased with the final result. So i fully understand the need to improvise as needed.

Great couple of tips to point out for sure. If you want to save money and cut your kids hair, for sure buy a quality pair of hair cutting scissors and you are so right about having a cape to easily cut the back of the hair. I was so wishing I had not left it at the other house.

Haha!! Does he keep it short or long? We actually already cut Ryan’s hair once and since he keeps it short we use clippers. There are tons of great videos on KZbin to teach you. It wasn’t perfect but for the first time it turned out great, and I know with more practice it will be perfect near eventually! I did use my scissors to fix a few spots though.
