The fun thing about the "all was CGI"-complaint is that it's simply wrong. The only two scenes where everything in the background was CG are the droid factory and the talk - scene between Mace, Yoda and Obi-Wan in Episode II, and those only because they weren't in the original Script and added very late. in 90% of all other scenes, most of the buildings, scenery, landscapes, Backgrounds and Sets are Sets, Real-World locations, models or miniatures. The arena of Geonosis in the background ? Model The Hangar where Obi-Wan and Anakin fought Dooku ? Gigantic Set Most outside- and inside shots of Kamino ? Model All Landscape-shots of Mustafar aswell as the Mining-complex are taken on a model, the Lava is just real footage of Lava from Mt Etna, and all inside shots, aswell as the plattforms Anakin and Obi-Wan fight on are sets. The Mountains in the background on Aldeeran are the alps, filmed in switzerland, Theed and Naboo are all models, or real places in Italy. The underwater-landscapes in EpI are models, and remember the scene in EpIII where a bunch of wookies storm towards droids Landing on their beach ? The Wookies were real people in costumes, and the beach a model. The filmed the wookies in Front of a bluescreen, then put the model-landscape behind them. The exact same way they did it back in the OT. Both Obi-Wans and Anakin Jedi-Starfighters from the Beginning of Episode III were live-sized mock-ups, aswell as a additional Cockpit-only Set for scenes from inside. Basically every detailed background or building we saw in close - up from the outside was either a Set or a model, from Utapau to even extremely minor sceneries like Cato-Neimodia. EPIII alone had vastly more models and sets built for it than the entirety of the OT COMBINED. Wether people want to accept it or not, it's very possible that Ep III relied LESS on CG than TFA
@pspublic133 жыл бұрын
Anyone who complains about CGI in these films are either hipsters trying to be "cool", people who only watched criticism videos without thinking about the points, and everyone else who is repeating the false facts to fit in the crowd when prequel hate became popular.

@@pspublic13 Only a Sith deals in absolutes.... but you are right. It's hipster clowns, ignorant sheeple and Sithheads talking. Fact is: compared to current blockbusters, the prequel CGI is rather moderate and the special effects were very diverse in method.
@KevinBaird3 жыл бұрын
This is all true but you have to admit that the movies have a cartoonish like quality to them which is why a lot of people say that. The CGI was pretty great for it's time - (I praised it quite a bit in some of the 80 + minutes of footage I cut of myself ranting) but it pales in comparison to the Disney movies which is why you rarely see people bring up that complaint anymore.
@Сайтамен3 жыл бұрын
@@KevinBaird In comparison with movies which came out 15 years later they look cartoonish? I wonder why... Obviously, every movie dates. When people say prequels effects didn't age well, I ask - and OT did? The puppets in Cantina, cut and pasted spaceship models, blue elephant with Jabba look very natural, huh? Each era has their effects and tries to do best with them, it's normal.

@@Сайтамен I'm saying your original post is valid but something about the way these were shot, or color corrected ( I don't know exactly) made it look fake. TPM shows why Anakin is so important, his strong attachment to his mom, why Obi-Wan wasn't right teacher to him, why he hates Tatooine, Jedi rules, Palpatine becoming chancellor, world building, etc...And of course, podracing and Darth Maul. AOTC actually tells a story (Palpatine's rise to power by manipulation Republic and Separatists, Anakin's progression of falling to the Dark Side, start of the Clone Wars), develops characters, shows us real war, new planets, species, ships, droids, world, and has connection with 1 and 3. What ROTS show us? The largest battle in the Clone Wars, deaths of Dooku and Grievous, Kashyyk battle, Anakin's conflict with Jedi and himself, his weakness (save who he loves), which perfectly works with saving Luke, Palpatine's manipulation and rise to power, Order 66, 2 amasing final battles and the creation of Darth Vader and Empire, birth of Luke and Leia, new hope. It is meaning for the whole Galaxy and is the most emotional. TFA is a copypaste of ANH without any logic, good characters, with stupid jokes, infinite coincidences, which retconned whole OT: Empire hasn't fallen, Han and Leia are not together, Luke left everyone like a coward, etc... TLJ is not a movie, it's middle-finger to all star wars fans. Stupid jokes in each serious moment, ruining old characters, copy of OT, not answering any questions, breaking the lore, pointless sequences. TROS: Somehow Palpatine has returned, lol. AOTC is 100 times better than any of this hot mess.

Well the trade federation were part of the republic, and served republic systems with their armies, to protect trade. Later on when the separatist movement happened, they separated from the republic, joining thousands of systems, that is what cause the tensions, and the clone wars. Im sure they weren't the only army in the galaxy, just the most powerful. ( you see Umbaran forces fighting in the clone wars for the separatists as well) There is no doubt the republic and the senate have became complacent by a millennia of peace, corruption and such, that is why it was so easy a prey for the Sith to infiltrate. According to lore, few in the senate new how really powerful was the droid army as well. I absolutely love Lord of the rings. It’s a truly magical story, an amazing journey. But Star Wars is different for me. I am obsessed with Star Wars, I think about it constantly and it just makes me happy. Nothing gives me more joy than the Star Wars universe. Also oh my god the dad grabbing the Bacardi was hysterical.

31:56 I'm fairly certain that they didn't send every single Jedi to Geonosis.

Everyone on lord of the rings:we hate your sister, shes was on her phone the whole time. His sister: I was on my phone "googling" because I wanted to know more

There were thousands of Jedi during the prequels, not just the ones seen in the battle at the end of episode 2. Presumably they sent all the masters and some knights who were at the temple at the time, but there would’ve been lots on other planets who didn’t go to fight and all the younglings and padawans plus some knights that would’ve stayed at the temple

11:06 "I know they're _literally_ two different things, but [...]" I could spend the rest of 2021 thinking about it and I wouldn't be able to come up with a better response. Fun stuff, Kevin. Really glad you underlined John Williams's contribution to these films. They are on par with his OT work and at times surpass them in all sorts of ways.

It's been an absolute joy seeing your parents and sister love a movie that I never cared for. It's nice to know someone in the world likes Ep 1 and that it wasn't a complete waste.

I also love how your mom hates violence and war in films and just wants to watch a nice sweet movie like Saving Private Benjamin

I think your mom's initial confusion with Ep 1 was trying to figure out how these characters were connected to the ones in the Original Trilogy. You really can't blame her because we all experienced this when first introduced to Qui Gonn, and Mace, Padme and a whole slew of other characters. The only ones we recognized right off the bat was Obi-Wan and Yoda, R2D2 and C3PO.

@Kevin i think it was the chancellor who appointed Anakin and Obiwan as Padme's bodyguard knowing of Anakin's attachment to her. Since the council has to send Obi-wan to find the assassin, Anakin is still under orders to protect Padme.

I just love how invested everyone in your family is in your videos and how much of an effort they put into giving their opinion. One can only dream of having this chemistry in their family. Also what is great is that each member of your family represents a typical movie viewer. So if all of you think the movie is get then it is safe to say that a movie is good. I would take a combined positive rating of your family over any IMDb rating anyday ;)
