To celebrate the release of my brand new National Best Selling book - My Money My Way: Taking Back Control of Your Financial Life, I am continuing a six-day Mini-Lesson event. Every day for six days, I will be sharing some financial building blocks from my new book!
Are you ready to start transforming your finances?
Today's My Money My Way Mini-Lesson is all about financial awareness. Not just recognition, but decision-making awareness (don't worry, I'll go over what this is in the lesson today!)
To get a daily mini-lesson reminder, make sure you turn on notifications and subscribe to my channel.
Let's start a new financial journey - YOUR WAY!
Day 2: My Money My Way Mini-Lesson: Financial Awareness
1. Understand your starting point.
2. Track Your Spending.
3. Use the highlighter method to organize your expenses.
----
Your Homework:
1. Manually track your spending for an entire month. If you don’t want to wait, pull out all of your statements from the previous month.
2. Using different highlighter colors, highlight “like” transactions. For example, highlight all of your food transactions in green, all of your gas purchases in yellow, etc.
3. Add up all of your highlighter colors for each category. For example, add up all of the yellow purchases, and assign that color a budget category name. Add up all of the green purchases, and repeat.
4. Write down one thing that surprised you about your spending.

Miko, in the two months I've been following you I have finally learned that a budget isn't a scary thing, but a wonderful and amazing tool that gives me permission to spend money on fun things, and yet somehow seems to find money for me to save and invest that never was there before. In the past a budget was always something I did not want to think about because in my mind all it would do is force me to pay bills and have nothing left for anything fun! Without a budget and keeping my head buried in the sand; I could just keep going shopping and charging whatever I wanted on my CC. Thank you for being here and teaching us all how to discover ourselves, our reasons for doing what we do and learning to become our best selves. You truly are an amazing person and deserve all your success. I am loving your book and already wishing you had another one out lol.

True if you're so restrictive you'll fall its a process..you didn't get in debt over night you not going to get out of debt over night. I think the Walmart or grocery pick up is a good idea if you wander the aisles. However, products online are sometimes $1-2 more than when you go into the store. That adds up too.

I'm an in-and-out with a list type of person, so wondering is not an issue for me. But I've been doing grocery pickup during my pregnancy. (So thankful for that!) I've noticed that I miss out on sales on things I normally buy. Like day-old bread, dented cans, etc that go on clearance.

To understand your budget takes years the months change the seasons change and years change last year my occasions sinking fund was wild two of my babies became 16 and one became 18 that year won't repeat for a while but at least I know, this year I've split my food budget into eating out and home food because to say we ate x amount wasn't enough information if I still questioned how it was so much.

I have a lot of data about our spending, specifically I have all the data from 12 years of living with my partner. My problem is that I don't know what to do with these info. We saved some in these years but it seems not intentional, it always was what remained at the end of the month. Also I have difficulties tracking the cash, I tried to use the Good Budget app to make virtual cash envelopes but it didn't became a habit..

How do I stop doing my sinking funds like a rollover I hate splitting my pots into one I split my sinking funds into seasons and start working through them as I need them until they are full then move onto next month etc of is it okay to do it this way 20 envelopes with a £5 in them irritates me so I stockpile into one at a time but not sure if this is okay?

Writing in & highlighting in a book destroys resale value. It is never a good idea to destroy a book. That's what notebooks are for.
@mrs.jessicarocha1241
@mrs.jessicarocha1241 2 жыл бұрын
Once someone buys a book, then it is THEIR choice if they'd like to write in or highlight something that they want to remember. Not everyone buys a book with the intention of reselling it 🤷🏼‍♀️ Her book is very important to a LOT of people already, so let them do what they want with their purchase. I know I'm going to highlight things in my book, if you don't want to then that's fine 🙂 Everyone is different. This world needs less criticism and more kindness/understanding/love in general.

@@mrs.jessicarocha1241 Of course people can do whatever they want with their own property. I am ALL about individual rights. My point is that she is telling everyone to destroy the books so they can't be resold. That is a marketing technique. I think it is important to have informed consent before making a decision to destroy the book or not. Hence my comment. You do YOU.

MIIIKOO, GIRL, GIRL, GIRL!! AMEN! I don't know what to say but it was providence why I came across your KZbin channel 3 years ago. This was like so awesome. It hit on so many real levels, honey you keep it real. I love this method because it helps us create a budget that fits "me" and me alone because all of our situations and circumstances vary. Girl I had to pause and say, why like reading and studying the Bible and applying the principles therein can touch so many facets of your life, if I could find all the Sciriptures that apply financially and even those that may not have the word "money" or "plan" in it that is why it is the PRINCIPLEs and the process of applying that can touch many facets of life, that is what I saw and learned and loved about this video. Oh praise Jehovah Girl!! This is so good!! Thank you, ever so much girl, you are genuinely REAL!!
