Goodness Cath, , that’s such a wonderful story about your Grandmother’s beautiful fabric. Full of sentimental emotion. The corset is stunning and looks so beautifully made. So clever. I love the Meet Milk fabric. Enjoy sewing it 💕

Wonderful corset with its history. Love the dress you’re wearing and the fabric is so cute! Your challenge dress will be so special- I’d either go for the frill with straight checks or else cut on the bias for the contrasting details. Either would be fabulous ❤ Thanks for sharing xx

Thank you very much 😊 that’s a really good point for the challenge dress, to concentrate on one feature or the other. Thank you ❤️ xx

What a wonderful story about the fabric and corset from your Granny! I wonder if she made something from a bit of it? On the other dress, what about eliminating all the ruffly parts and letting the checks do the talking? I love your idea of running the yoke on the diagonal! That would really be a smart detail. And you were a great seamstress even when you weren't!! That corset is great!😂

Thank you very much 😊 I’m not sure if my granny made anything from it. Thanks yes I do love the idea of letting the checks do the talking Ahh thank you re the corset 😄😄 I think if I made another now it would definitely feel like starting from scratch!

Hi Cath 👋 I really loved hearing the history of your Grandma’s beautiful green silk fabric. A lovely poignant collaberation 😊. I do hope that you find the occasion to wear it once more and how lovely that your daughter may wear it one day. Meet Milk fabrics are always classics, but shirt dresses really suit you. Get it done !! Look fabulous and feel happy wearing it 😄 No shoulder frills though, a tad too much if I may say so 🤔 Have a good week x 😊

Omg....I remember when you made that...these shirt dresses are timeless looks great on you. Thanks for sharing the corset.really beautiful and precious. That green checked fabric will be very flattering on you. I think you should keep the little flutter things on the shoulders it will certainly blend in with the fabric but also create a nice balanced look on your figure.

Thank you for sharing the story of your precious green silk with us! I love how your Granny's memory can live on through the generations in such a timeless piece! Really looking forward to your Davenport dress, I love that green MeetMilk fabric and think the dress is a perfect pattern choice (agree with keeping things simple and not doing the shoulder ruffles!)

So nice to see something you made so long ago, and in such lovely precious fabric! I'm excited to see your finished Davenport with that fantastic fabric. I think it'll work really well without the frills; it will let the fabric and style lines shine.

Love your corset, what a lovely thing to have and pass on. My Granny embroidered a corner of a tablecloth. My Mum did another corner. I then was given it to do a corner. Alas my daughter was born blind. It's still wrapped in tissue, as now I am lucky enough to have 2 Granddaughters, so who knows they may finish it
@madebycathcraft2 ай бұрын
Thank you very much 😊 Your family’s embroidered tablecloth sounds like such a wonderful heirloom. How lovely if your granddaughters do finish it ❤️

I was sooo hoping you were going to do something with that fabric! I absolutely adore the colour ❤ and I think it will be a perfect pattern for that fabric. I was going to suggest doing the yokes on the bias just to add a little detail and then you said it! Definitely do that! You could also just baste in the flutter frills and see how you feel about it before sewing them in properly. Looking forward to the finished dress. Your corset is stunning! Thank you for sharing x

Thank you very much, I’m glad I’ve finally made a decision on it, I’m looking forward to getting it sewn up now. That’s a very good plan re basting the flutter frills thank you Thanks it was nice to get the corset back out 😊 x

Thank you for sharing the story about the corset ❤ I agree, leave the ruffles off the shoulders. If there’s any fabric left, I think it would make an amazing Brumby skirt!

The shoulder detail might work in a solid light or even the darker green. You would need to match them perfectly.

Would the fit be OK with fabric that has less structure and with stretch?
