when i first saw Katie i was angry, i said she's cruel, if you've been f*d up by someone, they did it - but she is life changing - what an absolute power house of a woman. this is where the healing is

Yes...I felt the same way too. When I first saw one of her videos, I quickly turned it off and called it hogwash. But somehow, a week or so later, another one of her videos came up on KZbin...and I listened for about 5 minutes. And she said something that instantaneously turned my thinking around. So I decided to continue listening. Now....I'm literally going through some of the most revolutionary and FREEING emotional shifts I've ever experienced in my lifetime, doing THE WORK on a daily basis. Thank GOD for Byron Katie!

Its so interesting to watch how he responds when he believes the story he's always told himself, so sad and broken; and then when he uses inquiry, and turns the thoughts around, he Is released from the sadness! Amazing, and so life altering for me, as I do identify with this man! Thank you for doing the work! Thank you for helping me!! ❤

Beautiful example of experiential process. Getting him to inhabit and speak from the experiences generating the feelings that are driving his thoughts that are causing his suffering. Two courageous loving, generous people showing us all how we can achieve awareness of what is keeping us stuck and how to free ourselves to experience joy. Much love to you both and thank you. This is the best example i have seen yet of how to do The Work.

The little one did need his mother to be present. Its hard to watch adults publically shaming abandoned kids.
@iamdragon5914
@iamdragon5914 3 жыл бұрын
Agreed. It's clear he was emotionally abandoned whether it was mom's intention or not. Intention is not required for harm to be done. The turnaround sounds like they're assigning way too much agency to him as a child. People, it's ok to accept "yes ,I'm a victim of alcoholism in my family. Yes, I'm accepting that. Yes, abuse exists beyond bruises. Yes, I made it through. Yes, she may not have chosen that intentionally but neither did I. "Acceptance is not always requiring that you like it.

An abandoned kid is publically shamed, can you absolutely know that it's true? It's the story you tell yourself, and when you are ready to find out if it's really true, you can do The Work. I wish you all the best.
@paulinedolan5989
@paulinedolan5989 3 жыл бұрын
@@devrijer Ivo, Your reply isn't helpful and is a cheap shot . "when you are ready ' smacks of smugness and critical parent. See "I'm ok -you are ok and the games people play."I absolutely know that an abandoned child experiences shame and finds it difficult to move into the next development stage of feeling connected and worthy of belonging. I also believe that it is absolutely true that where I am today it is Monday and I'm really sure I 'm not ready to find out otherwise, despite my knowing that time is an agreed on concept for our learning.
@devrijer
@devrijer 3 жыл бұрын
@@paulinedolan5989 I see that my reply comes across as smug, that was not my intention, sorry for that. What I meant is that we each have our own reality. I see a man that is dealing with the images in his head of him as a kid, I'm ok with that. You see an abandoned kid that is publically shamed. Based on your reaction I assumed (so I might be wrong here) that you are not ok with that. Inquiry might help you deal with that feeling, if that's something you would want (that's what I meant with "when you are ready", obviously those were not the right words). Sorry again, I really wish you all the best.
@chiniwillly
@chiniwillly Ай бұрын
The thing is she is not minimizing that abuse happens or happened. She is not saying it only occurs with bruises. She does the work with people who have also had physical and sexual abuse. The point is taking a grown man and helping him get a different perspective. It’s actually empowering to not allow the thoughts of pain and torture to continually haunt and make us suffer. She’s guiding and allowing the fellow to be emancipated from his painful thoughts. This doesn’t condone abuse in any way.

We cannot know what's going on in anyone's head. Everyone is 'right' in their own heads. We're all doing the best we can with what we've got. The Work of Byron Katie has provided for me amazing universal understanding on our relationships with our family and others. If I can only pass along one thing it to have 'real' faith in humanity and family. It does always work out, if that's the authentic "Intentions" This conversation is so beautiful of how real love can heal all wounds. Sometimes saying: "I'm sorry, I was wrong, and I love you." Can be the hardest words to say. Love does heal all wounds. Try it out. Hey, don't take my word for it, it's just my besh guess. Peace, Love, Hugs and Gratitude!

21:04 the point here is that you should answer the questions without adding a reason ("because")... bc that would be like a justification and therefore counterproductive... The only thing I'd add to the work is always remind the person to breathe in and out well...
@klopiki2
@klopiki2 4 жыл бұрын
That's right, breathing helps to connect mind with body and feelings. It really helps to release pain energy from our physical and emotional body. Breathing also connects us with higher wisdom and it helps when trying to sink into situations for answers.

@@klopiki2 ...especially when ppl have crying cramps... the profound breathing stops them immediately and really helps process the feeling and emotion... whereas crying doesn't...

Hi Ivo, I appreciate your email and taking some responsibility for your negative impact. 1. Until we are in a relationship with boundaries, please do not presume to know what I see , how could you without checking with me2.. You also assumed that I needed help"Inquiry might help you with that ". 3. You are in my business without invitation, intention or unintentional ,I did not invite you there with your assumption . you wish me the best, what is best for me is that I honour my perspective and allow others the same freedom.

so according to this if someone kills your child it will be your fault for wanting to kill your child and there should be no pain about it in your mind.... and then you say they didn't really want to abuse and kill your child.... then you laugh and smile.
