I am a licensed nail technician. Acrylic nails are actually not bad for the nails. E files are not bad for the nails either. If your technician is properly trained on how to use an e file, there will be no damage to your natural nail. There is no need to remove acrylic just fill it in or rebalance it. That is the healthiest option.

Beautiful nails! But acrylics are not meant to be damaging to the natural nails if done correctly. Nails don’t need to breath but it is recommended to get at least two fills before doing a whole new set (unless you are going from a dark color to light/transparent). The soaking in acetone is what will dry out your nails/skin.

I used to get a dip manicure done once every other month then got them done back to back. When they removed it, my usually thick and healthy pink nails were dry, thin and dull. They were also splitting. My current nail care routine consists of an exfoliating wash (any kind), but I use Alba Volcano scrub. There are plenty of sugar scrubs out there. Avoid salt scrubs as those are drying. I then moisturize with an organic hand cream by Dr. Goldfaden, Kiehl’s Hand Salve, or a regular hand cream mixed with Aura Cacia avocado oil. Find something with nourishing ingredients like avocado oil, Shea, Cocao butter, Kukui nut, Grape seed, Vitamin E, Argan, Baobab, Rose-hip oil, Jojoba oil, Ceramides or other ingredients that strengthen, hydrate and firm the nails and skin on hands. I sometimes mix in the same retinol I use for my face because it is exfoliating and anti-aging for dry hands too. Finally, I file, buff and paint my nails with 7-Free non-drying, nourishing nail polish lines like Zoya’s Naked Manicure Kit or Pacifica Nail Primer and Gloss Bass/Top coat. Hope this helps anyone looking for actual nail care ideas.

i love that you put a video out like this! 🥰 i’m in school studying to be a nail technician but what i can say is that acrylic is actually healthy for your nails. it’s considered a protectant. if your nails are beginning to become damaged then it could be the way the product was applied. a lot of regular salons use products with MMA. MMA is a product that is for use in the bones. it’s literally “bone cement” it’s not supposed to move, it’s supposed to stay forever. that’s why someone always says “oh my nails stay on forever!” cause that person used an MMA product. you’ll know when you soak your nails, the acrylic will become gummy. if you’re acrylic just crumbles, the product was good. if it’s gummy, the product was MMA. sorry i love stuff like this & i just be ranting 😂❤️

I would recommend getting tips (not acrylics) if u go to a salon ask them if they have the dipping powder because that doesn’t use the acrylic. Dipping powder is good for starter bc ur nails don’t just start right off with the acrylic chemicals. Right after u get used to the dipping powder u can go onto the actual acrylics. I used to bite my nails then when I starting getting dipping power tips I stoped biting my nails. I’m now onto acrylics now and I live for them :)

The entire prep and clean process is my favorite part when I get my nails done I’m all up in there just watching lol I actually ended up going for a clear set this time too lol I used to get nail extensions or tips but now I get acrylic or hard gel overlay on the natural nail and they’re still thin and flimsy I’ve always wondered if I could just ask not to thin the natural nail out but then I figured it’s probably to help the acrylic attach to the nail bed easier okay now I’m just rambling like we’re sitting talking in person lmao let me take myself to bed 😂😂😂😂 love ya setty ❤️
