Something I figured out to prevent stains is to put a coat of a nude coloured nail polish under any given colour. I haven't had a problem with stains since I started doing it and I often wear black, blues and purples! :)

I never heard this before, but you're the second person that I hear (or read) it from in about a month. The other person was, I think, a blogger that swears by Butter's Nail Foundation, so I'm definitely trying that method with the nude under and hopefully it will work for me! Thanks for the tip!

I nearly screamed when you cut them! They grew out so beautifully :) My mum always has long nails like yours, she never paints them, so they always look perfect. Crazy thing is, she doesn't treat them with oils, nor does she file them! When one breaks off, she cuts them down and starts all over. They grow back pretty long within a couple of weeks. My nails are sort of like that, but since I tested acrylic, my nails are a little bit on the brittle side. I'll use the oils and nail strengthening serums/polish's like you mentioned :) Great video!

Buffing wouldn't stop them curling sideways. It'd just make them weaker and break easier. Everyone's nails are different. Genetics and lifestyles. Mine naturally curl sideways. It's been the same for 27 years and there's nothing I can do to change it. But they only curl when I grow them REALLY freakishly long. Like when the free edge is more than twice the size of my nail bed. And I haven't had them that long for over a year xx

I noticed that you said that no matter what you did your nails continue to be yellow. There is a product out there that will turn them back to their normal white. I too had yellow nails, in fact they were so bad they had almost turned orange. So, I started looking for a nail brightener, and I found Pink Armor Nail Gel, and it truly works. It took mine about 5 weeks to return to their normal white, but only because they were so badly discolored. So, again, use Pink Armor Nail Gel, it is a very sheer pink color, but it doesn't change the color of any of my polishes, and I used only that for the first month. And besides brightening the yellow, it is also a great hardener and it really works too. It run about $8.17 at my local Walmart or about $7.96 on eBay so give it a try and let me see how white those beautiful nails of yours will become. By the way, I too use dark polish all the time. Hope this helps!

I am envious of your nail beds . mine are short and ugly..so for that reason itself I cannot paint my nails :C no matter how long I grow them, the nail bed is SHORT :C Do you know if there is anyway to lengthen it? I tried pushing cuticle back as my colleague recommended (worked for her, she claimed), and did it over a few mths but no effect :C I hardly paint my nails, if I did it would be sheer or transparent or glitter.

can you give me more details on how you apply the cuticle oil? because i always have my nails painted and sometimes i put the sally hansen cuticle oil on my cuticles but it doesnt absorb because of the polish, how do you manage to use the oil once a day if you have your nails painted? or do you re-do your manicure every day? thx

I've been painting my nails for a few years, even if it's clear because the actual nail itself peels on my thumbs. I have had physical damage to both on two different occasions (not nail polish related at all!) I was told it would grow out. After 10 years, neither have yet. I've used strengtheners, buffers, vitamins. Not doing anything seems to be worse because the peeling starts at the first 1/3 of the nail closest to the cuticle. When I don't cover it with clear, the peeling goes down to the

Thank you SO much for these tips! I always cut my nails after soaking, so i"ll be doing it when they're dry and hard from now. Just a quick question thoigh as different people say different things: when you go to paint your nails do you wipe them first with polish remover, or just apply the polish over your moisturised nails? I have very dry brittle nails, and would prefer to have an oil or cream underneath. So it would be interesting to know what you do. Your nails are gorgeous by the way. 😊
