Yeah, the "stock" became tainted once they started using actual recruits rather than perfect clones. Obedience without question is no longer guaranteed, their dedication and physical ability vary, etc. And they had to make the kill to death ratio really low for the bad guys, so that no matter how bad things looked the good guys could escape rather than get gunned down like they should have been.

Not even the clones were totally uniform, just mostly. Variations exited, because the way the men had been trained /what they'd been exposed to (Republic Commando books). BUT, by Luke's time, most of the soldiers were recruits, not clones. It had been almost twenty years-- for a clone, almost forty (as they age at double the speed) which would have left them at age sixty or so. By then they'd have been introduced to Palpatine's retirement plan for old clones at the business end of a blaster.

Furthermore, believe it or not palpatine didn't actually have that many clones left after the smoke cleared. The CIS Army and the Jedi did most of them in. Yes before anyone comments the Jedi did kill ALOT of clones. It's not shown in the movie, but its mentioned in the novels that the Jedi didn't just bend over and take it in the butt. They did fight back, and wouldn't you expect them to? Theyr'e JEDI after all.

@xmuzik4l1fe17 Because at just around the time they went along with the Dark Side, they became the "Bad guys" and it's just unacceptable for the "bad guys" to win, or even really stand a chance against the preconceived "good guys". However, it can also be explained that the Stormtrooper Corps was not 100% Jango Fett clones, and thus was vastly inferior to the Clone Trooper army.

Actually Palpatine didn't do much cloning after order 66. He didn't need a badass army anymore, because he had the galaxy. After order 66 he was able to use enlisted men to get the job done. This is why Clonetrooper were so Sick Bad Ass, and Stormtroopers were not that great. The remaining clones became trainers, officers, and special forces for the most part.

A good soldier follows orders, and doesnt mess about. In real world battle people die if orders aren't obeyed. Soldiers always need to be loyal to their commanders. Stormtroopers are always obiedient to their masters. PS stormtroopers rock.

the reason why the stormtroopers were cannon fodder is because palpatine being how gay he was told them to stop using jango fett as the cloning template. big mistake. the 501st were the best of the imperial army cause they were all jango's clones

@501darth i dont want to be anyon but wene the clones were made they wrere told to follow chanceler palpeten.so when he said to do ORDER 66 they had no choice.but some clones disobeyd him and stayd with the jedi!!:)

stormtroopers are clones know but the empire send Bobba Fett to steal DNA from the Kaminoams and the clones that resisted to the revolution tryed to stop Bobba put the clones we're not succeeded in theyre mission

Darth shoulda kept the clones....much better shots than the troopers. (sigh) They needed to keep the armor also much stronger lol. hell their proboly safer fighting in the nude(storm troopers would be safer not clones)

Yes, Some are clones, but the empire started cloning from different people when they had a rebellion on Komino from the jango fette clones.(SWbattlefront 2) Atleast that's what I think happens.

bobafett080 : the clone troopers becam the elite squad in the imperial army. insdead of making new ones. they hired diferent humans and cloned them.

@xmuzik4l1fe17 The original clones were dead by the time of the 4th movie because of their accelerated aging process, but its true, it doesn't make sense that stormtroopers are so stupid... I think they were meant to be grunts, but they act more like a criminal organization then a galactic authority. At least the officers are smart.

yeah, but if you played star wars battlefront you'd know why. There was an uprising on kamino where the kaminoans created an army of clones to fight the empire. So the empire came in and destroyed the cloning center and all the DNA. So they said that the 501st, the strongest legion, stayed all jango clones and the rest were recruits. The 501st were the soldiers that invaded the tantive IV, hoth, and i think were the defenders of the endor shield bunker

not quite - with the grow/ lifecicle acceleration most of the clones died or are too old by the time of Episode IV. Most Imperial Ranks were filled with humans - humanoids. A begining of this can also be seen in the last scenes of RotS where Imperial Officers were already normal human instead of clones - to replace, refill the Jedi ranks.

too much SW battleground. In the movie and outside Clone commanders don't nessacerry have that kind of machinegun. (See Cody and Gree) They just overall stick with the D-17 and D-15. Arc Troopers however and Republic Commandos do have special designed weaponry.
