- Ceren and Dongpil miraculously found each other in Turkey. Dongpil even lived in Turkey to get permission to marry Ceren. Ceren is 5 months into pregnancy and she’s happy that her parents-in-law are very nice to her. But she feels pressured as the mother-in-law keeps wanting a granddaughter.

Ceren is so beautiful and kind! I love that she is one of the few guests on the show that actually seems to have integrated/settled well in Korean society, I love that she has her own life as well. You see it with a lot of couples on the show that it seems the foreign partner can't seem to settle and ends up bored at home. Happy that is not the case for her! I like the fact that she said "If I don't study, I can't be happy here." Which is completely true! You have to invest living into a country to actually be happy living there.

Turkish and Korean are both in the Altaic language family, although it's not accepted nowadays. This is why the woman from Uzbekistan from another episode is fluent in Korean as well. The languages are similar in a grammatic way. S-O-V (subject-object-verb).

Firstly I’m glad that they’ve been given a new setting albeit the previous set being very quaint and cute (like your own little secret) but I can live with it.secondly we get to know more about the people as they are able to talk more in between the vt which also gives sayuri and the French guy more screen time not just being there as props. However I miss their discussions that they have at the end but overall I can’t wait to see this show grow more😆👍🏽

what is really disturbing is that she is highly educated, way more capable and way more intelligent but she has no any chance in Korea. As a foreigner you can be a slave' in some factory or you can be an 'english teacher'. But nothing beyond that.

Thanks for not so subtly putting the teaching profession and everyone who works in it down. I started off teaching English in Korea and now I'm in the U.S teaching high-school ESL; it's a professional job that requires advanced degrees and lots of dedication …. teaching requires a lot more than many people seem to assume … and yes, it's a bit different if you're working in hagwon (academy) in Korea - not everyone is there because they love teaching, at the same time not everyone in Korea teaches because it's the "only thing they can do" - and many are professional teachers or go on to become professional teachers. Also, Korea is a wonderful country that many, including myself, love being in (I hope to return someday myself) - so no need to put others down for their life choices. Live and let live. As a last, anyone who's an immigrant makes sacrifices as a non-native of that country, my husband is a Korean national living here in the U.S and it's definitely not all roses - trust me; not to mention gender issues, most people live in the country of their husband's origin since it's easier for men to succeed professionally (in their native country) due to the ever present gender divide - regardless of country.

It all depends on what you want out of life and some people just realize it late. Yes, she went all the way through med school--but maybe she really wasn't into it and only did it to please her family. We're not her, so who knows? Also it's not easy for those with a foreign medical degree to be accepted into other countries--especially countries like Korea. There are certain qualifications that foreign med students have to pass to be considered equivalent with Korean medical training. And it's basically geared towards Korean international students coming back to Korea, not non-Koreans. After they sit through the qualifying exams, they then have to take the Korean Medical Licensing Exam (KMLE). Only 1-3% of the applicants even pass the qualifying exam, which means that there are less than 10 foreign medical degree holders who even attempt to take the KMLE each year. If your Korean language skill is not at the native level then you will most likely fail. Very few of the foreign medical degree holders ever pass the KMLE, whereas basically every single domestic Korean student passes it. I want a follow up soon on Ceren and Dongpil(sp?). I'm curious what their baby would be. It really makes a difference when someone picks up the language because it helps them communicate with others and the in-laws. At least Ceren in this regard does not need to completely depend on her husband.

eating shrimp sea food and such is a big NO No in most european countries while your pregnant. Due to high level of mercury. Even canned tuna is not ok. I love how Ceren sounds like when she speaks corean, so cute!

Caroline Lalam same in the US. Fish (esp tuna, shark) and sushi are of concerns but depends on where they were caught. Mercury primarily derives from environmental contamination/industrial waste, so some places are worse than others. I always check the country of origin.

For those who says why is she eating pork, it is her choice. actually all muslims doesnt follow all the rules. for example my friends are muslim but they drink alcohol they dont follow this rule but they follow the others like fasting in ramadan or my some friends just believe in it and dont do something about it because it is their choice it is between them and god. there are some rules, you choose either follow them all or some of them. thats why she can eat pork. or maybe she is not a believer. my parents are muslim but i dont believe so of course that can happen. whatever, dont be shocked when you see a muslim drink alcohol because many of people are drinking alcohol especially youngers like university students. thats how is it in turkey.

i didn't pay attention to her eating pork. I don't know about Muslim commandments but it looks a way more appealing for her to introduce her sincerity about her religion and belief to the non believers how to act polite and respectful rather than superficially religious behaviors. I am glad and welcome to Korea for those Muslims who try to assimilate to the local cultures without radically embedding their belief. I am sure she is religious and wise woman at the same time.

Eda Jang Actually Ceren is a Christian so it's only natural that she eats pork. Her family is muslim though, I remember when her mother and family visited her in Korea they couldn't eat meat. Because her mother wears the hijab and because she's Turkish most people assume she is a muslim as well but she isn't.

Then, there is the older Korean man who fantasizes about younger white women. Then, there is the older Korean woman who fantasizes about young African men. Seeing this couple, I have come up to the sure answer that speaking local language and proactive personality never fails to successfully settled in the local community. She is very positive and independent. She eats pork and takes the local life styles picking up the local language so fast. We have a prejudice over the foreigners who live in Korea that most of them don't try to learn Korean, and it hinders interacting and mingling with the local people and making connections and sharing the sense of belonging. Then their struggles go on and on, and they try to find the solutions in the different reasons. So some lucky ones apply to be shown in this program and appealing some attention and help. There is no such place like living in heaven or Utopia without making the full effort of learning the local language and being prepared to the certain level of skillful occupation.

why people are disappointed that she choosed love over her career?? it was her choice, a lot of med students don't end up working on the medical field, sometimes because they change their mind or because they have other priorities. it's not the end of the world. What's important is that now woman can choose if they want to focus on their careers or on their "familiy" life, not like before.
