i really respect Mahmoud for committing to his religion. I think that people should respect it, although I understand that the religions most prominent in korea are christianity and buddhism. I think it's extremely rude for them to keep asking why when he thoroughly explained and also their tone is also frustrating in my perspective. Mahmoud should maybe put up informational signs explaining why alcohol is prohibited that are more in depth than saying that they are muslim. As an aussie I am proud of Sam. He respected Mahmoud's religious beliefs and thought of a great strategy to gain an advantage.

I'm a non-moeslim and living in Indonesia. See what happened to Mahmoed makes me feel bad. It's so hard for him living in korea since most of korean don't know about their laws. I'm glad to all my moeslim friends who was born and raised in Indonesia. Indonesia isn't a moeslim country, but it's not hard for them to find any places to pray and any foods to eat. Non-moeslim and moeslim grew up together and since we were very young, we've been taught about each religion's laws (we have 5 biggest religion). So Indonesian people can understand why all moeslims can't eat pork or don't sell alcohol and it's a normal things to a non-moeslim.

I've liked the advises Sam told to Mahmoud. As he said there're restaurants who are succesful wthout selling alcohol,so It's perfectly possible. Mahmoud should change some things in his restaunt like Sam said. And they really need to learn korean. It's difficult for his son to make friends because he's shy, but also because he can't comunicate as he wants nor following the classe and that's frustrating for him..I can understand him...But I'm sure it will get better. Time and effort are the best allies in this kind of cases.Don't lose hope! As I always repeat to myself: "The most important thing isn't where you start, is where you end up". So fighting everyone!! They all need to chill, tbh. If Mahmoud doesn't wanna sell alcohol so be it, no need to try to force their preferences onto him. I understand alcohol is important for Koreans, but his restaurant happens to not sell it, just like how meat is important in Korea but you wouldn't try to force a vegan restaurant to sell it. It doesn't need logic to get that and I personally think they should've used the time to find solutions for him instead of being ignorant and trying to change his rules. He can honestly still succeed with smart marketing and if he can come up with a great drink for when people ask for alcohol, he can suggest that instead. As I said, so many ideas for him, It just needs smart marketing to hit it big with his business.
@Tulipsaki9 жыл бұрын
+Kylie Stonem I agree. He could come up with mixed fruit drinks instead.
@youtubechannel38588 жыл бұрын
Andrew Lee Not really. In later episodes he met with a Muslim guy that has a successful restaurant that doesn't sell alcohol, and the reason for his success is what I suggested; that he has new stuff to offer which got popular. It goes back to my point that marketing is the most important here, and you can have better business if you have something different and unique that the customers would have to go back to your restaurant for unlike alcohol that is everywhere. I think they're just wasting time trying to make him change his rules when they could've used it to come up with better solutions/ideas for him.

To Mahmoud: there's always a way to do business without compromising your principle, it's only a matter of creativity and knowing what the customers really want. in terms of alcohol drinks, what people really want from it in my opinion is the opportunity to relax, have a good time, to just let go after a whole day of working. if you can reproduce similar kind of experience, then people coming will most likely eventually forget about the non-existence of alcohol in your store. now on what kind of things might help you do that, you will need to prepare to experiment quite a bit, i.e. massage chair perhaps, or special manicure-pedicure night for ladies, free desert, a diner counter for individual customers so they can talk about their day with you if they want to, karaoke machine, etc. you can gather ideas from people around you, and choose and test what you think will bring the best results. I wish you and your family all the best in your venture. Keep on smiling.

The biggest mistake of a person that goes to a different country than theirs is to think that would be the "same" that in home. In 8 shows of this everybody repeats the same "In my country bla bla bla" If you are moving for LIVING you need to let go many of the things that you grow up with. Don't expect that EVERYBODY will understand your culture because you really don't understand theirs too. It's very hard but if you want to live outside home unfortunately that is the rule. The man said he won't sell because of his believe and faith, Gee so what you call this 21 century freedom, Doesn't freedom include you respect others believes and faiths? don't believe in it but at least respect. You make a big deal over alcohol, A LOT OF NONE MUSLIMS who don't drink alcohol and have the same view on alcohol like islamic law, And yet no one said anything about them but when it comes to islamic law all gets nutz, Look at the bright side he don't need money to be that happy just like him now? his always smiling joking with his kids working with his wife. money important but it doesn't bring the same happiness his having even when people being desrespictful to him his still nice and all, Because he have faith and happy with what he do.

Seems episode 9 is the final episode regarding Shannon, Simon and Mahmoud. For those who are interested in Mahmoud, he took Sam's advice to heart and is making the changes to his restaurant, on top of learning from another halal restaurateur to make his own restaurant, successful. Shannon is doing well. Don't care much about Simon. He's so negative, it seems to suck the energy from everyone around him. Kudos to his girlfriend though, for doing her best to encourage him.

waaaaah the Italian person is so rude, i feel offended just by how he was acting, like no not all restaurants sell alcohol. in the UK there are many restaurants that don't sell alcohol and they're doing just fine. plus it was so unnecessary for him to have those over exaggerated actions he did.

This man named David or any other people with different races should realize that while we may strongly dislike Mahmoud 's actions, that person is following what they believe in. It may not make sense to us, but let’s try to be compassionate and understanding, just as we would like others to let us live our truths. Respect each other religious.

Korean people stare b/c biracial people are very rare in Korea and literally stick out. There's a sense that someone like Shannon might be Korean, but not completely, so this is an unusual and rare thing that automatically draws attention to one's self. Kinda like being an Asian in the Midwest or Deep South in the U.S. This happened to me all my life as a Korean American living in places throughout the U.S. Is it a bad thing? No. But you learn real quick to develop a thick skin and to behave in an inconspicuous way so as not to draw any more attention to yourself than is necessary.
