Your basing is absolutely fantastic! I love how you use the tufts with the basing texture paste. And the muddy puddles with the water effects show up nicely, too.

Very nice, I'm currently finishing off Northumberland, but also now adding Somerset and Exeter. I'll probably stick on three major commanders and then add the odd unit of minor lords and knights.
@BootsontheTable3 жыл бұрын
yeah that's a straightforward way for sure. If I didnt badger Martin for details on the minor lords I'd be doing the same!
@anthonyhinton-west99443 жыл бұрын
I'm painting for Tewkesbury, so a nice balanced collection for Edward IV and Somerset....... once that's done, I'll add troops for Barnet, giving me Warwick and Salisbury. That will eventually become a single force for the Yorkists when I go further back and paint Lancastrians for one of the battles between 1460 and 1471.
@BootsontheTable3 жыл бұрын
excellent - I was originally planning to follow a command from Northampton but then with Brother Ken picking up the period had to switch a bit so now just doing commanders I like and who's heraldry I can attempt!

Really nice figures Dom I do wish you guys would stop all this different army building I'm so tempted to buy some but I have enough with the naps ,ECW and now fantasy with my mate I really don't want to start another force . Take care glad you enjoyed your holiday building figures I can only imagine the response I would have received from the wife if I said I'm going on holiday and taking 5 boxes of figures to build . Take care Terry

I watched this because I’ve just embarked on my own project in the period. At the moment my forces consist of a single box of the Perry WotTR infantry, the first sprue of which I’m presently cleaning up. I assume the Martin you refer to is the owner of the Seventh Son channel, which I’ve recently discovered. I have his amendments for Hail Caesar, but I’m planning to use Test Of Resolve, which is actually what prompted me to begin the project, though I’ve always had an interest in the period, probably dating back to when I used to cross the bridge from which Richard III’s body had supposedly been thrown into the Soar on my way to and from school (one part of which, unknown to any of my history teachers, was adjacent to his grave). One thing that struck me in your description of your forces was the mixed units of bill- and bowmen. These are not featured in Test of Resolve, in which companies are either armed with missile or melee weapons. This is clearly something I’m going to have to delve into before deciding how to organise and base my figures.
@BootsontheTable Жыл бұрын
yes 7th Son. In his adaption of Rick Priestley's own adaption of Hail Caesar the main units are combined bill and bowmen. Typically we have one stand of bill and two if bow in the unit which works pretty well in games
@liberalhyena9760 Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your reply. What do these combined-arms ‘units’ represent, and do they function identically? I haven’t read the HC adaptation yet, but in ToR the battles (divisions) are comprised of companies, each of exclusively melee or missile-armed troops. I’m sure that in reality any given contingent would have a mixture of troop types, but it doesn’t follow that in battle they would fight together. This didn’t happen in the 100 Years War. I don’t know whether there is an ongoing debate about this as there is in relation to Japanese armies of the Sengoku period, so I’d appreciate some guidance on where to look for clarifications on this point, if possible.

Really nice work Dom. I have been tempted I can not deny. Maybe one day. I do want to get some kind of army to play hail ceaser with at some point. And although I love Romans the opponents would be the problem. Something like WOTR looks a lot more down my street.
