My New AMG G63 From Factory to Delivery!

The #AMG #G63 is the most popular version of the iconic G Class model series by Mercedes Benz. First produced in 1979, the Geländewagen is the epitome of off-road performance and styling, and really a car we all admire in some way.
Way back when, the shah of Iran (a shareholder of MB at the time) suggested a Mercedes SUV should be built. So Daimler teamed up with Austrian companies Steyr and Puch, and began development of project Haflinger II in a factory in Graz Austria, where every G is still built by hand today! And that’s the factory we will be visiting in this video!
In 1979 when it launched it had three Variants, a couple of two door short wheelbase cars one with soft top, and the classic wagon look. Ladder chassis was the base, as it is today, with three locking differentials and a host of small petrol and Diesel engines - didn’t take long for It’s ability to dominate terrain to became infamous.
The base for the current 2022 G Wagon was made by #MercedesAMG, including it’s standard Mercedes version. It’s far more dynamic, luxurious and full of tech - but still a master of off roaring, as you’ll see later in the video!
I’ve ordered a new G63, and today we will see my car at the factory. You’ll be able to see the spec, I’ll add some parts to it too, all before it gets delivered at home at the end of the video! We will then check out the thousands of “G Manufaktur” options available, including classic paints like China blue, options for black arches and new black badges and much more. We’ll then check a classic grey G63 in a unique spec, and launch control the wagon too!
I’ll then take the car on some very dodgy terrain to see what it can do as the “schoeckl proved” beast. Spoiler - much poo comes out! 💩

Dear Raz, first of all condelences for your loss! I really hope time will help to heal this wound. I'm sure your father was proud about you and your outstanding work. I decided to come with a very specific request because I know how close you are to Mercedes and how passionate you are about this brand and their cars. Unfortunatelly my experience with Mercedes so far was really bad and two weeks ago I decided to sell my current Mercedes and order a BMW M340i Touring. I bought a CLA 35 AMG shooting brake in 2019 just after its release. I fell in love with that car from the very first picture I saw. The problems started already a few days after its delivery. Eight days after I got the car the right headlight wasn't working and I had to bring the car three times to the dealer to fix it. At that time I didn't realize that this was just the tip of the iceberg. Here is a short list of the things which had to be fixed on my CLA 35 AMG: - Headlight right side (8 days afert delivery of the car) - Rear right shock absorber (2 weeks after delivery of the car) - Windowbag malfunction which caused the first control unit replacement - Airbag malfunction which caused the second control unit replacement - Door panel replacement due to noises coming from the very bad cable management behind the panels - Cylinder head replacement after only 35'000km! Appearently Mercedes knows that the stock valves can't handle the pressure. The cylindire head got replaced and the problem fixed within two weeks. - Infotainment crashes and other software malfunctions which occur in regalur intervals. - Since december 2021 the 4matic system is not working due to an appearently defect wire harness. Since then I'm driving around in a 306hp car with front wheel drive only!!!! The worst part of this whole story is that Mercedes seems to not care at all. The new wire harness is not available and they won't do anything to give a replacement or even just call me to ask wheter I would like to maybe change the car with another model which hopefully is more reliable. In addition to that this is the worst interior quality I've ever seen in a "premium" car. You hear plastic noises from every corner of the car. I've driven Dacias which felt better on the inside! Unfortunately this is my second Mercedes (first was a C 250). The C 250 had also a few issues which were not as bad as the CLA. A few colleagues bought also a CLA 35 AMG after they saw mine and two of them had a few of the same issues! The quality Mercedes is delivering since a few years is really bad and not acceptable. It would be nice if you could address that topic in one of your videos. A lot of people are complaining about the built quality of Mercedes in the recent years and nobody is talking about that. I apologize for the very long comment and it would be wonderful if you could prepare some content about that. I really hope BMW will deliver much better quality:) Best regards from Switzerland

@@Superdada yeah they have a pretty good reputation in Switzerland too. In Switzerland its one of the most sold brands. I think the quality is decreasing rapidly and for a while I won't be buying a Mercedes again.

Awesome video and what an awesomely specced car you collected. I love that brands like mercedes realise impact of these videos and gave you the vip behind the scenes access to bring the camera and allow the factory and the production line to be filmed. Gives us an insight into what goes on in coach building and the attention to detail mercedes put with it being hand made and the capability of the G on the test course.

Great video. I love seeing inside the G wagon factory. Do they allow European delivery? (I’m in US and Mercedes and Porsche allow European delivery experiences for some models. Also, it seems like every G63 in the States comes with the lower bumper bull bar (not sure how they call that in the UK/Europe. But all specs I see in UK Europe don’t have it?

I tried to order one here in Toronto, Canada. I was told 3 to 4 years waiting list. Basically, you have to trade in an older one or pay close to 100 000 dollars over msrp, according to sales rep. I guess it will never happen. Great video by the way, one of the best I’ve seen.
