Two of them make a sealed tipi for real overnight rain shelter, but i think in that use case a 10x8 tarp is better. This shelter however is amazing looking as a true emergency shelter for a day trip. Best for sitting up waiting out the rain or laying down curled up. A small light matt you could also carry if yoh really need to lay down and also curl up is the paria recharge S. The S stands for short. Its only 48"long but its like 4" thick and oretty comy to lay down on. Packs wat smaller than a real sleep pad and is like ,10-13oz. Id say a nice overnight or emergency set up is this shelter, a snugpack bivy and a recharge S sleep pad. If its colder you could use the jungle blanket instead of or in addition to the bivy. These items all pack super small. I wouldnt trust then over multiple nights but for survival or as an ultralight overnight that will fit in a day pack essentially its a good bet. With that said there are better options if you want to spend more and get better nore reliable gear. Even tho doubling as a poncho is nice i would probably rather have a high quality ultralight tarp and for bugs pair it with the paria bug bivy. Its just more vesatile, better in rain, just as light if not lighter, packs smaller and is more dusrble and reliable. You could get the paria bug bivy($69 and a ultra TNT tarp($220). The tarp has lots of soze options. 10x8 is probably best for ultralight but they also have an 11x8 that i believe is long enough to fit the oairia bivi under it while pitching the taro as an ENCLOSED A-frame. For sure you could dondoors on one end. This solution is around 2lb combined with the 10x8 tarp. Which in essence is a budget ultralight two wall tent made of a dyneema-like material. Sure you could get the lanshan pro in dyneema or something similar but i dont like single wall tents, especially at that price. The two wall tents are almost all nylon fly. The exception i found to this is the "double rainbow dw" by tarptent. This is a great option imo. The standard version is polyester which i orefer to nylon and is around $375. Pricey for a polyester tent but its still only 41oz with stakes and guylines and its a true 2p tent at 50" floor width. Its basically the perfect "if i only had 1 tent", tent. You can improve on this with their uktra version which has a fly as strong, waterproof and packable as dyneema but it doesnt save much weitght and is a little over $100 more for the tent. If koney were no issue if get the ultra as the main reason i like polyester is the low stretch low absorb porperties. The uktra tnt fabric is basically renforced plastic that is not woven so its 100% hydrophobic and non porous. Anyways, ive never tried it but it seems cool. Its downside is it doesnt handle abbrasion well so its only good for rainfly type applications, its not good for ground cover applications.. its super strong tensioe but not to abrasion

I just purchased the One Wind bivey solo tent and I'm very well pleased . The tent performed excellent in heavy rain and wind with no issues whatsoever. I would highly recommend One Wind products not only for their dependability but price as well.
