I just bought a Van Staal VR200 Gen 2 over this. It took me a while to decide between the two. The choice finally came down to parts availability. I do love the looks (and price) of the Tsunami SaltX. The quality appears to be on par as well. I will probably buy one at some point. I tried to find a parts source for the SaltX reels and can't find anything online. I'm not suggesting Tsunami wouldn't fix the reel if something failed but I'd much prefer being able to buy parts as opposed to sending the reel to a service center.

Why do you say that? What makes it better? Just curious as to why you feel that way. In my opinion the Daiwa Saltist has been the best value reel to come out in a while. I've got two staals and love them. I feel the Quality Control isn't there with Tsunami yet. But they're gaining on it.

@@csmithfishing4380 but if they last longer are sealed much better and made out of much more solid components what's the issue? Snap on and Matco tools cost 10x as much as harbor freight. But come with a lifetime warranty and won't break on the job within a few uses. I never thought I'd buy a Staal but I bought one years ago and love it so much a bought another. I own an old US model built in the early 90's and a newer China produced and they're both sweet reels. If all you can afford is a BG nothing wrong with that they're good reels for the money. But I don't think a Staal is a ripoff by any means. Costs money to run CNC machines making all those parts and the materials aren't cheap by any stretch.

Someone local to Melbourne Beach makes a no-see-um spray that you can find at most of the bait shops. All natural with different citruses and stuff to repel them. It works pretty good

Crazy to think people pay almost 1000 dollars for a staal when the salt x its 300 buck for 50 pounds of max drag compared to like 35 40 for the van staal 😂 I’m picking me up one for big reds and smoker kings

I picked one up for the spring run of stripers up here in jersey. Only issue is Theres a slight squeak but after learning about that squeak in my reel I’ve reeled in well over 30 fish and that thing still puttin in the work. I’m assuming I have to oil it somewhere because whatever was previously there may have washed away when a waved crashed. Idk love the reel it’s just the slight squeak but it still performs

I have both. Sounds like they could possibly be a defective one but no telling without actually feeling the reel. I would suggest bringing it back to where you got it from if that's the case.

I use this reel in saltwater almost every day and often dunk it. I've never opened it up, just a light rinsing after every use. Yes, I do work with Tsunami, but I will never push a product I wouldn't spend my own money on.

All I'm trying to say is ur fan base will grow / be very loyal to you if u give honest real world reviews of products , open the reel up and show us what's good and bad about it , maybe make suggestions on what they can improve on the reel .
