Beth, please go to a paint shop. Walnut is one of the most desirable and expensive woods. You could have the proprietor use different stains on unstained walnut. Some stains may really surprise you!. You could have the wood stripped and restained. That would be my choice. But of course, this is your house, lol.

Beth I think your beautiful home needs a foyer asap. I love white too I get it but I would keep all the wood doors and flooring as is. Wood is expensive. People with limited budget go for all white which looks clean and neat. But nothing looks as expensive and as timeless like wood. Look for famous home designers’ work they mostly go for wood. And that wall you want to tear down adds a nice privacy to your living area. Good luck with your reno work.

Pease, pleaeaease don't rip out the walnut floors! If you don't like the finish on them, just have them refinished! You're going to save a TON of money by doing that and they're going to look fantastic. Also, refinished walnut (to a lighter colour) can work with white oak very well. I think it's a great idea to make all the trim white. Even if this IS solid wood, so it might seem blasphemous to some, to paint wood, but not to me! It will add a ton of light. And great idea, to have a white quarz countertop. Those look fantastic, and are so easy to maintain. I would also take the carpet out of your future gym room, what with the sweat and all. Beautiful house! Can't wait to see what you do with it! Best of luck!

I thought when she first spoke about taking out the wood from the main entrance and dinning area that she was going to say that it would be recycled to be the timber she wants in the hallways . So I think she means she is going to tear out some wood to replace it with different wood?? I’m confused but I do hope she reads all the comments about restraining the original wood. Imo such a terrible waste of resources and money otherwise

Designed purposefully as a home office but especially for anyone that would be having clients come to their home office. With the view to the front of the house to see who is approaching the house and right by the front door so the client wasn’t getting to see your whole house. So apart from helping to keep heating costs down, those double doors to the great room would have also been to help with privacy.

Love the house Beth but when it becomes sterile, I am not so sure. It is totally your house. I absolutely love all the wood as is, trim, doors, kitchen. A couple of the bathrooms are a bit dark. I always wonder why people want free standing tubs. I like the ledge, partly to prevent water from getting on the floor but I like to have my wine and candles and you would have to bring in some tables around a free standing tub. I would die for those floors, trim and doors. Just absolutely gorgeous. But it is your house and if you want the sterile look then go for it. I'll be crying at the final reveal video lol. Beth your new home is priceless. I mean that literally. People pay a fortune to have walnut in their homes. Wealthy homes are not all white. Anyone can have an all white home but not too many could have this gorgeous walnut home you found. You would have been wise to buy a different home. You will be making an enormous mistake to change everything so soon. What if in the end it isn’t the look your after. This house was designed to look expensive and it does. Just consider and get some professional advice before you make so many major changes. I speak from experience. I bought a home with stained woodwork and white was what everyone had and I couldn’t wait to get the house painted white. I got sick and it was the best thing that could have happened. Once we moved in I fell in love with the way it looked. It is so inviting and warm and I am so thankful I didn’t jump the gun. White would have looked horrible and cheap. Think about some more.

I love the natural look of the wood trim. That's a beautiful house!! Good luck with it! My brother is a carpenter and he says quarts is the best stone to use as a kitchen countertop. The problem with the white trim is it has to be cleaned a lot. It gets crappy looking after a while. It's much easier to maintain a natural wood trim in my humble opinion. Hi Beth, Great to see you back! I hope you feel uplifted by the positive comments! You asked for ideas re your lovely new home, so I respectfully offer mine. Steer away from "the furniture store look" i.e. a dining table constantly set. Rethink trends that age a home, such as interior signs like "Happiness". Instead of national chain stores, buy local to give your home a unique feel. Display personal items from your travels. It would be fun to see some of Kansas represented in your home art. This gives your home a more curated feel. Congratulations on your exciting project. And blessings to your and yours.

It's nice to be able to close the doors to the kitchen when you are having a formal meal. Most of the time, you'll probably be eating in the kitchen. I agree about the light over the dining table. I love love, love KNOTTY Alderwood. I love the wood underneath your granite on the bar all the detail oh my gosh, it looks so rich, white and gold fixtures. They say are going out my architecture. Designer said don’t paint your cabinets white you’re telling me this is the house you wanna retire in because in seven years you’ll be redoing those white cabinets because they chip. White paint lays on top of the wood staingoes into the wood and will not chip. He was right when we built our house I changed my mind. Did not paint my kitchen cabinets white and I’m so thankful I did not go dark with a lighter stain Antique white from Sherwin-Williams.

I love that wood too. I think it's so pretty and so natural.

I have maple cabinets that are just a touch lighter than her cabinets and in the kitchen I have quartz that looks like white marble. You need a contrast. Everything white will be way too much white. I think maybe I'd agree with her going with white baseboards and white crown molding. All that white -- yuck! I like the warmth of wood. Too much trying to change this house to be like the other house. Big waste of money. But, apparently they have money to burn.

Wood color is coming back I'm learning too. I am sad that walnut is going away 😞

Wow! This is a really nice house! And that view on the lake! You have a lot of taste so I am sure it will be beautiful after you make all the changes! I have to admit that painting white all that nice wood is a shame but painting the wood all white will probably brighten your house and will give it a more modern look! I can’t wait to see the final result! Watching you from Montreal, Quebec!

The wood floors in the walk-in from the front door are gorgeous...use white stain not paint. Ask your painter if he sands it down and stains it a white he won't have to fill in all those rough spots could save you thousands. If he does the job right he has to sand it all down and then fill in all those uneven textured spots which he probably have to put almost a full coat of spackle over the whole door to make it even. Slow down and rethink some of it.or not... Congratulations enjoy

That basement looks cozy and has great views. It seems like it would be really fun to stay down there for a few months. Good luck!❤

Your new home is beautiful and so is the view! I can't wait to see the renovations you do in it. I definitely like the idea of painting the wood. All of that stained wood looks very dated, and the white will brighten and enlarge the appearances of the spaces you paint..Toni Floyd

It’s huge!! I think you should not paint all the wood white. Maybe leave the fireplaces in wood to warm up the rooms. I am so happy for you. I can hear the excitement in your voice. Enjoy and hugs from Australia. ☺️🙏🏼🍷😊

You are going to be so happy in this house ! The house does need warm colours however ! So gold accent throughout the house would be beautiful! The greys and steel looks are almost a thing of the past ! Yes , I know it’s irritating , that’s just because the vendors can produce new merchandise every five years ! Congratulations on your new home and it’s beautiful by the lake !

Hi Beth. The home is beautiful and the view is beautiful as well. You asked about Quartz counters. I have them in my home and really like them a lot. They have seemed pretty durable so far and we've lived in our home for 4 years now. Can't wait to see what changes you make.

Those wood doors are so beautiful, and the trim, it just makes my heart heart hurt to see if painted white. I do agree in white for kitchen though!

Beth please rethink painting your beautiful wood. Its gorgeous don't do just plain Jane white wood. 5 years from now it will chip and peel.
@FiftyPlusBeauty7 ай бұрын
Hi Nancy. Actually, I wish I had explained that better in the video. The house is truly lovely. Just the way it is. Unfortunately, the white tram is just more to my taste. I grew up in white trim houses and it always says to me. You are right though the maintenance is higher on painted trim. I keep a stock of Q-tips in the trim paint and about every three months I go through the house dabbing little nicks.

I do not know the age of the house, but it is classic and beautiful and rare as it is, and that view and open space and water energy is priceless. America is full of modern “white” IKEA look houses, and I think it is a tragedy to destroy the unique beauty of this lovely home. I grew up in the Sixties in England where one gorgeous classic Stately Home was destroyed every week because of the Government’s criminal Death Duty Taxes. Those homes are lost for ever. Thank God we have learned to value the remaining Stately Homes and they are authentically preserved. I can guarantee that when you finally leave this home the new owners will try and restore all the beautiful wood which matches the lake setting so well. I would live in the house as it is, maybe only changing the brown bathrooms and spend the money on a Keto Chef, masseur and fitness trainer, but maybe you already have those. Congratulations on doing Carnivore when the rest of the family are eating “normally”, you are truly amazing for achieving that, well done. It would be so much better for your health and well-being to have a Chef and get away from the microwave and processed foods. I hear about Dirty Keto but there appears to be Dirty Carnivore as well. I think Dr Anthony Chaffee, busy as he is, just cooks a second Ribeye and chops it up in a container to take to work. No burger and processed cheese. You are what you eat and the microwave is so bad for your health. I researched them thirty years ago and have never owned or used one! Good luck with your renovations but I will not be watching, it would be too heartbreaking!! Thank God you and Alan appear to have the same design taste, if he was like me it would be divorce time😂😂Namaste 🙏

I love your new home Beth! And I love that you have a vision to make it your own. I have quartz countertops, white-ish. They are very easy to keep clean and respond well to a Magic Eraser. Thank you for sharing. I’m excited to see your progress. My tip is to put up plastic between the floors. The dust will infiltrate all your doorways and ductwork.

Hi I’m new to your channel. Wow I love your new house, I’m tired of people always saying once you turn 60 , is time to downsize not in my book . Glad I found your channel, you give me so much hope we been living in our house for 30 years. I told my husband is time to move and go to another state . I’m originally from Chicago, born and raised. But been living in Florida, for 30 years I do not like the heat and I miss my four seasons 😢. Thank you so much God bless you and family. Happy Mother’s Day. 🙏🏻🥰😘😍
