It’s worth mentioning that you have to turn on your Mac then launch the luna display app using an external monitor before you can enter headless mode on your iPad. I purchased and returned it because sidecar was a better use case in my situation.
@anthonyaguilar24672 жыл бұрын
I recently bought it and set it to start automatically when I turn on my mac mini. Then time passes and the mac goes to sleep; I can get it to work from anywhere in the house that has WiFi, I just open the Luna Display app on the iPad and voila; I enter the password of my user and I can work without problem. (this is something that doesn't work with Sidecar, as you have to be logged in to enable it). Another thing I discovered is that with two fingers I can act as a mouse wheel (something that doesn't have a sidecar either) and what I didn't know is the right click issue, but well I solve it by pressing "control + click" so I only use a keyboard , in my case a Smart Keyboard Folio and the iPad

I ended up buying a usb-c portable 15.6" 4k monitor ($200'ish fr amazon, I calibrated it for color so I can edit photos). I took the Apple magic keyboard & magic trackpad. Hey Tausif! I’m not a techie but I’m fascinated by DIY and customization. My mind is blown at your setup. I’ve been wanting to do a portable/ iPad/Mac mini setup for awhile now. Thank you so much!! 😄

Wow I could see this being someone’s whole computer setup, esp if they have the 12.9” iPad Pro

I just discovered Astropad 3 weeks ado and bought the Mac Mini, the $1300 one with 4 ports. The cheaper one only has 2 and the Astro device uses one leaving you only one for a large monitor. This setup is sick!

Isn't this the exact same functionality from macOS Sidecar? there are plenty of reviews of this being built-in...

Yo man, can I use the ipad keyboard with this configuration? Or does the keyboard have to be plugged into the mac mini

Very cool! I have duet display but the lag is quite noticeable and you can’t really do headless mode. If you’re having issues with wifi in the evening, try changing your router’s channel to a different one that isn’t as crowded. Most routers use the same channel by default and so it can get quite congested during peak usage times. Changing to a channel that isn’t used as much (which most people don’t even know you can do) can really improve performance :)

Super stupid question, but is this built in by Apple or is this some sort of work-around? What happens to the iPad computer while it’s running the Mac Mini? Does it glitch and switch back regular iPad mode?
