Steve's current recumbent trike is a 2021 HP Velotechnik Scorpion fs26 Enduro, outfitted with Schwalbe Marathon PLUS road tires instead of the stock knobby off-road tires. He has also owned a 2015 ICE Full Fat off-road trike, a 2014 Catrike 700 speed trike, and a 2007 ICE Qnt trike ... not to mention three bikes (Specialized Roll Elite - Motobecane Night Train fat tire - Easy Racers Gold Rush recumbent)

I went through this a couple of years ago. I had inline 'bents, then discovered trikes. I enjoyed trikes but remembered the fun and balance of inline 'bents. So now I have two trikes and four inline bents - two LWB and two SWB.

Yes, recumbents are fun to ride, both two and three wheel versions! I really do love the motorcycle feel that a two wheeled recumbent provides me, which reminds me of my growing up years on motorcycles. There is something about riding a two wheeler that a three wheeler can't provide. Having both is of course the solution! steve

I owned a Rans SWB rocket. I did not care for the twictchey steering. Your LWB should be better on stirring. I even clipped in. Pretty disastrous when look back. Thanks Trike Hobbo. On the trail in Prescott,there is a retired couple that cruise on their LWB recumbents. I bought my ICE Adventure from the past owner of the Hostel Shoppe. Nice folks in Wisconsin. I drove from Minneapolis St Paul metro in 2016. I should order a Full Fat goat head ,, Tannus. ,,I use one. With a little slime. I wish Ice would design front fenders for that beast. YES, ICE needs fenders for the front wheels on their Full Fat trikes!!! When I bought mine, right after they came out, they didn't even have a rear fender, so I had to make my own, which I incorporated into a custom designed rear rack (because ICE did not have a rear rack that would hold a top trunk for carrying things). Patrick (from ICE) told me years ago that they were not yet selling a sufficient number of Full Fat trikes to make the investment in fenders financially worthwhile, but that may have changed since 2015 I suspect. I still do not have my new LWB recumbent bike, but will report on the handling once I get it (hope it's better than the Gold Rush I used to have, haha). steve

i would love to get a new velotechnik seat for my street machine, i just cant stomach the 700 euro price for it, come on its basically a well made beach chair, thumbs up for your mystery lwb, i cant guess what it is

For sure, none of this cycling stuff is inexpensive these days! Prices have gone through the roof all around, which I believe began with covid supply chain issues worldwide. But they have us over the barrel if we want a certain item ... we have no choice but to pay the price (unless we find it on eBay used). I will share my new bike, when and if it gets here, haha. Hope it's sooner than later! steve

That sounds like a good topic Daniel. I have certainly experienced it on my cross country adventures. Around locally, I plan around weather, and wait to ride when it's either sunny, or at least just cloudy, but dry. On long trips, a rider has no choice at times, and deciding to put on the full rain gear clothing is not always straightforward. If it's just a sprinkle, sometimes I'll just deal with it, but if it's a downpour and I have no shelter close by, I'll put on rain gear (under a tree at least if one is close by). Sometimes, I have just sat out the rain under the shelter of a convenient building roof or awning. If it comes time to camp, and it's raining cats and dogs, I'll just get a motel if I am near a town. Yep, rain is a reality for multi-day journeys, but usually it is manageable. It's just the occasional downpour that can really throw a monkey wrench into things. steve

Sun EZ is my guess. Well whatever it is I hope you will get a lot of joy from it. The price of everything has skyrocketed due to the pandemic. The pandemic caused a supply shortage of nearly everything. Low supply plus sustained or higher demand equals higher prices. I don't think anyone would believe that manufacturers and other corporations will lower the prices back to pre-pandemic prices now that supplies are back to normal.

That's for sure Martin ... I bet they will definitely NOT lower their prices now that they are getting all that extra profit. Sun is the parent company of SunSeeker, and the "EZ" stands for what Gardner Martin designed back in the late seventies (Easy Racer Gold Rush, with EZ sounding just like Easy). So instead of Easy Racer, it's now EZ Sport because this 2004 redesign was not made to get world speed records, but rather to open recumbent bikes up to a broader audience of riders who did not like the twitchy feeling of the Gold Rush. steve

No name change this time around ... did that a few years ago when I did some bicycle stuff, and had my first recumbent two wheeler. I use the Trike Hobo words in some of my books, so it's actually best for me to keep use of it so folks don't get any more confused as to who I really am. Heck, even I am sometimes confused, haha. steve
