They all have that DPF problem when theyre new, its the def tank heater/pump unit, once its fixed it wont have the problem again. It happened to our 2020 High Country too. Same thing with the mileage too, it got bad mileage until the emissions were fixed, now it pulls 20+ mpg unloaded on the highway. Also the exhaust brake doesnt activate unless you touch the brake pedal.

Bruv, exhaust brake you gotta use the brake. The tailgate hitting the hitch, that should have been obvious from the start. As far as the check engine light, i bet if you disconnect the battery for 10-15 minutes, it might clear it up. With all these electronics in these new trucks, sometimes you gotta just unplug it and plug it back in. I've heard great things about the 6.6 with the allison. These emission systems are criminal.

Never had any of these issues with any of my L5ps or even my 2024. While I was a diesel tech at gm for a bit I had a bunch of 21-22 L5ps sitting in the lot down for def heater issues and the fix was just programming that needed done, issue was most people couldn’t get the truck in the shop in time and the reductant heater fried itself. The exact same message popping up on your dash but was permanently stuck. I highly doubt it’s your def heater because that issue has been resolved but has happened before. As for fuel economy the best I’ve gotten on highway is with my 2024 Denali HD 3500 SRW I have about 2k miles and highway I’m around 18.7 and city around 10.5-12. The next best I’ve had was my 2022 and it was deleted getting 17-18. The exhaust brakes on these newer L5ps work really well once it sees a steeper grade or you tap the brakes a few times.

I have an 18 lifted Denali Diesel. Was thinking about trading for a new one. Not now after watching some of these videos. My exhaust brake works good. I just touch the brake pedal enough to activate the brake lights and it seems to kick in.
@R3lyc
@R3lyc Жыл бұрын
The exhaust brake works best with the cruise control activated. Pre select a speed going down hill and it will use both the grade braking and the exhaust brake to hold your selected speed. It does activate when the switch is turned on after you touch the brakes but I’ve found the cruise control method works best. Re: emissions problems Assuming you have not got a bad sensor (which is likely my 2021 has had multiple failed sensors), the emissions system on these trucks is a calculated % based on driving conditions. I could be burning down the highway loaded right up and it will almost run a passive regen when driving. I can go 12 hours and not see a regen cycle. Then let’s say I hit a city at 75%, the stop and go traffic will rapidly change the calculation and bump me up to 100% in less than an hour. Which is horrible because it can’t do a regen cycle while in stop and go traffic. It needs a sustained speed of about 45 miles an hour minimum for approximately 30-45 minutes to complete a regen cycle once it has begun. Soot levels will accumulate fast in the city and it will do one regen per tank on average in my experience. On the highway towing I can go a 1000 miles or more before it might regen. I use the bluedriver to monitor all this so I don’t interrupt a regen cycle if it can be avoided. The ONE option I want to see is the ability to manually regen while on the highway. That would make life so much better for me and the emissions system. If I was getting close to my destination and knew I was close to a regen I would love to be able to initiate a regen 45 minutes before I get to where I’m going so I can shut the thing off and not worry about the 1100 degrees exhaust burning down the grassy fields I might have to drive through.

I have the same issue, the dealer has had my truck a month. The DPF filters have high % defective. That DPF restriction goes in 3 stages, first level of diff it’s just a light, 2nd is reduced accel, then limp. If you see a DPF light, immediately address it or you’ll end up on the side of the road. Not sure why it wasn’t going thru regen like it’s supposed or if that is the real issue.

Seen a lot exhaust def injector sticking open causing low line pressure and burning up pumps way early. Take your scan tool and command the def pump on see if it build’s pressure. If you can hear the pump running pull your injector out and command on and see if it’s just spraying out. Seen to many injectors go bad last couple years. Usually won’t set a dtc you can read.

I’ve worked a lot with big fleets and our GM and Dodge trucks constantly experience exhaust issue’s really fast when pulling trailers. They still do when not pulling just not as fast. Needless to say they spend more of their life in the service center than on the road. Blame the government for that. While all trucks have their problems our fords have stayed on the road much longer as well as handle the heavy loads much better all without exhaust issues de-rating the truck. If you didn’t want the big screen then buy the base model.

I've always bought new until recently. I bought an '03 dually, 6 speed, coal burning, glacier melting F350 with no rust. I won't have a problem with putting in $10K - $15K. I'm petty sure I'll have a better truck than anything that can be bought new today.

Bruce, I have a LTZ Silverado with Duramax. I also been having a bunch of issues. I thought I was the only one. I had No start with continual cranking. I have my own scan tool so I got it started. It went into a limp mode recently with extremely hard shifting with metellic sounds. I took it to the dealer and tech said they have to Order a new ECU. I've had Led drl go out on each side very inconsistent. I have yet to get the step issue as I have power steps aswell. Overall I'm disappointed with the truck thus far. I'm at 1,800 miles completely unacceptable

Guys you don't have to buy a 300 dollar hitch for these. I took my regular 20 dollar hitch, slid it all the way into the receiver, and just drilled a new hole for the pin..... Works perfect and doesn't hit the tailgate so step.... Just FYI 🙂

The miles to the gallon is some the driver and some the truck if you step on it like if you have to be going 60 in 5seconds then it won’t get good mileage my 2019 chevy l5p gets good highway but around 14 with trailer mine runs to Sarasota on 2 1/2 tanks of diesel at 32 gallon tank and burn outs are always gonna cause issues you play you pay

Lmao. That's normal for Isuzu's. It's an easy fix. The rice filter is plugged. Just have to use chop sticks to clean it out then change from rice to rice milk mix, then add c4, a shot and boom, fixed. Then you go get a fiat ram since they at least have the cummins because let's be real, I wouldn't drive a Nissan either.

The car I have through the same code. Took it to dealer and it just needed updated. It was something with the computer that tells everything what to do. When I called dealer they were 2 weeks out on being able to get it in but said it was fine to drive. Come to find out the code they gave me when looked up said “DO NOT DRIVE”. But it made my trans slip also. I’d say that’s what it is it needs an update

I mean with that price tag I better get everything on the inside top of the line. But I like it better when trucks were trucks, like the classic king ranch 6.0, real cowhide, nice little clock radio, made for cattle ranchers, now everthing is a dang trend and it’s 80-100k for a truck and all it’s stupid little gadgets, like some of these trucks have a weight ready for towing? Like wtf you don’t need that shit, and if you do, don’t need to be driving trucks.
