Another thing about chores and helping in the kitchen, is that kids are learning self-reliance and how to take care of themselves for the future. My mom and her brother were both taught to do basic mending of clothes as well as how to cook. Both were taught how to clean and organize. They passed these lessons on to their children-though I can’t sew/mend to save my life.

Your daughter amazes me how much she loves to cook and how well he does with it! What a blessing! She’ll be a great cook when she grows up! Also, you are so wise to train your kids to help around the house. With a family of 7 everyone needs to know things don’t just magically get done. I love my O’Cedar mopping system also!

I love my spin mop. Just pop the mop head off when your done and throw it in the washing machine. Your routine is exactly what my home was like growing up and after I got married. As a nurse working different shifts, I wasn't always there but my husband would take over and carry on because we always felt routine and continuity in home life gave our children the feeling of security.

I live with my mom and she has clutter everywhere. I can’t even wipe the counters down with having to take 15 minutes to remove everything and 20 minutes to put I back because I forget where everything goes. i saw on tv a famous family with one of the daughters, mid twenties in age i would guess, making a salad (they have a chef). she was slicing a long cucumber and her arms were criss-crossed as she did it so carefully. it was evident she'd never done it before. oy. self-reliance in children is such a wonderful, character-building trait. they can only benefit from it. sonya, watching you do all the cleaning made me tired and ready for bed. btw, i have that mop set and love it. i have several mophead changes so i can wash them all when they're dirty and have a decent sized load for the washer. cheers to you all!

My sister and I were responsible for doing dishes (before dishwashers!) as soon as we could reach the sink! We learned how to clean the whole house and take care of a baby (we were at the top end of 9 kids!). Now even though I am almost 70 I still remember those lessons. But girl you need to get one of those robot vacs! They even have some that vacuum and mop!! LOL!! Thanks for showing us your beautiful new home. May God fill it with love and laughter!

You are helping me with a lot of stuff. There is psychology in your kitchen. My mom and dad brought in different elements from their past. I learned much from them. From cooking 🥘 🧹cleaning and organizing. I just learned how to use the timer on the stove. I tried cooking paper yesterday. The things I don’t use as often I put on the top shelves. I even see some nursing 🤱 education in your kitchen. Thank you 🙏 for all that you share. Mimi

I am 59 and appreciate how you teach your children now so they can be self reliant and know how to cook and clean when they are older. It's also great mommy/child time and you are making memories with them that will last a life time. I agree with Phyllis. You might want to look into the robot vacuum and robot mop. They do a good job and you can press a button and then go for a walk a little earlier. When you come back, press another button and go to bed. Well worth the time saved. :-)

Seeing you roast that cauliflower brought back memories of my own mother's recipe, one of my favorites for many years. It's very similar to yours, but she sauteed it instead of roasting it. We do have separate everything for milk and meat- not sure what you mean... I dont throw away anything before Passover. There is a process of selling items in your home that are considered Hametz. This is done so that those items are no longer the person property. They are put away in a designated area before Passover begins. After Passover things are bought back.
