Noah did a great job on this trifle, it took hours to make and he stayed very patient and was very kind to let me help him out. It turned out great.
Recipe:
First Noah made the cake, he just used a traditional cake mix And made it according to the box. We did that first so it would give the cake time to cool when it was done.
While the cake was cooking, he made the custard. He heated 4 cups of whole milk on the stove on low until it started to simmer, while the milk was heating up he combined eight egg yolks, 1/2 cup of sugar, 4 tablespoons of cornstarch. He mix that up then slowly very very slowly added the milk making sure not to cook the eggs, continuing to stir as the milk was added. Once that was completed he put the whole mixture back into the sauce pot and simmered until he seen bubbles start to form on the sides of the pans. Then he removed it off of the stove and added 1 1/2 teaspoons of vanilla stirred, then let’s set five minutes and then added his 1/2 cup of butter cut into small pieces. He stirred that until the butter was melted then Poured it into a bowl and covered it with saran wrap making sure the saran wrap touched the top of the custard so it would inform a film on it. Then put it into the fridge for about an hour
He then prepared his fruit, he combined 2 cups of sliced strawberries, one cup of fresh raspberries, 1 tablespoon of Sherry, and 1 tablespoon of white sugar. He stirred that up and set it aside so the fruit the sugar and the sherry could kind of blend together.
He made his homemade whipped topping, it was one and a half cups of heavy whipping cream and 1 teaspoon of powdered sugar. He makes that on high until peak started to form.
Now to construct the trifle, he cut his cake in half and then horizontally and flipped over the tops and brushed it with Sherry, and then raspberry jam. He cut the cake into squares then began to layer his trifle.
He layer the bottom of his trifle dish with the cake, then the fruit, then custard, and last the whipped topping. Noah than repeated all of the layers And decorated the top with strawberries and raspberries. This trifle was truly amazing, Noah did a great job.
