I am 46 minutes in and needed to pause for a moment. When you said, “Who do you think you are that you could wear a dress this beautiful? …. My first thought was unworthiness.” That brought me to tears! And I mean lump in my throat, trying not to burst out in full sob, tears. I’m 42 years old and still get triggered by all the history of a Mormon upbringing. Anyway, back to watching. You both are absolutely lovely! Thank you. Just thank you ❤

@@CultstoConsciousness you two are so cute! Nice circle back on the Linda listen. 👏 I personally love that you interact with everyone in the comments. You’ve added a much larger scaled space for people to share than you may even realize by doing so. Not only does your guest get a safe place to share traumas and triumphs. We, as the audience, get to as well. And we feel heard! ❤️ I’m so happy for you both in all your life’s journey thus far and excited to watch as you continue to grow in here and your personal lives. Bravo! P.S. - A live would be so fun for so many. 🙌

Thank you for sharing. My husband and I met in July and got engaged in September, we married in October. We just celebrated our 12 year anniversary. I always thought I'd feel embarrassed about getting married so fast, but to my surprise, all I feel is grateful that my husband and I found ourselves and were sure. Of course, there have been people who assume I was preggo and that was the reason, because our daughter was born one week before our 1st anniversary. We just laugh because those people obviously can't math. We know our daughter's conception date (New Year's day 2012, we took a chance that day, figured if it was meant to happen it would, and she was born in October 10 days late), but what they don't know is that we'd been celibate before getting engaged, and decided together just to wait until our wedding night because it was a month away. Neither one of us is religious. These were decisions we just made as a couple. People's assumptions can be so nonsensical, I had to learn to just laugh and either set them straight or just tell them, "Yeah, sure, you're right. That math works." Funny story, my husband's best friend is the brother of my best friend since I was 10 y.o.. We met on a cruise out of Baltimore to Bermuda. Through 15 years of sleepovers, Hebrew lessons, Bah/Bat Mitzvahs, parties, etc, we never met. Not until we'd both been single and healing from very different traumas for years. We met at a BBQ for my bestie coming back to our home state, and we ended up talking the entire time. He asked me out, and I was hesitant, though I liked him, I'd spent the past two years healing from an ED, focusing on renewal and not thinking about relationships. My mom really liked him, and she said "If you don't want to go out with him, that's OK. If you do, don't let fear hold you back. You're stronger than you give yourself credit for, and he likes your strength." 12 Years later, 3 children, I'm his families daughter/sister, he's my families son/nephew, and we've grown so much together and individually. I almost passed after the birth of our 3rd, and I've never seen him more shaken. We're both stalwart people, but when it comes to each other, our walls break down. Their wedding is beautiful. I would love to do something like this. Our 1st ceremony was at the courthouse, with the large reception. I hope once the 2nd wave of the panny is over we can do a renewal with the level of thought and detail they put into theirs.

I love this video so much. I grew up Pentecostal in the Caribbean and for a lot of my life, I couldn’t fully express myself. I was shamed for dancing, I was shamed for what I wore, and, because of how well known my parents were in the community, I had to be on my best behaviour at all times. I dulled myself for so long and I hid behind the fragment of myself that I was told was acceptable. Now, at 26, I no longer subscribe to a religion and I am learning how to be myself. This beautiful wedding and all of the love and passion that went into it encapsulates how I want to approach life going forward. Thank you for sharing with us.

I found this channel a while ago, but never commented. I am home sick today, so I am now addicted to your videos. In my old neighborhood we had a Mormon family that moved in next-door to us. The mother was so young and she had had five children. They were very nice at first, but then they just became strange. Then they talked the neighbor that lived on the opposite side to me to sell their house to one of their church members. Before I realized it, my whole cul-de-sac was filled with Mormon families. Needless to say we moved. Only to realize that there is a Mormon church up the road from us.

I am born and raised Utahn but “never Mormon” actually raised Catholic. My husband was born and raised in California but we met at 19 years old and in true Utah fashion we were engaged 2 months after our first date, bought our first home 5 months after that and jumped right into planning a wedding we had 4 months after that. We are nearly 20 years from that first date and I don’t regret a moment 💛

I really appreciate what you do and that I found your channel recently. I grew up Mormon and after moving out at 18 I stopped going to church. After having kids I would have panic attacks thinking about how I wasn't going to be married in the temple and wasn't going to be with my family forever. At 28 years I still feel fear and guilt for leaving the religion because the nicest people I have met have been Mormon. Your channel has helped me see how crazy some of the beliefs are and realize it's OK to leave mormanism
@CultstoConsciousness
@CultstoConsciousness Жыл бұрын
Thank you for sharing that. The fear is real. I think once we can recognize the fear tactics that are used and why they are used on the congregations, can help us release them. They are for control. I’m going to bet your kids will grow up to thank you for not raising them in that environment. Everything good about Mormonism can be found elsewhere ❤️

I'm a Mormon and I believe in the gospel, but not some of the practices. My husband and I had our uncle officiate our wedding. 😂😂😂😂 I had no time to cry tears of joy because I was laughing so hard. In his "tips for a loving spouse" bit, my uncle told us "you can wear your wife's deodorant, but don't wear her underwear." I wore a red veil to match the red lace on my dress. My bridesmaids wore a lumberjack flannel cardigan while my husband and the groomsmen wore jeans, flannel and workboots. Also, my two kids walked me down the aisle. This was my first wedding, might I add. I guess you could say I had a not-so-mormon wedding as well. You are awesome and I love your wedding. It's much more beautiful than my own, but I think everyone likes their own wedding best. Happy marriage and best of luck!

This video just made me SO happy, I am a TV watcher so I rarely comment on anything but this one made me whip out my phone to say congrats!!! What an amazing wedding, y'all look amazing, just beaming with joy! I'm SO impressed with everything y'all pulled off with the planning! As a fellow exmo who had a not Mormon wedding (I also married a never-mo), I am SO grateful I didn't get married in one of those boring culty sealing rooms with the majority of the people I care about not present. I actually did many many proxy sealings before I left and the memories are just cringe now, holding the hands of many way older men across the alter as a young YSA for sealing after sealing just like they do baptisms.... makes me cringe now..... Anyway, I say all the time to other exmos, the best way to prove there is life after Mormonism is to just LIVE! Live your best life and you are such an example of that!!!! Thank you!!!!

What a stunning wedding, and I love love love seeing how much you two love each other and how happy you are! I haven't been following long (was drawn in by everything surrounding Shiny Happy People), but stuff like you two being so happy just makes me happy. I'm 23 years into this marriage thing and we still love each other deeply. I was married young (we were Southern Baptists at the time, he's Acts 29 and I'm agnostic now) and part of it was just that it felt right, but the other part was the whole sex thing. It's sad, but true. Keep up the great work. These episodes make me sad for the people that have been hurt, but ultimately happy in knowing that they're in a much better place emotionally and sometimes even physically! I'm danged poor at the moment, but intend to join the Patreon when I have some more money to spread around.

My hubby and I have been married 37 years. It's such a joy to see you both starting on this journey. Your relationship appears very genuine and healthy. Thanks for sharing that! Wishing you 37 years and more of adventures and challenges that grow you and bring you joy!! And the wedding ... way too extra for me, lol, but I was grinning the whole time enjoying you share your joy to be able to have done something so fun and for it to have been just what you wanted. Congrats!!

Holy shitballs! I feel like a special snowflake just watching a small part of your wedding and life together! A very maternal debbie-downer part of me is concerned that you might burn out going so hard, but if over the top and extra is your thing, I'm so happy for you! As a chronically depressed person, I need a long bath and a nap after this one! So much joy and happiness, my poor nervous system needs a break! Comgratulations!! ❤

I really enjoy you're podcast, and enjoyed seeing your husband on here as well. A number of my relatives are Mormans. I grew up about 2 miles from Joseph Smith memorial in Vt (birthplace). After my father died in 2004, his cousin asked my sister and I if she could put his name in something at church so she'd see him in heaven. We said sure (whatever makes you feel good). In 2010 she asked the same favor for our mother. My parents were NEVER interested in that religion, but we felt that if it eased the other person's mind, and we didn't have to sign anything or pay for anything, what the heck. 😊

I'm very late to the party, but WOW!!! What an EPIC wedding! I was in tears at least three times, and I'm not a crier... I very much respect the work you guys do. It's super easy to become judgmental about religions and groups that are different from what we believe (some deserve it), but you really keep an open mind. I love how empathic you are! Thanks for sharing your big day with us!

Wow 👌 the most amazing wedding EVER!! Its almost like watching a movie with a beautiful princess and handsome prince. I love the theme...every little second y'all showed the way you love each other, the time that was put into everything like the clothes, the movie, loved the dancing and the whole vibe of everyone being a part of the wedding by having their pictures taken. There was so much joy and love that could be seen in every person there. Absolutely a wedding i would love to have witnessed. So beautiful. I agree that you didn't need decorations because the venue was a decoration in itself. Im so impressed by the ideas that you put in your wedding. Everything planned down to the last second. You are both so talented and creative and you thought of everything. I loved the tickets and popcorn for the guests. Its so wonderful that y'all asked the guests to dress in a beautiful lost era of glam and they aced it. I enjoyed seeing your sweet doggie. I have a chiweenie same color as your dog. So cute in his matching suit. I am just blown away by just the parts you allowed us to see. Bravo! ❤

Your wedding was absolutely STUNNING! Every. Single. Part!! Thank you for sharing such an intimate and special day with us! As far as your channel, I have REALLY enjoyed watching it and have shared it with multiple people. I personally have an amazing relationship with Jesus, but have only developed that relationship in the last 9 years as an adult in a non denominational church and have continued to grow it because of growing up in the Catholic Church and having such a hard time in that religion. People should be free to make their own decisions and free to learn for themselves and take their own journey and should not be forced or manipulated in any way. I love what I get to learn from your channel and how I can show love to others who have been through cults and over restrictive religions.

I must first say…I absolutely love your channel. I started watching KZbin about 6 months ago. I’m not much of a tv watcher, but have been finding myself turning on my tv to exclusively watch interesting channels on this platform. I moved to Salt Lake City 5 years ago. My son located here 14 years ago. I was born and raised Lutheran, in North Dakota. I have always been curious about other cultures and especially other religions. Thank you for your amazing productions and interesting topics & guests. What I have learned from your channel, in the last few weeks, is most educational! And…..Congratulations on your stunning wedding! It was most enjoyable to be apart of your day, from afar. DeeAnn

I sang God Blessed the Broken Road while walking down the aisle! My soon-to-be mother-in-law was in on it during the rehearsal! She played the wedding march for the rehearsal but didn't move on the wedding day. It wasn't until that day that any of my family knew that I could sing.

I love plant medicine topics!! Y'all are so cool. I would some Native Indian stuff if your mum would talk sbout it. I LOVE that knowledge and I know that I am not the only one in the US that thinks the land was taken from all the groups of established Natives here. I am so fascinated with that culture, the music, the food, the dance, the clothing they wore, all of it.

Love and blessings to you both! I absolutely loved the conversation about your wedding! What an incredible experience and event! Loved the details that you shared together. You looked radiant. It made me review my own decision not have a wedding to my husband. I just couldn’t fake my feelings towards a ceremony that had been so ‘owned’ by the church. It was hard to be so stubborn with new families joining. (He’s the best, he always had my back and 2 kids later still crazy in love.)Your response to your wedding dress to making this phenomenal event makes me SO happy. You both are delightful. Thank you for the work you do that helps so many of us process the layers and for sharing the personal details of a beautiful day! 🎉❤❤🎉❤❤

Good morning - I have been binge watching your channel for a couple of days now. You are brave & honest. And own & embrace all of your luggage. Wow. While I engaged in your wedding story here, I could not help but be aware how similar our stories are. Not in the minute details, but the 'flavor' of the manifestations of what was most intimately important to us. We (both of us 2 couples) are satisfied with our memories for the rest of our lives. 2001. IE: Our reception was at an old VFW. It was vintage 1950's, in my opine. A good time was had by all, I assure you. A unique experience that cannot be easily forgotten, nor compared by any means. Good for all of us. And...new subscriber.

In Los Angeles and Wilshire Blvd there are soooo many amazing buildings. My parents worked and grew up in DTLA in the 40s and 50s. They have the best stories. My mom is 81. She has great memories. I used to temp serve at the Mayan for conferences and stuff. I wish I could start a theatre company with likeminds somewhere in DTLA with story telling and comedy. Based around deprogramming and the comedy/tragedy of it all.
