Years ago when I got into Bushcraft I made most of my gear. Some sleep gear, cooking gear, tools, fire kits and tent tarps and hammocks. A lot of it got stored away. I recently found a box of it in my shop attic and Im happy to show one of the homemade hanging cooksets here!

Same here. Every flame is different. Nothing is repeated. Even the sound and sight is entertaining. Watching a wood pile burn down from logs to little embers,seeing their weight shift and hearing the crackles, snaps and pops is so naturally enjoyable. I miss it.

It's great to see the two of you again and congrats on successful baking and coffee . The lid for the teapot is used for making a poached egg while making tea . Add a small amount of oil and water and drop an egg in . The branches in the shape of a shelter - Don't be surprised if there are Pagans living in that area who celebrate the time of Beltane and built an *eskritt which often has feathers , flowers and plants attached during a ceremony . All the best to you guys . *eskritt - Only one of a few spellings

One of the most admirable aspects of your wilderness philosophy is the fact that you realize that your survival does not depend on hunting or harvesting wildlife for your sustenance during your camping trips. You always take your food with you, and draw your pleasures from preparing it in the woods. 👏🏻 Don’t take me wrong, I have nothing against people hunting for their survival needs. I just think the unnecessary harvesting of wildlife, where other options are easily available, is a complete waste of a resource.
@Reallybigmonkey1
@Reallybigmonkey1 3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! Hunting and trapping is for survival or homesteading. For common camping it's best to bring food and just leave the wildlife alone.

Great video boys! Never thought I'd hear Dave the master of the hidden carry grill ever say " I wish I had a grill " Lol. Might I suggest you use a separate metal hanger to hold the kettle from your stainless S hook over your top oven fire. No need for 3rd fire and using an existing heat source. It would also absorb and deflect heat from your hang log, in answer to Nick's point of the flames climbing pretty high. Thanks again for the many smiles on the lead day of the Long Week End!

Sounds good to me Jonathan! That beats carrying the weight of a Dutch oven. Thanks for watching brother

I remember you using this cook set. Damn I have been watching you for a long time! hee hee hee 🤪😉 I bet someone built that structure so they could just come out and throw on a tarp or canvas & have themselves a teepee camp-out. Good videos boys! I can't wait for the next one.

Believe it or not, that was a different hanging cookset. Ive got about 6 or 7 hanging sets total. If I was 100% sure it wasnt a bigfoot structure I'd throw a tarp over it and use it myself. I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for watching Christina!

Quite the oven goin’ there. Banana nut is my favorite and can’t go wrong with Martha White. That heavy machete seems to be a mighty fine tool for our South Eastern woods. All and all a fine kitchen and campfire. Enjoyed seeing you again and wish I could be with you. Texas

Great extra motivation for my first camp of the season next week. We are finally getting some rain an cooler weather in Texas so I'm doing a week out in it. I'll probably be doing some "pan bread" instead of fancy baking but it will all get eaten... Thanks for all the work! Oh... and I'll be taking my Brother Dave SP53 you inspired me to buy... great machete.

Those older kits are often far better than much of the modern day gear. I loved that kettle especially. As always, watching your food and coffee videos always makes me hungry which is really hard as I'm usually watching them in bed! Not the best time to watch your excellent food vids. 😀. I never tire of watching you make fire and have learnt a great deal from your skills. Another totally enjoyable and informative video from you both. Many thanks as always appreciated. You can keep the spiders though... whatever kind that was running about. 😀😀😀🕷️
