Totally 100% agree with you Chuck.....I've had the good fortune to travel England, Germany, Austria, France, Switzerland, Japan, USA including Hawaii, Canada and the Bahamas. The worst thing you can do to ruin your trip is to pack your home country expectations along with your camera and clothes.....Initially that was me until a friend on my second trip said just relax and enjoy the food, the culture, and the people, give everything a chance and you will be amazed at how wonderful a true vacation really is. I gave in to this mind set and it's the best decision I ever made. I'm more relaxed and I smile allot more even if I don't speak the language I know my smile crosses all boarders. I saw a guy fishing in Japan and through hand gestures and an interest in his tackle he was showing how he tied his knots and different lures he used all the while never speaking the language. We both laughed allot. So remember this I saw allot of temples and fish markets, city life and country life. What memory sticks out is my connection with a local fisherman over something we both enjoyed, fishing.

Canuk Travels that’s a great story, I have similar experiences, being shown hospitality by those who have nothing, being willing and open to embrace their world goes a long way to bridging cultural divides.

A great job today Chuck It's also a fantastic point/ comment you made . "Opinions Change" Opinions are descriptions of what we think and how we feel at any given time, based on the knowledge we have.. ofcourse over the years we see things differently and so our opinions change... but it takes a few years to realize this.. Enjoy your at the stage you're at .. don't ever be overly stubborn about one's own opinion !! Thx man 👍😎

I think we're I come from in the west it is important to stand by something. To have an opinion based on things that matter or that are important to you in your life. Now my life is unpredictable and have no one to impress or position to fill so I can be flexible and my thoughts and my opinions about what's around me and try to look at things at both sides for what it is. For me it makes life very simple to be open minded Anon opinionated

MY QUESTION IS: If you see something about the house (it's her parent's house, yes?) that you can improve are you allowed to change something? I mean do they see your improvement as something good or do they want the house left just as it is? I mean is your idea an invasion or a declaration that their home is "not good enough"? And I hear the term "man oi" being used in the kitchen. In Vietnam ('66-'67) it was meant as "darling". What does it mean in Thai?

Being a Bangladeshi, I always felt at home in Thailand. Thai people make me feel one of their own whereas my fellow Bangladeshis treat me very badly and think I am an outsider. I am deciding to settle in Thailand (I am 30, single, gay, Virgin and unemployed). My country Bangladesh has given me nothing but deep sadness. Due to this, I am suffering from depression. But whenever I come to Thailand, I am a different person as this great country heals and cures my depression. Thailand you are amazing, I will return the favor to you by learning to speak Thai (the least I can do).

@Rifat Thailand doesn't judge people by their sexuality, they don't presume people to be less important than each other. They do not expect anyone to do anything really but they always show appreciation for kindness. There are many partners willing to meet open minded and kind individuals, so being a virgin makes you special because they value your personal decision to wait for the right person. Employment is very restricted in Thailand and you need to be careful not to trigger a problem with immigration, that being said.. They do allow online `digital nomads' to work online in Thailand without needing work permits. If you decide to live in Thailand more permanently, you will need to prove you have enough income to sustain yourself without being a burden to their country. Please consider this before diving into the big move over, or your depression might be eleviated. Thai people live day-to-day and really don't care about things (politics etc) and welcome any kind hearted person... good luck!

I always enjoy your videos and your positive attitude to most everything. I came here full time three years ago with knowing I have always been someone that could adapt to almost any situation. I still struggle with the language and for the most part, it is due to my hearing, I just can't seem to pick up some of the subtle sound variations. When I try to use a new word, a simple word like tomorrow, the girls at Amazon Cafe' just giggle and try to correct me. I come from Florida and have a construction background and I am very critical when it comes to building...with that said after three years I have finally stopped trying to critique the workers and do it myself. I do enjoy myself here and don't plan on going back to the US unless absolutely necessary.

Chuck, right on as usual. I spent my first 4 years (2002-2005) coming to Thailand as a tourist twice a year for about 30 days each. In 2006 I purchased a small condo in Bangkok and starting coming to Thailand and staying for 7-8 months a year usually on three different trips for the USA on a retirement visa (0-A). Then in 2009, I purchased on the 10th floor a beachfront condominium in Jomtien/Pattaya, Thailand. Each segment, tourist, half time retirement, and full-time retirement was a completely different experience and I had to adjust my thinking and my expectations. I still love Thailand and love living here, and it takes flexibility in thought, word and deed; patience, lots of kindness, and as the saying goes: if it does not meet your expectations then change your expectations. Chuck, I love your videos and keep going I know it is a lot of work.

What!! You never had a Snickers bar before!! Almost un-American! My girlfriend the Phayao showed me a recent temp reading of 12 degrees Celsius there so yes it does get cold in northern Thailand. Always enjoy your vids Chuck.

Damn you remind me of the show the dude “California Gold” Huel Houser I think his name. Your like Thailand Gold Show man.. I used to love watching California Gild Show.. Show made me feel comfy and good vibes.. You intelligent in how you adapt to all that. You don’t make them feel awkward and show much respect in a real way..cause they can probably pick up fake.. Good show man you should be on a public tv show like kqed. But you kept it real and did it your way, awesome.
