I know this is a 2 year old video, but i recently rearranged my hobby room/man cave and I have to admit, creating space and organising makes our hobby far more enjoyable and productive! Nice video man

Absolutely! Being able to leave your hobby station makes it much more likely to get some painting done here and there!

20 years ago I had a big station where I use to craft my buildings in balsa and painting my minis. Now I have a big room full of stuff that I don't have time to organize... You gave me the push to start reorganizing that room, from the 3D printing area to the pictures table and everything in the middle! :D

Redid my space two weeks ago. It was a blessing and a curse. On one hand I am finally organized, and have way more space, on the other hand, condensing and organizing, I found my pile of shame us much larger than I thought. Too many sprues tucked into weird places and then "out of sight, out of mind".
@gaminggeek2413 жыл бұрын
Use my system--I have two piles of shame: one for unpainted minis and another for minis that need to be built. Your sprues are in a different category!

Harbor Freight sells a long magnet that would fit perfectly on the edge of the shelf right above your nippers. It’s about 18” long and 1” wide. I use one to hold nippers, files, a tool to unclog paint bottles, my citadel mould line remover, etc. Nice job on reorganization!

Yes... but you still need the time to paint the miniatures.

As appears to be common with a lot of model makers, you have a vast range of paint shades. Don't folks keep a basic range and mix the shades they want from those anymore - ?
@gaminggeek241 Жыл бұрын
Yes, you can absolutely do that. I used to make shades using acrylic floor polish. Buying the shades and speedpaints are more for convenience than anything else. Technically, you only need five colors to mix all the colors you need but it's paying more for the convenience of not having to mix/make yourself.
@simongee8928 Жыл бұрын
@@gaminggeek241 Indeed. Convenience is a point, but @ £3 - 4 or more per paint 'pot', that's an expensive option - ! 😆

New subscriber, absolutely love your videos 😄. New to the craft. Would you consider making a video on what paints, air brushes, equipment etc a beginner should get for Gloomhaven. Cheers, Rad
@gaminggeek2413 жыл бұрын
Thanks for becoming a subscriber, Bennie! Have you seen some of my other videos? This is a good one from Jaws of the Lion: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mGHCoZpubbqjmJo Also, any of my terrain painting tutorials works for Gloomhaven since I use the same color scheme for stones and wood. Here's a good one: kzbin.info/www/bejne/sJPdgZ6berKljJI You do NOT need an airbrush for terrain! Just some rattle cans for priming and craft paints for the rest. Also, I'm assuming you have access to a 3D printer.

Nice, can't wait to set up my paint station in my new craft room, what file is that citadel paint holder? Also look for horizontal paint brush holders to prevent water or paint getting into the ferral.

Those are! I like them a lot--way better than the tinny sound from the monitor and they can get pretty loud too. Not the smallest speakers in the world but the trade-off for deeper sounds makes it worth it. Here's my affiliate link if you are interested: amzn.to/34QhIyv

I’ll be buying some paints relatively soon and therefore wished to inquire whether you have any strongly recommended ones. The first two games to arrive and therefore the first two to be painted will be altar quest and etherfields respectively.
@gaminggeek2413 жыл бұрын
I think the best bang for your buck is Army Painter because you can buy sets for cheaper than most of the other paint sets (Citadel, Vallejo, Reaper, etc.). Also, Army Painter is relatively watery so it won't clog and you don't need to add as much water.
@MasonPeatross3 жыл бұрын
You can't go wrong picking up a starter set from someone. Army Painter is the most affordable, Reaper has a better paint line, probably want to avoid Citadel for price reasons. If price doesn't matter to you, picking up the Pro Acryl paint set would likely make you very happy.
@Littlebean-t2t3 жыл бұрын
I’ll take a look at base sets from army painter. Will be primarily painting fantasy based miniatures , so I’m guessing a set with lighter colors will be the most appealing. At least altar quest will be a good test subject before I dare paint those etherfields mini’s with a more serious color palette.
@gaminggeek2413 жыл бұрын
@@Littlebean-t2t Yeah, those Etherfields models are fairly complex. I'm looking forward to receiving my copy too!

@@gaminggeek241 I have decided to go with Vallejo paints after just falling in love with them from these time-lapse videos. Whether i buy them as part of a beginners bundle or buy 6-10 solo paints , we'll see. But that medium-olive paint is definitely coming home with me either way :D Possibly same with the base pigments. He seems to do a lot of painting with the airbrush as well , so maybe give him a watch. Albeit the one i linked was purely painted using the brush. kzbin.info/www/bejne/j2e7f2psrJWMkNU&ab_channel=AngelGiraldeZ
