FYI- There were people outside my window prepping for a wedding the entire time I was filming, thats why you here a truck constantly running and people shouting intermittently. Sorry about that!
Since I've been out of the hospital I've been following a strict pancreatic diet along with my usual celiac diet. After answering what feels like thousands of questions every time I have to eat around someone, I decided to sit down and make a video discussing my diet in depth.
Thanks for Watching, hope you enjoyed and learned something!

Dandelion, Hibiscus, Lemon, Green and Chamomile tea are great for pancreatitis without sugar of course - if you're addicted to caffeine and coffee. It's all about adjustment. Fish and Chicken are tasty and body building foods if you have pancreatitis. Try to eat fish and chicken daily. The worst food is alcohol if you're addicted to it. Once you ditch it, your pancreatitis will automatically begin to heal.

I recently was released from hospital after a 10 day bout with acute pancreatitis. I know I have to follow a strict low fat diet, but you have inspired me. I do not have celiac disease. I will focus on the foods I can eat rather than the ones I can’t. Thank you for your insight and ideas.

Ariel I just was hospitalized for the second time in a year with this. I drank too much alcohol and now am on my track on being sober, a week in. Thank you for this video. Hi Ariel! I was diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis when I was 13 caused by a birth defect. It’s horrible, but it’s cool to see other young people going through the same thing as me. Most people that suffer with pancreatitis are older. I’m nineteen now, and I had never heard of the coffee thing! That’s crazy. I love my coffee, I drink it most days and I can’t say it has made me worse. I feel so bad for you girl!

the weird thing about Pancreatitis is that everyone who has it can get affected by different foods. It must be horrendous being Celiac also. I can eat almost everything i like providing i take enough CREON.. I have cut down on my sugar intake . I eat differently if i am out and about compared to when im at home. (i don't want to get court out trying to find a restroom haha) i have done a couple of videos about my pancreatitis experience although probably very different to your experience. Mine too was nothing to do with alcohol or Gall stones.. Keep smiling

Thank you for this wonderful video. I’m still trying to find out what I can and cannot eat boy that’s a chore since it changes every week especially if I stay away from fatty foods. Next month I’m going to having an ercp so hopefully that’ll answer all my questions about my pancreas health. I first was diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis in 2007 and had my gallbladder removed then too. No one can answer my all time favorite question and that is why me. Later part of last month I even had a colonoscopy done and I didn’t get any questions answered to my questions so hopefully next month when I have the ercp done that’ll help me out by answering my questions. So please keep up with your videos. Thank you for your time and cooperation

I feel the pain because even I was a teatoteller like you but still people after listening to pancreatitis associate it with alcoholism, anyways gooseberry helps a lot and also try white tea it has less caffeine and high nutrients. I had acute pancreatitis at the age of 19 . It was found that it was because of hereditary. I had very severe pain in my back and stomach. My lungs were not working properly and my kidneys were also failed. By god's mercy I recovered in 20 days being in ICU . At this time I was not knowing this can happen to me again. But when I was 20 year's old . That is 1 year after I had 2nd attack of pancreatitis. Same pain. Just like someone squeezing your pancreas . I was hospitalized for 15 days this time. recovered. From my side there wasn't any mistake . Still it happened. May be my past life Karma were too bad. Please tell me how can this will not happen to me again. Any suggestions and warnings. I am on almost zero fat diet with 6 small meals a day. Please tell some more suggestions. Worst thing: My brother also has same problem he is younger than me . He had pancreatic attack when he was 17. At his time it took 2 days for diagnosis. But because of him I understood at my time within seconds that next few days I am going to hell. Pain level 💯. Thank you for the video. I guess I should start trying more things. All I eat is air fried chicken with broccoli for just about 4 months straight. Just chicken, salmon, broccoli and apples. Lol I’m so tired of it. Had Ulcerative Colitis at 11yo. Large intestine removed at 14. I’m now 40 and got diagnosed with EPI about a year ago. The Creon only worked for like 2 weeks. Hardest part is trying to keep weight on. I weighed more middle school than I do at 40. I thought UC was hard but this has been so challenging for me lately. Guess I just needed to tell someone who understands, again thx for the video

The air fryer is my best friend, it was hard at first but now I just know what I can and can't have and pair them together differently because I hate eating leftovers 😅 I hate that you're going through this but I hope it gets easier to manage. My secret trick is an ice pack strapped to my stomach, I got my ice pack and strap together on Amazon for super cheap and it comes with a bunch! This is the first time I've seen you. Great vid. Thanks for sharing. I just got out of the hospital with pancreatitis. The surgeon came in my room every day, twice a day to convince me to let them take out my gall platter. After listening to her lies for 4 days, I finally gave them permission. She told me that the gall platter didn't do much and people get them taken out every day. DON'T BELIEVE ANYONE WHO TRIES TO TELL YOU THAT! Your gall platter plays a very important part in your digestion. Anyway, I am really struggling. Seems I had pancreatitis, now no gall platter, along with sugar diabetes- all discovered during my hospital stay for pancreatitis. Everything makes me sick, even water. My abdomen is on fire all day and all night. My abdomen feels like I haven't eaten in weeks, but also feels like it would after gorging yourself at a Thanksgiving dinner. Honestly, I just want to die. I can take pain. I can take broken bones. I can handle something being wrong with me, but I can't handle feeling sick in my intestines 24/7. What I can eat for my pancreatitis, I cannot eat because of the diabetes. Loved your video. Thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge and bits of informatin.

Sky Miller Of course! You're probably going to have to stay on a liquid diet for a good minute before your pancreas can handle any food. Are you on any pancreatin or pancreatic enzymes? That's what was a major game changer for me, I couldn't even stomach water before I was on them. I had no idea they would try to take a gallbladder out, that sounds crazy. I'm so sorry you're feeling so bad. My heart goes out to you ❤

Chronically Ariel - Was on a liquid diet in the hospital for 3 days. They wanted to work me up to a regular diet before discharging me. I knew I left the hospital too soon, but was under pressure to return home. I never heard of those things you mentioned, nor has anyone suggested taking them. My abdomen is worse than ever now. I believe there is too much bile being secreted by my pancreas, because it feels like my guts are on fire. I discovered that I can no longer stomach chicken noodle soup, which had been my safe "go to" belly filler. I'm ready to go; this constant sickness in my abdomen is too much for me to handle. I get a total of 2 hours of sleep each day- 10 minutes here, 15 minutes there during the day. I have no health insurance, so going back in the hospital is almost impossible. Money rules.
@ChronicallyAriel
@ChronicallyAriel 6 жыл бұрын
Sky Miller Pancreatic enzymes help digest your food when your own pancreas isn't producing them naturally. You probably did go home too early. I did that a few times until I got tired of always ending up back there. Then I stayed for a little over a week and some nice doctor finally figured out what was wrong with me. Have you tried mashed potatoes? That was my go to safe food.

I’m a 45 female and I’ve been dealing with stomach pain off and on all my life, literally even as a child. So you’re not alone! I was diagnosed in 2018 with EPI due to my pancreas duct being almost closed and the duct inside the pancreas had a loop in it not straight like a normal duct...so the doc performed an ERCP (placed stent inside my pancreas duct for 6 weeks) which fixed that problem. Everything was good for a year then pain set in again and I lost 15 lbs because food was my enemy and I was scared most of the time to eat. So then I had a MRCP which then I was diagnosed with Superior Mesenteric Artery Syndrome (extremely rare disease)...shortly after I was diagnosed with SMAS that doctor passed away from heart attack and now my new doctor tells me I don’t have SMAS and I never needed the ERCP surgery. 🤬 So he tells me I have Chronic Pancreatitis which causes EPI so now I just started Creon (PERT). Not sure if it’s actually helping because I still have some discomfort everyday. So yes this whole thing SUCKS AND it is an emotional roller coaster ride...my life has changed dramatically. I am trying to figure out what foods I can’t eat and not eat. HA! Easier said then done because I can have a meal one day with no issues and the next day I’ll have the same exact meal that causes pain. GRRRR!!! SO SO FRUSTRATING!!! BUT I do believe once we figure out what diet works, things will get better!! Do a lot of research and call around for guidance The National Pancreas Foundation is a good place to start! Don’t lose hope, you can do this! Stay strong! 🙏🏼💪🏽

I was just released from the hospital where I spent six months, three in CCU and ICU, and three in the trauma ward with acute necrotic pancreatitis. As soon as I was cleared in the trauma ward, the head nutritionist would see me every day, and while i was told to stick to a low fat diet, many of the things you're not 'allowed' to eat, I was. Is this a diet you've figured out for yourself (it works for you), or one the hospital gave you? Thank you for the information. Also is this just your pancreatitis diet or both your pancreatitis and celiac diet as you mention gluten a few times? Best of luck with everything!

Beautifully done, thank you ❤❤. I also live with several conditions that require me to have a very limited and extremely specific diet, and I too have constant questions that drive me absolutely insane. Thank you for sharing with the world that it's not as awful as they think - I myself have developed a serious appreciation for the few things I can have and I love them all. I also have developed a HUGE appreciation for smelling wonderful foods that I can't have - I don't even want them (they'd make me severely ill), I just want to smell them, and I LOVE doing that so much. My family now automatically hands me their food before they eat it and I take in the most amazing few deep inhales through the nose, savor the moment, then hand it right back and eat what I have instead. I love it and do it all the time. Thank you again for sharing ❤❤

Sorry I just saw this comment. The average time for a strict liquid diet is 2 weeks according to my doctor. I did that and then stuck to soft foods for 2 months, but my pancreas was wrecked so yours may be different. Just test things in very small quantities before adding them into your daily diet. At first I stuck to 20-25g of fat a day, I actually stayed at that level for a little over a year, (again, my pancreas was wrecked), but now I'm up to 35-40g a day. Still not very high but most other people can go up to 75g a day once they heal their pancreas with a recovery diet. Hope this helps ❤

Thanks for your favorite foods and telling us u r frustrated because I can feel my friend is. I've had to eat ur diet since 19, im 32, so ya. U get use to it. Thing is, if u cheat u will feel it. Can u drink Kombucha?! Also, I found digestive vitamins for enzymes, have you tried those yet? And how do you feel on them if so.

My stomach can't handle kombucha, but I am on prescribed digestive enzymes. I take 36,000mg pills, one with snacks and two with meals. They're the only reason I can eat anything at all. I don't know how you're friend is feeling but ensure is good for when she can't handle solids and the one thing that helped the pain and nausea (other than meds) was putting ice packs directly on top of where my pancreas is.

It depends on if my stomach will let me eat. Lately it hasn't been so I eat one meal and drink two Ensures. The general recommendation is 3-4 smaller meals through the day and making sure they don't have more than the amount of fat you can handle, mine is 25g a day but I'm an extreme case.

Everyone needs some fat for their body to function and be healthy. I would just try to lower the amount of fat. So for chilli swap the meat out for ground turkey or a vegetarian meat substitute, nuts are tricky and i haven't quite figured out all of them but I can handle a small handful of peanuts at a time. I can give you more good substitutions for things if you need.

@@Sandee234 I personally drink ensures every day to keep my weight up. The amount of fat you can handle is different for everyone. But generally if you're trying to heal your pancreas its 20-25g a day. If you are doing well you can have more, I'm currently at 35g a day because my pancreas is so scarred, but some people can have up to 75g a day. It's a trial and error thing, start low and work your way up, when it starts to effect you go back down a little and stay there. Some of my recent favorites are Applegate Naturals chicken nuggets, Udis blueberry muffins (from the freezer section, they're amazing), Van's blueberry waffles, if I haven't eaten much that day the Gluten free four cheese digiorno pizza (the whole thing is exactly 24g of fat), I have an amazing lowfat brownie recipe I can send you if he likes brownies, lucky charms and fruity pebbles are always a good quick meal, the Idaho brand mashed and Augratin potatoes are great, great value makes a gluten free stroganoff that I eat (just cut the cheese packet in half), then I like to use the extra cheese for cheese fries. I recently got an air fryer that has been a game changer so I'd suggest getting one of those if you don't already have one. Certain luna bars are great for travel and only 5g. And if he's craving chocolate the new reese's thins are perfect, he can have two without any issues. If I think of anything else I'll add it later.
