No exercise, dependent on others for diet, etc. I recovered after about 5 years but recovery is slow at 70 years old. And I was an athlete - lane swimming, dance, aqua aerobics. Very interesting info, but difficult to even walk long distances yet. Timed swim is appalling - all muscle tone gone!

Congrats on getting your journey started. I've done a ten day fast, a seven day fast, and a handful of three day fasts, and here are a couple of tips from my experience. 1. Don't expect your friends or family to understand what fasting is, or how it works, just know, it works 2. If you workout at all on your fast, you'll feel great, but right around day five or six you'll start to go into acidosis. What helped me was drinking alkaline water, and using Picot antacid packets, or Alka seltzer tablets, and adding lemon juice or true lemon packets. Basically anything to help your body alkalize (that has no calories) 3. Make sure you're drinking salt with your water. I used pink Himalayan salt. You may also want to add electrolytes. I think, this honestly might be the single most important thing. Right now I'm on day 4 of another long fast and so far I feel great. This time around I found an electrolyte mix at whole foods called Ultima Replenisher that has no calories, and that's all I've been adding to my water, and I'm doing well so far. My goal is 40 days, but we'll see how it goes. Hope this helps! Much love

Just finished 8 day water fast. I have had thyroid issues for years. I have read that people with under active thyroid shouldn’t do fasting, however, Despite the fast being difficult for me, the results are amazing thus far. Prior to fasting I woke up with headaches every morning. Headaches gone! I physically feel younger and so relieved to be free of my sugar addiction. Feel like a new woman. Haven’t had my thyroid levels tested, but the fact that I feel 20 years younger is a good sign. Thank you doctor. 🙏
@arvindgarg2961 Жыл бұрын
how did you do it. just on water. I am thinking but , how to handle hunger.
@katiequ2058 Жыл бұрын
@@arvindgarg2961 initially I attempted a gradual transition, however, that wasn’t working. I think it was the headaches every morning and the bursitis down the front of my leg and a couple of my fingers looked arthritic. I was basically scared straight because there was no denying this was inflammation caused by my diet and my body was giving me a serious warning. I have been researching fasting and following Dr Mindy and Dr J so I knew fasting would free me of my bad habits. So, basically once I was mentally on board it was easy because each day I woke feeling better. The hunger and cravings would come and go. I drank water and had clean electrolytes when I felt light headed. Drank lots of herbal teas. I could tell my ketones were amping up when I got the bad taste in my mouth. I didn’t weigh myself because I knew the initial fat to go would be around organs. I could feel an overall shrinking in my body rather than a loss of outer fat or face fat that happened when I’ve dieted. My advice would be to listen to your body and be careful who you tell you are fasting because some will undermine you with their “good”intentions. I was able to do the 8 days while cooking daily for my elderly mother who has so much junk food in house and while cooking for my grandson on the weekend. It was helpful in the morning to listen to a lecture by Dr M or Dr J or another podcast/ KZbin about benefits of fasting and the science of it. This kept me focused and excited to keep going. Another thing I found helpful was grounding and meditation and getting in alignment with who I really am, the spirit soul and although this body is temporary, in letting go of the resistance of addiction to these processed “foods” and treating the body with respect , I feel awake. Can literally feel my front of my brain waking up. I did have a pasta dinner yesterday and I suffered. I felt sick and tired.Probably won’t be doing that again. When I eat something off my plan, no big deal because I will get back on track. I feel too good taking care of myself to go back. I started fasting again today and will do as many days as I feel comfortable. I still have aching in my knee at times and have approximately 70 pounds to lose. Then, once I have my weight down I will get my thyroid checked and do one meal per day for the most part. I am 58 and I feel this was a big crossroads for me whether I was going up or going downhill. I am excited about making the right choice and now looking forward to riding bikes with my grandson and being able to hike on a regular basis. I suggest do a fast sooner than later. Sending good vibes your way!!!

Dr J- I began watching you regarding vit D3andK2. I love your energy and information. I’m a nurse of 42 years and see the harm of our “ healthcare system”. I’m 68 years old and had a quadruple bypass 2 years ago. I finally started watching you, Dr Berg and Dr Ekberg regarding intermittent fasting. I cut sugar and processed foods first then added. OMAD and 24-48 fasts. I’ve lost 38 lbs in 3 and 1/2 months and I feel great. Still more to go but I’m on a great path. It was not easy, but totally do able. It gets easier and the payoff is so worth it! Thank you. SO MUCH FOR SHARING YOUR ENERGY AND KNOWLEDGE!!❤️❤️😮

I’ve lost 58 lbs in 63 days. I’ve done every diet in the world. My theory is, when you’re losing weight fasting or not, as the fat is being burned that is stored, your brain recognizes that food and reminds you of when you ate it and how good it is, sugar and bad carbs control your thinking like a virus in a mouse that isn’t scared of cats.

@no_country_for_real_men Жыл бұрын
@@valk8466 it's not the same as hibernation but it means that your body is producing all the hormones and neurotransmitters and at the precise time and correct amount. It means your body is in synchronicity and maybe it helps if you are not exposed to random loud background noise by inconsiderate neighbors because that is the number one factor for interruption of sleep of younger to middle aged people but for older people their sleep interruptions are predominantly due to having to go to the bathroom followed by sleep apnea.
