I'm actually picking up my first base set booster box tomorrow but I'm curious if you had a $25,000 right now to buy Pokemon, what would you purchase from an investment perspective?

Thanks for watching. That's a big move man! I suppose you need to ask yourself what your expected gain will be and in what time frame you want to sell? And how you plan on selling. People are a bit picky with who they buy base set boxes off just because of the number of fakes.

Hopefully CZ is only a small reprint, and good take on the Hidden Fates comparison, definitely a top ETB with a solid promo. Hopefully, people took advantage of the Afterpay deals on eBay the other day. I snagged a Fusion Strike box for $165, and I’m very chuffed with myself!

That's cheap as! Yeah there were a heap of after pay deals hey! I'm a bit worried about the CZ reprint. Silver Tempest and lost origin won't affect things much.

Totally agree with the Japanese Pokemon 151 Master Ball Holos being a good investment. Going for a master set of those as I don't imagine they'll be too many of those around compared to a normal master set of any other set being released. Getting 1 per booster box just makes them sooo rare!.

Pretty sure this set will, like they said, be printed to demand. Everyone i know that collects says the same exact thing which means that this will prolly be a dud.

@@pokeoz91 Exactly. My definition of printing to demand is the man on the street being able to get hold of however much product they want at MSRP. That is definitely not the case. The maximum you can get is one booster box if you take part in their lottery system. Otherwise you will have to pay market price from a distributer...

Solid list! As for the waifu cards, I've been picking up copies of the Astral Radiance Starmie V here and there. It's up to around $40usd or so already, but I can see it increasing a good bit long term. OG waifu along with some colorful artwork. I'm also starting to regret not picking up any Japanese 151 yet.

Waifu cards will be soo worthless imo lol they are in every set and they all look the same. The one you mentioned has 1.8k psa 10s graded allready and over 1k psa 9s. For 40 bucks that's crazy to me lol

If your from WA or VIC then you could pick up CZ ETB for about $62-ish from Games World; sold out online, in store only. My local one still had loads on display. I got one, plus both shiny Zacian & Zamazentta boxes, for about $210.

The masterball holo thing is cool and I have no idea why pokemon makes a lot of stuff like that exclusive to Japan. They will massively boost sales of the cards for pokemon and give ppl more excitement over opening packs. I do think the fact we get more packs per box means the 1 per box would make them even rarer over here but the Japanese rare cards rarely translate to english rares.

What are your thoughts on the Pokémon center exclusive ETB’s? Particularly with the stamped promo’s for scarlet and violet

It's a nice point of difference with those promos. ETBs are becoming heavily printed and won't be as exclusive as they were during B&W or XY or even sun and moon so a pokemon center etb adds that exclusivity back to the product 👌

I found 4 ES ETBs at WalMart for $39.99 last week. I felt like I was doing something wrong stealing those for that price.

Since I started collecting Japanese it's been difficult to maintain so I don't open much of anything anymore especially if I ordered it. I usually pick up a blister or some booster after a few weeks. Ripping packs is therapeutic 😂

Hi, was wondering where in Australia are good places to pick up cards? Only recently getting back into cards, last time I collected was back in 2013 or so as a kid, and don't know what good prices are to look out for or where to look around. Are big names like Target etc the go-to, or should I keep an eye on local card shops or specific online stores instead? Thanks for the great video :)

Hey PokeOz, just started with investing in sealed products, trying to by 3 bb's per set. Have now bought AR, FS, LO, ST. And will buy overtime also 3 for the S&V sets. Thanks for all your advice, really appreciated. Hope i'm not too late to the party, but only time will tell :). Whats your opinion on the 151 english set, should i make extra budget for it? Not so familiar with the specials and this set is amazing but i can also see a lot of reprints etc. I'm in Europe btw. Thanks man!

That's a good strategy. Booster boxes are solid pick-ups and probably the most searched for sealed items when it's time to sell. 151 is amazing, the best set in a long time! Personally, I'm focusing more on Japanese 151 than English because of the master ball factor 👌

Unfortunately, i lost the train with evolving skies, but i think lost origin, chilling reign and fusion strike still worth if you xan find them for around 200€. Also, i agree with the Charizard promo. Good finds, brother.

For me personally i already picked up all the important PSA 10 master ball holos. I haven't picked up any booster boxes yet, waiting for prices to drop. I'm surprised that you said prices have been going up, from what i've seen it's been going down. I anticipate the Japanese booster boxes will be at the lowest during the english release and then rise again after a bit. I could definitely see that happening sooner than later from people realizing master ball holos are Japan exclusive. This would lead to more demand for Japanese booster boxes again.

Are all boxes, packs, cards the SAME as US? I thought there are UK and French and other versions. So Australian is same as US version? I'm curious. In Korea, we have our own sets. But there are over 7 Asian versions (packs, boxes, special sets, etc). Thanks for your advices.

Interesting list there mate, those sets definitely have potential… lately I’ve been mainly focusing on getting some Japanese 151 and VStar Universe booster boxes, and I’ll continue to buy more if I see them reasonably priced, but I might also start looking at getting some of these other sets while they’re still affordable like Astral Radiance and Paldea Evolved boosters. I think even despite Charizard UPCs being printed en masse that so many will be opened over the years they eventually become rarer. Like if someone doesn’t want to open expensive Evolving Skies and Lost Origin boxes they can open some packs from the UPCs. Plus it’s nice variety: opening several good sets is always more fun than opening a lot of just 1 good set.

I agree that Paldea Evolved is underrated. I feel like when people look back at it they 're gonna see something like Magikarp and Tyranitar and consider trying to pull them.

The sword and shield sets that are still available in Europe are Astral Radiance, Silver Tempest, Lost Origin and Crown Zenith. You could probably find some Fusion Strike and Chilling Reign ETBs as well but they are in rather limited supply.. The premium 151 collection box will be one to hold on to I believe..

It'll definitely make it more exclusive, which is the whole plan behind it. I feel the regular etb will be hurt a bit again. It doesn't need another reprint....

Why waste the time and energy with all those investments? If you want the best play right now its hands down Korean eevee heroes at $35 a box. The korean pokemon center ran out of stock 2 weeks ago and the price is creeping up, they will hit $100 a box in almost no time and then will steadily rise to $200.

I’ve put a lot of my research more into the vstar universe and japanese 151 sets recently and I just think the chase cards are just too powerful and beautiful that in a few years they could definitely be a pretty penny. Gosh, I’ve ripped into a few booster boxes of each and those arts are just beautiful. Definitely hunting for those 151 masterballs opening packs still but will need to keep an eye on the singles market, I would love that gengar!

Great video! The big CZ reprint didn't take the market down as far as we thought it would. So glad they did it for the black Friday special because I was lucky enough to load up on the Pikachu boxes. Can't imagine they would reprint it again, with all the 151 and Paldean Fates hype, but who knows? Yesterday, on ebay, I bought 36 sealed Paldea Evolved blister packs for $95 USD tax and shipping included. (the packs with the bonus holo and coin). Too cheap to pass up in my mind. CZ sure ain't that cheap! We don't see the big discounted prices on CZ like we do on the S & V sets.

If we speak of long term investments, so everything today available is a good investment, in 10 years from now, it will have value. OR maybe not, maybe pokemon will die, cuz scarlet looks liek shiet and overall demand is extremely low these days. Because nothing live/ lasts forever.
