Love this, Jessica. For quite a few years I have pretty much gone to acknowledging (rather than a big celebration) the solstices and equinoxes. It makes no difference where my ancestors were from, nor do i worry about appropriating ideas. The sun, the moon, the stars have been around much longer than any humans. And, yes, get outside and see what is happening where we live. We ARE nature! You are right.

It's a bit later from when you originally posted this video, but I just want to say thank you for sharing your personal spaces with us, in way too long comment format. I just loved all of your shrines, altars and working spaces. Your practice is much like mine in the way as, you have made it completely personal to yourself. I think baby witches are rigid these days, trying to become the perfect "type" of witch they see. They should be need to not practice as much from just learning what internet clutter has to say. though many are just practicing for the trend of witchcraft, I hope do not conjure up any damage in doing so. However, you are very inspirational. With that, I hope you guide baby witches of today in the direction to personalize their crafts as well. And btw... yes you look way too young to have been practicing for over thirty years. I as well have been practicing for over thirty years and look very young to have been doing so. Thank Goddess! )O(

Thanks for sharing.... it's so much fun to see other people's altars and how they work with them. Curiously, my current working altar is almost entirely dried plants and flowers (dried and living)! with a few candles and crystals, and I have been guided to *never* share pix of it with the general public! I notice you have very little dried or live plants. I'm curious what element your sun sign is in.
@JessicaandtheMoon2 жыл бұрын
I’m glad you enjoyed it ❤️ I very rarely share photos or videos of my working altar and don’t actually keep anything much on it apart from what I’m actually using. The shrines are a different story as you saw in this video 😆❤️ yes, it’s interesting about the plants. I do put plants on them as offerings sometimes but live plants wouldn’t survive the way I have them set up. My chart is pretty balanced between the elements, but my sun sign is Gemini.

Beautiful altars, your dedication to your craft is obvious! As a fledgling witch, I learned first and foremost to be careful with mirrors, as they are portals of various strengths. Your use of mirrors makes me curious though; when you cleanse a mirror, is it semi-permanent? Is there a set or suggested amount of time before you cleanse the mirror again, or should it be fine after the first or second time around? I don't have many mirrors in my home, but they are something I want to be mindful of.
@JessicaandtheMoon7 ай бұрын
Thank you 🙏🏻 That’s a good question about mirrors. I use mirrors a lot in my practice (as you noticed). You’re right, they are portals and are powerful. But then so are lakes, or puddles, or eyes. I don’t worry too much about anything being able to look in or get in through my portals. They are locked by protections. As far as cleansing, I do that when I first start using it and then maybe never again 😬😂 I do clean them if they get dusty. That’s just practical witchcraft 😉

Hello Jessica . I haven’t been on following for a while due to moving home with my mum and my health and the joys of been peri menopausal. I wondered if you managed to make another video about your Mary devotion since seeing this video a year ago I now get great comfort from Mary and you mention her starry cloak , which I love . I hope your well lovely lady ❤xxx

That is a lovely tour, I wondered what the name of the moon phase cards are - and if you know if they are available? I have just watched to the end, and loved your shrine/altar to Mary. I have recently bought the Black Madonna and White Madonna Tarot cards from Hettiene and am just starting my journey. I just felt a strong connection with her. Perhaps if it is not too personal, you could show how you work with your Mary cards. Regardless, your heart is beautiful.

Hello, I’m glad you enjoyed the video ❤️ I love the cards from Hettiene. I hope you enjoy using them. I had those moon phase cards from a subscription box years ago, and the artist isn’t making them anymore. There are lots of similar options available though if you look on Etsy ❤️

I am writing as I am watching, I noticed you have windows film privacy (very pretty btw) and I want to do this too, but I read it blocks the UV light. Since I have a lot of plants depending on that light... I didn't do it. So I am surprised that you have a plant growing? does she gets light none filtred higher or did you just recently put the film privacy on your window. I would really like to know! :)

The film has been on about a year or so. I have a few plants in the room and they all seem fine with it. The film only covers the bottom 2/5 or so of the window though 👍🏻

Something I struggle with when designing an altar is dusting...how often do you dust? Do you have any tips for dusting around a bunch of little things? What happens for me is I end up setting up something that is pleasing to me, but then it just gathers dust until I decide to take it apart and do something more simple and easy to dust around, and it's just a cycle that i can't get settled. I would say art supplies are definitely witchy :D Thank you for sharing this, you have so many beautiful items to make your space extra special and sacred. I love watching altar tours to get inspiration for my own.

Jen! So lovely to hear from you ❤️ I was thinking about you yesterday, wondering how you’re doing. Did you spot the skull you gave me above my ancestor altar? 🥰 I’m not sure I have good advice about the dusting thing. As you can see I mostly don’t do it 🤣 but I do clean the spaces now and again when they feel dirty, if that makes sense. You can get those little air puff cans which you can use to dust around small objects (like crystals) but I prefer to take everything out and clean it and then put it back. Maybe the same/ maybe different. I find the spaces have an energy and mind of their own.

Thank you ☺️ I can’t help with the cat question as I don’t have one (I’m a crazy dog lady instead 😆) but I know lots of people do find it’s an issue and they have to choose items which won’t hurt the cat, or smash if they fall off. Some people keep altars in boxes and just take the lid off when working at the space. Hopefully someone with cats will come and give you a better answer soon ❤️

@@JessicaandtheMoon 😭😬🤓😂 I only know because my mum was a convent boarding school girl and used to talked about it a lot. She was a pre-1972 catholic convert so her stories of her school days were filled with Dutch nuns in full habits with the sound of rosary beads clacking against their thighs while walking, and all these Latin words and terms! They weren’t as magical as they sound from a time afar apparently, but they were so fascinating to my child’s ears so they are stuck in my memory! You remind me, I have some military grade paracord rosaries (you heard that right) to review! You can design your own and pick your own parts and colours and such 🌸 I can’t decide whether to do that on this channel or my other channel. Anyways. Thanks for this lovely tour 😁 and once again so very congratulation on you evolution, here online, and off ❤️

@@NobodyHere paracord rosaries! 📿 now THERE’s something you don’t hear every day 🤣 I’d definitely watch a review of that! Your mum’s nun memories sound intense. I lived next door to a convent when I was in university and honestly the nuns mostly freaked me out (not all, but some were intimidating - to be fair they probably didn’t love having lairy students living next door). Thanks Anneke ❤️

One of the things I''ve seen people have on their altars or use is a goddess figurine. And many seem to have the swirl around their bellies or pregnant goddess. But I don't' think people realize just what it means. The swirl on the stomach where most women and only women can get pregnant and create life. But not to confuse people, it''s actually about Creation itself. The god and goddess is perfectly balanced and dual pair. God for Destructive and negative. Goddess for Creative and positive. Hence the balance and harmony of Creation and Destruction. The balance and harmony of positive and negative. Not all positive and not all negative. Not all Creation, and not all Destruction. Balance and harmony. God and Goddess so to speak. The whole yin and yang. So many different symbols that depict the balance and harmony of Creation and Destruction. And both men and women can do both. Men can Create or Destroy. Women can Create or Destroy. Men and women and Create and craft arts and crafts or create and build cars or buildings, or create and plan designs for buildings or cities. And both men and women can both Destroy; kill and destroy plants and animals to farm and process and make food for people. Cut and kill the lawn, lol. Kill and destroy friends and relationships. Or Create and and make new friends and relationships. Things like that.

Jessica how do you find out which planet is your ruling planet ? I’m very new to astrology, astronomy and It looks crazy when you look at a north chart for the first time ? I have one through an app I have but at first I can’t make sense of it lol oh dear ! Anyway I was just trying to work out which was my ruling planet . I think I’ve worked it out as my rising /ascendent sign is cancer and I think the corresponding planet to that is the moon ? Is the moon even a planet ? Lol not sure how that works , it would be really helpful if perhaps at some point you could do a video about this subject as I’m so interested and I’m just learning , still unsure about how my ruling planet works if it’s the moon ? I guess the moon is a planet? Xxx
@JessicaandtheMoon2 жыл бұрын
Yes, that’s right Jane. If your ascendant is Cancer then your ruling planet is the moon. Obviously it’s not really a planet in the modern sense but the ancients called all the moving sky orbs planets (from the Latin for foot - traveller) to distinguish them from the stars which are fixed. I hope that helps xx
