You first one is why I carry a Nalgene Cantene - it’s collapsable, wide mouthed, and different from any other container I carry. Leakproof and I haven’t gotten outside of my tent at night since I started carrying it… (I got this tip from a female hiker (Ultra)).

A fly on the wall of my tent could have told stories about what happened between me, #2, and a freezer bag but it chose to take its own life rather than have to live with the memory. It’s between me and God now.

Haha lol! I feel your pain but coudn't help but laugh about how you were describing the having to do number one and number 2 pet peeves. Haha I get annoyed when I wake up in the middle of the night having to use the bathroom and get out of bed after being cozy underneath the covers so I can only imagine it being a lot worse on trail especially at night. Although I can imagine getting up to have to do number 2 at night must be far worse..ahhhh!!! Lol you had me cracking up with this video!

For me, AT 97, hiking stimulates a good bowel movement or 2 or 3 . I didn’t mind except in deep winter. In fact pooing in the woods was more enjoyable than other indoor poos. It did seem at times as soon as I thought the coast was clear and I thought everything was lined up someone invariably would walk by.

Morning, Juliane. I laughed at this video, especially the peeing and pooping stories. I'm an old woman (75). I don't have to unhook my hip belt. I go from not having to go to having to go in a split second. Having to then hustle to the bathroom. And I don't hustle well. As for the pooping, I have a saying when I have to do it more than once. It's called a "one turd at a time" day. The whole video was great. You really are a funny lady. Think I recognized the photo. Think I've seen her somewhere. Lol. Have a great Christmas. That pet pee thing is the same for me also. As soon as the bladder thinks there is a chance of being emptied, he starts the process way too early and dribbles start appearing before it is time. Too much pressure to turn it off. What a pet pee-ve !! Merry Christmas to you and yours !!

Very funny and relatable stuff, even if a little TMI perhaps. My pet peeves are litter and people smoking. It's bad enough that people litter or smoke anywhere, but on trail it really irks me. The whole point of hiking is to appreciate nature and the natural world while doing something good for your body. That people go out into nature and trash it and their bodies is mind-boggling.

lol, great video! Try the bathroom problems when you’re 60+ and never know what’s going to agree with you and if not, when it’s not. I hate leapfrogging too, and especially when someone I don’t care for too much (already chatted during the leapfrogging) makes about the same mileage as you each day.

Yup, those are classic. The entitled hiker who sleeps with their food is number 1 for me. They are so special. It is ok to endanger everyone else. The world revolves around them. Then they have the nerve to brag about how many miles they hike.

My bladder is the same way. Before cancer treatment my bowels empty 3 x within 30= 40 mins every morning too. Maybe the leap frogging is a sign to meet the people Lots of love Happy holidays

You need a wide top pee bottle. Many women I know use these to pee whilst in the tent. All they need is a red light torch so as not to shine it through to other nearby tents. Getting out of the tent is not required just to pee. My biggest pet peeve is having disturbed sleep from noisy fellow campers.

Pet Peeve #1 As a guy, all I can say, is thank God for empty water bottles! My girlfriend laughs and pees. hehe Pet Peeve #2 Hahaha! Three times in the morning! That is crazy. I get up two hours before my hike starts. I have coffee and eat (as much as I can) just so that I go number two before my hike starts. Then I'm good to go until the next morning. Although, there have been a few occasions where once just wasn't enough and about one mile in I'm searching for a spot. Never three!! Pet Peeve #3 I missed, I think it had to do with pet peeve #2 Pet Peeve #4 define 500,000 spots! lol Pet Peeve #5 Leap frogging doesn't bother me too much. Although, one time my group of about eight hikers stopped to take a short break and we were passed by an Asian Gentleman and three other hikers who we had previously passed. After our break, we quickly caught up to them. We trailed behind them for about 5 minutes, so I politely asked if we could go by them (we were obviously hiking at a quicker pace). The Older Asian Gentleman ask, how many. I said there were 8 of us. He said, "NO" too many, you wait. Really!! Additional Pet Peeve Thank God I have no hair! hehehe Additional Pet Peeve #2 Oh the stories I could tell about the extreme changes in weather in a single hike. Thanks again for sharing RR. Waking up in the middle of the night to pee has amazing ramifications. When we are children we can sleep right through the night, even wet ourselves in infancy. But as we get older not so, the question why comes into place. In ancient myths there is the goddess nyx, goddess of the night and she visits wise people in the night and gives clues about life, yet if you dont listen to her then her children (anxiety, nerves, distress, death etc) they come to visit you instead. So waking in the middle of night is a chance to hear from the gods.when we were young we werent ready. Today people havw drugs or phones all to distract from the wisdom of waking at night.

Really RR? 2 thru hikes? I found the true value of a pee cup my first week on the AT😂 When hikers want to set up close to my tent, I politely let them know about my LOUD snoring. No apologies. Just wait until you’re 70 and you have to wipe your butt a minimum of a dozen times and with 18 inches of toilet paper each wipe, and then go upstairs from your basement bathroom and have to go again as soon as you’re upstairs.

Love the way you own your pet peeves! And yes we all have them but most don’t admit them. Heck at 63 years old having to get out of the bed to go to a real bathroom 3-4 steps away still sucks. Gotta find the right spot just like your dog..) I’m ROFLMAO on the whole process of going pee at night but it’s 100% accurate!!! Water doesn’t compress so once it’s full it’s going somewhere! Just asking but wouldn’t being constipated be worse than going 3X? Leapfrogging is just a fact if people are going about the same pace, it’s random when they stop or go off trail to go so it’s going to happen. No use worrying about it. Mother Nature is just letting you know she’s still the boss even if she is a bipolar b*tch.
