Great video, David! I’m an apple guy so I won’t be switching operating systems but I found it very interesting hearing you talk about doing it. Of course I am a Lightroom and Photoshop user although I don’t do huge edits. I’m just used to those programs and how they work so I guess adobe will get my money every month LOL. As far as video editing, I have considered changing and even tried da Vinci Resolve, but in the end after all these years and over 1000 videos, I am still using iMovie. I’ve learned how to make it do everything I need it to do which is not very much. Thanks again, David.

You are one of those rare birds that can make iMove do what you need. I also used it for a long time actually and liked it for the most part, till I wanted to do some little something (that I cant even remember what it was now) and iMovie would not do it, so I looked at Resolve and a few tutorial videos later I was all in on it. Resolve is pretty hot rod software, I didnt like that when the new version would come out how they would rearrange all the stuff and I would have to spend half a day rearranging it back to like it was before...lol. Kdenlive is a lot like resolve to me, it does all the same stuff I did in Resolve, but it is actually easier for me to use. Thank you for dropping in.

Excellent content David. When I saw you in my feed, I clicked on it and wondered what sort of camera a Linux Mint was. My excuse. I wasn't wearing my glasses.🤣

sounds like you're lucky with everything you want to do working well on Linux, I'm a bit jealous.

Well, I couldn't get Resolve to work...so there is that, but Kdenlive does work REALLY well for me. Now the rendering time is crazy long so I start it and just let it render in the background till it finishes while I do something else. But other than that, things have went really smooth. I do have one glitch in the matrix I have worked around that followed me from windows. About once a week it would freeze if I let the screen saver/lock screen come on and sit over night. I figured out it had to do with the programs from what I could tell, so I simply suspend it before going to bed at night and it worked flawlessly now. That is the only problems I seem to have with it though.

Thinking of dumping Adobe. I have read, it is hard to "fire" them. Did you have any issues?

Honestly, I didnt. It was probably a five minute task that was fairly straightforward.

I don’t like editing at all. One of the reasons I love the Lumix. Minimal editing if I can throw a lut and capture in camera.

That was one of the things I really liked about the Fuji XT3 as well, the film simulations were awesome!

My job pays for my Adobe Suites but when I retire, I don’t want to pay $50 a month to stay with them so I will eventually be asking you what software you are using.

I got you fam! I am about this kind of workflow. Others want the power of lightroom and photoshop, but I personally dont need it.
