Idea 1) If you don’t clear half the table then you have to let random member pick something from the pile to either keep for themselves or auction for charity. If you clear three quarters then two random members pick something. If there is no clear difference then three members get to pick something each. Finally if it grows then you have to let five members pick something each. (Don’t have to use all of it I just like the idea tiers of completion) Idea 2) If you don’t clear half the table then you have to you have to auction off the most expensive item in the pile of shame. Idea 3) If you don’t clear half the table then you have to let the community choose the paint scheme for your models during a painting stream. (My vote is for lime green and hot pink.) Idea 4) If you don’t clear half the table you have to do a 24hour painting and building stream. Idea 5) You have to run a second narrative event (and give me a ticket).

Mordian you should do the 13th penal legion "the last chancers" as your next gaurd army, they have traditional gaurdy green and grey as their colours and because they are a penal legion they only have access to second and third line equipment which would excuse having different patterns of the same weapon in one army theme wise.

Piles of shame only grow. If you paint two, you buy four. Trying to push through a pile only makes it grow. The only realistic way to shrink a pile of shame is to sell stuff, which is obviously heretical.

There is also minies that suck in the current ruleset so they're less exciting to work on. Gifts from friends and family. Good battle boxes and offers. Many reasons to get more plastic.

Recently started to record my stash in a spreadsheet. Shocked to find I have over 130 WW2 tanks and vehicles in 1/72 scale to complete. Perhaps 50 of them are ‘table-ready’, as in they can be used on the tabletop but are not ideal. At my current rate of progress they will take several decades to complete. Am currently studying the techniques of Henry Ford… as mass production seems my only hope! 😅

How about doing a mini goal for the main games systems you play? 40k could be getting all the Traitor Guard infantry done, or the Field Ordinance Batteries, etc done in time for the Guard Codex. Old World could be get your childhood Goblin army done. Bolt Action could be get all your Axis units painted. Give yourself 4 months to get each “project” done. I’ll let someone else think of a punishment 😅

Don’t feel bad, my IG pile is about 100 Caiden’s, 10 scion, 3 chimeras, 2 hellhounds, 20 steel legion troopers, 20 each Kasrkin/Krieg and a bunch of heavy weapons squads, 2 bombast cannons. Goal is to have 60 Caiden shock trooper, 10 scions, chimeras, hellhounds done before end of year. The rest of my pile is DG, T-Sons, Aeldari, Black Templars.

Challenge: paint all shame by rotating through the armies. Paint old world then orcs than ect.... try to go through whole list of different armies weekly or monthly. Punishment: failure means donating GW price of unpainted models to charity.

Get an air brush. Undercoat, base coat, highlight, and shade 100+ models in an hour. Then just pick out details and metals, and give a wash.

Sometimes the mini is only briefly available on the market. You have to buy it while it’s there. At least 75% of the models in my pile are simply no longer available. Also, I buy in bulk to save on postage, which can be 50% of the model price.
