I would totally recommend her album Let England Shake. It has a really unique otherworldly sound to me. Also, have you ever looked into Nick Cave? She dated him for a brief period and he has some really great stuff, although it is definitely an acquired taste lol. I love the Album Henry's Dream.

You seem really cool! 😭😭 I've recently started getting into PJ. I like To Bring You My Love and Stories From The City, Stories From The Sea so far, and some other random songs from her lmao. Do you have any suggestions for projects of hers worth a listen next??
@FayboCo24 күн бұрын
hi! Thank you and thank you for watching. Well, if you like Stories and TBYML i would probably reccomend the album Is This Desire or Dry. Is This Desire is her most popular among other fans i've noticed so its a good one to start with.

nice one! I've just been getting into PJ Harvey for the last couple of months and I'm about to start collecting. I have been through this with Oasis so I kinda know what to expect but who could predict how I'll cope financially :D

Great to see your PJ Harvey stuff! I have that same Q magazine and same NME (Interview with the vamp) one. I also have Spin (May 1995 and April 2001), Puncture (Spring 1995), Option (March/April 1995), Pulse! (March 1995), Melody Maker (July 10, 1993), and some other NME, Melody Maker, and Spin mags from the 1990s in which she's not the main cover picture. Some CDs I have are Europe 1993, Build Me a Woman, The Crow: City of Angels soundtrack (Naked Cousin), promo CD single for the song "Dry" with the Rid of Me tour schedule sticker, Too Pure - The Peel Sessions, Good Fortune exclusive Austrailian CD single, Is This Desire with bonus disc, Henry Lee CD single, and her CD singles from the 1990s and early 2000s. I remember wanting to get the Reeling video but they didn't have it here in the US. That's so awesome that you have the signed stuff! Sorry about my long-ish comment!

I'm envious. if only my mum would buy me anything PJ. I had all the reissues plus demos on vinyl but my collection burned in a recent house fire, and I asked, "Is that all there is to a fire?" kidding. And I had all her CDs, plus the Please Leave Quietly DVD, plus some CD singles. I also have most of the videos that are online with PJ. How long have you been collecting? You have loads! Oh and I make my own PJ badges too, and clothes. I haven't drawn her, but have manipulated online photos with Adobe. I did start a bust out of clay, but I never finished it. I don't have her image tattooed on me either, I tattoo my clothes with her image instead lol. I haven't written to her: my letters always end up far too long and I don't want to waste her time. Thanks for sharing. Edit: I also wanted to ask, how you first discovered PJ?
@FayboCo6 күн бұрын
@@BlackThyme hi thank you for commenting! Your collection sounds awesome! Can’t believe you have some of the videos! I’ve been looking for them recently but they’re hard to find at an affordable price for me. They’d be cool to have, I’m thinking of getting the TBYML EPK thing on VHS so I actually have more of a reason to have a VCR., because the only VHS tape I have at the moment is Reeling lol. I’ve been adding a good bit to my collection over the past few weeks but I won’t make another collection video until later in the year I think, might become a thing I do on her birthday haha! Honestly, my letter was quite spontaneous because I didn’t think it’d *actually* get to her so I ended up writing stuff that I’d change if I’d done it now. If I’d had known it’d get to her I’d have the same concern as you about wasting her time, and I worry about that even now still, thinking “oh no what if she was upset that I sent her something”! To answer your question: I very first discovered her when I was about 7 because my mum would play Let England Shake quite a bit and I remember loving it but being too embarrassed to say. Then when I was 11 I started listening to Let England Shake quite a lot and reading her interviews and stuff (but in secret because I was still embarrassed to say anything) I used to show my friends the Good Fortune music video but they said I was weird so I stopped listening to her AGAIN! But when I was 13 I was bored one day and found the SFTCSFTS CD and decided to put it on, since then I was completely obsessed lol. Sorry for long reply :) (Also I liked the Is That All There Is reference haha)
@BlackThyme5 күн бұрын
@FayboCo hi, thanks for your reply. My collection has gone now, it burnt in the house fire, which did happen, but when I tell people PJ's lyrics pop outta my mouth so...anyway, I'm saddened that you went through a period of time being embarrassed because you enjoy PJ's music. I've been listening to her since I first came upon her while driving my car and listening to the local alternative radio station RTR FM in Perth Western Australia. Down By the Water came on and threw me outta my car window, not really. I'd never heard anything like it before so I stopped at the next set of strip shops and there was a record store, so I bought TBYML and Dry and 4-track demos. it was called mixcha, I had the price sticker on TBYML until it burnt this past July. It cost $19.99, about the same a cd costs today! (PJ needs a pay rise!) The woman who served me said, "have you heard this?" with a sneer, and I said yeah, give me more please. PJ is still my go to for when I listen to music, not much else gets a hearing, and if it doesn't grab me like PJ does then I don't persist. Take care, and be proud of your excellent taste in music

@@BlackThyme oh I’m sorry to hear about your collection, I thought you were joking. My mistake. Hope you didn’t lose too many belongings 😬😬. It’s so great to hear people stories about how they got into PJ especially when it was in the 90s or what a lot of people consider her “prime” because I wishhhh I could be there! Would be so amazing. Must’ve been so good seeing her change so much throughout her career. Pj is also (mostly) my go-to. I listen to lots of music but I don’t have any obsessions like I do with PJ, the only one that came close in a long time was Portishead, I loved them for a while and started collecting stuff but it went away pretty fast. It’s been about 2 and a half years of liking PJ currently and I go in and out of phases with her.

@FayboCo Why were you embarrassed about having your mom know about you liking PJ's music? Is she still a fan?
@FayboCoКүн бұрын
@@spmnh i dont know why i was embarrassed, i was just shy about things i liked for a long time. Also i i was afraid she'd think it was "inappropriate" considering i was veeeery young, especially anything before 2007. I told her about this recently and she laughed and said that i wouldnt have been in trouble or anything lol.She still loves PJ but hasn't listened to her in a long time (other than when i show her videos) she cant remeber the last time she heard uh huh her
