Great work man. This is called dedication - those years and hundreds of workouts that people dont see when watching videos and judge only the end product. Cant even memorize how many failure and weak sessions I had as well before I reached anything. Been following your progress for a while and I have to agree with other comments, for your height and weight getting the planche is incredible. I'm a couple inches taller and was slightly heavier back in high school. I was frustrated by not being able to hold a cross on the rings although I was very strong. My coach, who was a physics teacher, calculated that if I placed the rings inside my wrists instead of 2" forward in my palms I probably had enough strength to hold it. Sure enough by using a step and placing the rings as suggested I could hold it all day. It took a couple of years to be able to move it out those 2" though. That's why you don't see many gymnasts our size.

Hey Daniel, Not often does a video give me a reason to take the time to comment. So first of all: Video presentation: sick! Clarity of instruction and experience: crystal. Quality of free information and potential benefit to viewers: fucking dope! Your level of individual perseverance: Tibetan monk. Now for why I'm commenting at all. I'm 25, a trainer/coach (I prefer teacher) and my training style continues to grow and develop to be less and less "sexy" over the years. I prefer to preach, teach, and practice reality instead of flashy gimmicks. I see your instruction and training approach is similar and potentially even more so. I'm sorry you had to experience such an inhibiting injury, your ability to overcome it and push through to accomplish your goal is nothing short of inspiring. With that being said, I cannot emphasize enough how INSANELY GRATEFUL I am for 2:52!! One of my biggest pet peeves and something I find myself preaching far too often is about safely returning a barbell to the rack. I've explained to people far too often, "Stay standing straight. Walk straight forward until you physically can't because you hit the rack. Then simply squat down into the pins. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES try to set the bar INTO the PIN specifically. I don't care how fatigued you are. I don't care how badly you want that weight off your chest. One day, especially when you're extra fatigued, you will miss. When you miss with something heavy and your knee jerk reaction is to correct, you're going to hurt something. You don't often get hurt during your actual exercise. You more often get hurt from poor habits before and after your actual exercise." I apologize for the novel. But I'll have you know that I will be using 2:52 for the rest of my days as an absolutely impeccable example of one of the things I preach most to keep my clients safe. I can't thank you enough for this resource and again I'm sorry you had to experience it. Forever grateful, Trevor P.S. As someone ~85kg and also 6' I am definitely inspired by the information and success of your planche progression. I'm just starting my journey into gymnastics training and have had a hope to prove that tall people can master difficult bodyweight challenges like this. Thus the reason why I clicked the video in the first place. Thanks again!

You are perhaps the only calisthenic guy with strong thick legs which are proportionate with your upper body. Excellent video, very inspiring and encouraging to never give up, even in the face of adversity. I know that I am starting late in life to want to do the planche (I'm 41), and then to maybe work towards other strength/calisthenics moves, but I am determined, and seeing you show this dedication is a help.
