Doula here!! I really advocate for my clients to touch their baby's heads as they're in labor. I feel like it's very grounding, and re-enforces the fact that they're so close to meeting their baby!! Almost every time, mommas get a second wind after, and it's so beautiful to watch.

Beautiful story! I want to second what you said about an unmedicated birth being something that we are made to do. I had an unmedicated unassisted first birth, crazy fast (108 minutes 5 pushes). I truly believe it was because I spent so much time preparing my body and mind and had absolutely no doubt that the experience I desired was already mine, and that my daughter was working with me. The midwives tried to make it, but only arrived to see me push her out. The story of first births being long and hard is a narrative I hope to change. We are powerful manifestors.

Preparing our mind is probably one of the most important but forgotten as a focus before birth. I chose to create a calm room and promised myself I would be supportive of my husband even though I am in pain…. I wanted us both to have nice memories with kindness in the room…. No nasty or abusive comments to him at all.…. It was wonderful when our baby was born there were tears of happiness. Later he told me he was petrified of me saying something evil because that’s what he thought all births were like.

My first birth was almost exactly like that. I showed up to the hospital at 8cm. Pretty quick labor once active labor started. She came out with the cord around her neck and was purple. They had to cut the cord early and were able to get her breathing. I didn’t really know what was happening thankfully my mom and husband were there. I also pushed in all 4s. So thankful both our babies are ok. ❤ I’m pregnant with my second and planning another unmediated birth. I’m due in July

Would love some elaboration on pushing on all fours rather than the back? It does somehow seem more natural but would love some further explanation as to how you decided to do so, it’s safety vs on back, pain levels vs on back, etc etc. Your videos are really awesome thank you so much for sharing this raw footage. I cried during the labor it is such a powerful thing to see.

Congratulations! What a gift to have a positive birth experience. I had my first child at 36 y/o 4 weeks ago at home outside on my terrace in my bathtub with my mom, partner, and doula (and dad off to the side). Nothing has felt more natural. I couldn’t have imagined better people to be with me. It went so beautifully. I’m grateful everyday to be healthy and have this perfect healthy boy! I also will be making a longer form birth video soon which is very exciting to share!

I just came over after the vlog. I was cryingggg lol. Birth is funny because it’s so common yet so new for every mommy, even after your first! We had many similarities with our second kiddos with no pain meds, a wave of nausea before pushing, very vocal 😂, and now I know Oakley came on a Monday too. My boy is 6 now and my daughter is 10. I love your channel for so many reasons, but it’s mostly because you highlight some of the areas I want to improve, such as healthy living while parenting. I’m a teacher, so I have the discipline stuff down, but I’m on the struggle bus trying to feed my kids. Thanks for lovely free content ❤

My babies are now adults but when I had our son, I planned a medicated birth…. But the epidural didn’t work. They gave me 3…. So I delivered our sin with no pain relief and truly grateful that I experienced childbirth without medication (but respect it is an individual choice too ❤). He was my first baby and I KNEW instinctively that there were changes in the labour. I asked the midwife to look at I started pushing. Listen to your body…. It really dies know… even if we don’t realise yet. The advice for relaxing and breathing between contractions is perfect. I did this too and felt surprisingly calm for the 7 hours of labour. If I had a do over..l would happily choose no pain relief and actually experience birth like my great grandmother, ggg grandmother…. All the female ancestors that did this before me. I wish everyone a positive birth experience and a beautiful journey through parenthood

Totally agree with your comments on going overdue. I had my second at 41 weeks and a day. Throughout my whole pregnancy I was expecting for that to happen and I was prepared until I was overdue and people started to say those comments. It just plays with your head. Totally agree! Don’t tell people your due date.

Watching your birth vlog I was so nervous you wouldn’t make it to the hospital on time. My 2nd baby was born 10 minutes after my water broke. I went from 8 to 10 centimeters in 3 contractions and pushed her out in 2. It was wild! Glad you made it and had a beautiful positive birth. Oakley is a cutie pie!

My first was like this! Water broke just as we got to the hospital and was already 8cm. 2 contractions later and I was 10cm and he was out in 3 pushes. My entire labor was 2.5h from the very first contraction. Slightly terrified #2 will be born at home or in the car 😂

My birth experience was good , can’t complain , amazing doctor and midwives but what followed next… here, I wasn’t allowed to have my husband or anyone with me. So i just had a glimpse of him holding the baby, giving me some soup and then he was gone and I had to spend 3 days eith my newborn all alone in the hospital… traumatizing and what led to my post partum depression. Hearing you and Matt now.. I realize if I had had my hubby there, my experience would have been so different! Having your partenr with you is everything

We have a 2 hour drive..... We made it with 5:6 of the babies delivered there. My husband delivered the 6th on the side of the hwy at 11:30 pm. Next baby is due any day now. Everyone is giving me grief and stressing that I get to the hospital before I deliver this time. (Like I could hold him in?) Besides I'm a L&D nurse, my husband is an EMT and rapid births rarely have problems.

I was "late" with all of my three children. My mom had the same with 5 children. I believe that is because we both have long menstrual cycles and/or the ovulation happened later. With the first two babies I lost nerves some days after the due date and got inductions. But the second birth went not very ideal and I felt like that was because of the induction. So for the third baby I prepared myself for a long wait. The birth started 11 days after the due date with water breaking and it was honestly the best birth.

lol @ having a contraction right when you get to the hospital. I had one in the hallway on our walk to l&d and I had to squat down and moan through it. My husband was getting emotional, people were walking by, some guy even asked my mom if we were ok. Afterwards I remember thinking wow that was crazy I just did that in public and couldn’t control a thing! I felt silly but that moment always makes me laugh

Before that final push I told myself something similar. I told myself during the next break to try to really relax before my next big push and I actually fell asleep for a moment lol. It freaked my husband out but the midwife was like yeah that happens, its just her body getting the rest it needs to keep going. I was pushing for 2.5 hours but my boy also had his hand up by his head coming out (we didnt know until he was out) so that made it more difficult

Girl I give it to you, I was medicated and induced to both at 39 weeks being pre diabetic I was at risk funny thing my due date was originally for both was September 2nd but I give birth on August 25th and then 5 years later September 5th in labor on labor day 😂

My first was two weeks early and me second baby I had to be induced 10 days past due date because that’s when your placenta degrades, less oxygen for baby etc. And we actually did have issues…he was not breathing (he’s fine don’t worry! Very healthy kid). But my second labour, although faster (9.5 hours with 2 hours pushing, verses 27 hours with 4.5 hours pushing) was just scary and horrendous. I dont think pushing it as long as you can is best for all. I had choice of « social induction » a week prior, but didn’t want the Foley Catheter and the risk of being sent home everytime someone else showed up in labour so I waited until medically necessary induction date (10 days). Had I known the issues I’d be facing with waiting, I’d have gone earlier. I’m so happy you were good and that Oakley was healthy ❤

Im annoyed i live 2 hrs away from the hospital because i cant keep driving to the hospital to meet my ob, plus another day for an ultrasound and the stress test so I scheduled an induction date, i really wanted to wait longer to because i have no medical need to be induced, i just cant afford these visits because i live so far away,
