If anyone here is concerned about tearing ...I repeat do not push just relax and breathe baby out. Your contractions will ease baby out with the reflex.

Adding another comment after thinking about your video: Matt should definitely do a video on how HE preped for your labor ! That would be so helpful for partners that want to help! How he prepared, what ressources he used, techniques, advices, how you communicated together around this major event in you lives... would LOVE to see that and it would be a must watch for my man 🙏💖💯

I was in labor with my first for 70 hours before requesting the epidural. I waited because of pride. I waited because of this notion that I wasn't a real woman if I didn't suffer adequately. I wish I hadn't done that to myself or my baby. Once I got the epidural, I could relax and she came down to be born. You decide what works for you, it's your birth.

Your video represented the reality of natural childbirth so beautifully. It’s sooo empowering yet for sure the hardest thing ever! Sage is adorable and I’m so happy for y’all!

I just had my baby about a month ago without any medication as well. A lot of the comments about labor that you said are so true. I was 6cm when I got to the hospital. We left the house at 4 something. Was at the hospital like at 4:40am had to fill out all the paperwork in pain then at 5:30am I was technically admitted. Then while in the room I was pushing with every contraction. He was born at 6:12am but he came at 35w4days so the NICU nurses took him to check him. For me everything happened so quickly.

I wanted a natural birth SO badly. I had preeclampsia and had to be induced at 35 weeks. It was not ideal, but I made it as long as I could without the epidural. I used hypnobirth which helped so much. I ended up needing a c-section because of my blood pressure, but I hope to have a natural birth next time!! I love the way you share Sage with us. She's beautiful!

@salo813 жыл бұрын
It is really good to do all the preparations, but also I want to say that in the moment you tear, you cant care less about that. My midwife said that in that moment you skin in that area is paper thin due to babies head pushing against it. Its not like "normal" skin gets torn. Do not work yourself up on that thought.
@coppersulphate0023 жыл бұрын
The most important thing is listen to your body. Your body will do all the work. I say all this to say that there's no need to push. Well trained midwives would tell you this. Being on all fours helps also.

Sage is going to have a connection with you because you’re her father and you never know how it may impact her to see her friends have their father’s names and she doesn’t. These things can seem small, but they do impact a child’s sense of identity along the way. A double last name is extremely common for many Latinos and would have avoided this risk. Also if you guys aren’t married the child carrying the father’s last name can help guarantee certain rights for him in regards to custody and visitation if there were ever a split (depending on the state). Regardless, beautiful birth story. Wishing you guys the best.

Since you are not married I found it completely normal that Sage has your last name, you gave birth to her after all. Crazy that people have such antiquated views of passing on the guy's name. Names don't need to be passed on, it's what you do while u are here that matters.💖 I laughed when Matt says "we are not kings" haha exactly! In France people say you should have a boy and girl, "the king's choice", also completely outdated!

FYI, taking meds is okay. Not having a “natural” birth is okay. Giving birth in and of itself is a miracle, blessing, and major accomplishment. However you see fit to do that, you’re okay.
@HealthNutNutrition3 жыл бұрын
120%! This is exactly what I talk about on my Instagram posts around birth. A healthy mama and baby is always the goal no matter how you need to get there.
@surlespasdondine3 жыл бұрын
She said that same thing at the beginning.
@ML-fx6ce3 жыл бұрын
Ufortunately the message, that not having a ‘natural’ birth is okay and is just as special, gets subverted by the title of the video. Even if you don’t mean it that way, the title implies that natural and no medication is best. And speaking from personal experience that can be very upsetting or even harmful to new mothers who would love to go the natural route but for whom that is not an option.
@surlespasdondine3 жыл бұрын
@@ML-fx6ce I think it's a personal interpretation, I don't hear the title like that at all. It's more like an indication that the footage will probably be intense. I think every birth is special but of course you are allowed to be proud of yourself for giving birth without meds. I would also put it in the title if it was me.🤓 I gave birth with an epidural and don't understand why I would be offended, don't understand why people always need to conpare themselves to others. Very happy for Nikole and she can be damn proud.😎 (as we all can be)
@lorelwebber64353 жыл бұрын
Lots of my medical friends joke about it being legit a conspiracy these kinds of no medicine birthing promotors and also the system is trying to prevent mothers from avhieving pain free labor. To the point they try to delay your epidural or take their time and then point blank can and often do refuse it if you are too far progressed. Also on an interesting note having had an epidural twice, once at about 4cm and second time before starting an induction(which not many ppl know can be done) It is painless and actually dialates women very fast in my experience.
@Hearts4Oreo3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for sharing ❤️ Took me right back to my own experience 7 months ago. I had a similar plan of labouring as much as possible at home and then go to the hospital. When I did get there I was in excruciating pain...turns out we had cut it really close and I was already 10cm and ready to push!! Haha we had no idea how close our baby was to being born in the car!

It is soo true that when a woman who has been coping with active labor gets to that point of ok can't handle any more of this it is usually because birth is imminent and pain is not going to get any harder
@patty-cf7jj3 жыл бұрын
So true. I was demanding an epidural although they told me it was too late for one at that point, and afterwards I wished I hadn’t done that because it was out if the fear that it was going to get even worse, but it didn’t. That was the worst if it and my baby was born only moments later.

Hey just a quick advise, I'm not sure you're supposed to put the baby to sit until a certain age (not sure at what month it's ok). Maybe you can check it because the way you put her sit on your leg doesn't seem right. Stay healthy!
@lorelwebber64353 жыл бұрын
Usually once they have full control of neck which for my babies was 3 months
@surlespasdondine3 жыл бұрын
So what you are not supposed to do is put them in the sitting position unsupported to try and make them sit-they are supposed to do that on their own when they are ready. Holding them in a sitting position (I often did that to burp my babies more effectively) is fine.

Same I did with my first as it was just too intense(thinking because of babys position) so got it after 30th hour trying to dialate. Then with second I had it before we began my induction, for me it is amazing had completely pain free birth..only thing that hurt was the catheter😁
@bu2ful1193 жыл бұрын
I hate catheters! I waited until it had been 70 hours of labor, cervix softeners, even a Foley bulb didn't work. It was so painful. After I got the epidural (at hour 70) my body relaxed and she came down to be born. I think I was just worried they would cut me open. I did NOT want a C-section. Nothing wrong with it for others I just didn't want it.

I don’t understand lying down on your back during labor either. I would see that in movies but I had to pace back and forth during a contraction, and when I couldn’t such as in the elevator at the hospital, I would squat. I did whatever came naturally. And I also remember so clearly that sensation you talked about when your body takes over and your entire body naturally pushes.
