I hope Cooper Howard isn't treated like he's some sort of antagonist that redeems himself through death kinda trope. I think he should be a companion by the end of season 1 with Maximus & CX404 too because it could open up the Fallout tv show's story to be that of an cooperative adventure. I think modern Fallout games should have some sort of party system to begin with to sell the greater sense of adventure in an RPG.

To me Lucy should not be the strongest or even the most knowledgeable person, but she seems to be the prime character for someone that represents being the bubbly standard leader that everyone will feel united with. I hope that Lucy is the type that feels like she should help others even if it would stray from her main questline. It would replicate how the player character doesn’t care about the main quest in bethesda games! XD But still fit as Lucy’s character trait to help others of course.

@@jessep5280 most likely the show will treat lore casually and fingers crossing that it doesn't make the hardcore fallout 1/2/NV lovers find too much arguments to spawn. But the normie casual audience will find the characters fun and talk about them instead. it's just more engaging for mostly hardcore fans to talk about lore instead of thinking up ways on how the show could have a good narrative. I just hope the story doesn't feel so limited from it being a frankly mini-series like show, Fallout would work much better to me as a long-term spaghetti western tv show or something.

I couldnt get into fallout before Synon. I tried so hard becuase i wanted to bond with my stepdad over it but couldnt until i found this channel. Now i have 3, NV, and 4 downloaded on my xbox and i play them regularly. (3 is my favorite) My first video was the Master one and man is it neat to see a possible Master storyline in the show. The Courier literally might have done it for The Followers, The Kings, The BoS, The White Gloves (since one can join them all) or just for themselves. Also IIRC it is only Freeside that really suffers in the Independent path which I feel is bs because between The Kings and The Followers Freeside would never suffer once Mr. House and NCR are out of the picture.

Weird.. since the courier replaced house, they should really handle that problem. As for the NCR and legion, WHICH HAVE A HUGE PRESENCE in the west. They're licking their wounds. Suffering in defeat. I just dont buy the BoS bullsht theyre doing in the trailer smh. But judging from the fallout 1 and 2 endings. Maybe the BoS did change. I mean both protagonists are outsiders and DID save the wasteland. Maybe they've been inspired by that? Like what happened in lyon's chapter. Another thing I would love to see is at least a cameo or a mention of Caesar's legion, I know that they were pretty much obliterated in the 2nd battle of hoover dam but considering they gained so much territory in the west, it would be shocking that if no one remembered their terrifying presence.

Well we don’t know if they survived for all we know the courier could’ve spared lanius and sent him back east with Caesar’s army maybe both got pushed out of the Mojave by mr house who is rumoured to be in the show and this show is set 10 years after new Vegas and F4 so I can imagine the canon ending is houses ending which if it is I still think that’s a great outcome it makes sense since it’s the one dude that saved the courier and sent them on their path

The NCR are facing even more issues than what you listed. Unfortunately KZbin won’t let me post links so if anyone has ideas on how I can give them let me know in the replies. But New Vegas painted a pretty dire picture for the NCR. Regardless of what ending you get. The game showed they were facing a huge amount of problems: • The head of the Rangers is so worried about the survival of the NCR he tried to manipulate intelligence to get it to pull out of the Mojave. • Hanlon specifically says back home the NCR has pumped out all the water even in the aquifers. • As you said Hildern tells you that according to studies they've done comparing the NCR's population vs. production, they're going to be facing mass starvations in a "decade or so" •O'Hanrahan talks about how they've had bad harvests several times in a row now that caused him to have to join the army. • Arcade tells you that the NCR is running out of medical supplies. • The government can't pay people because the NCR dollar is a fiat currency when it’s not strong enough to enforce that. This is because the Brotherhood managed destroy the NCR’s gold reserves, causing a major economic crisis. Something the NCR still hasn’t recovered from (hence why the NCR Dollar is so devalued in new Vegas). •Rampant corporate corruption and attempts at monopolisation. •Imperialist Expansionism leading to an massive delays in reinforcements. • Extreme Institutional Corruption preventing them from equipping their frontline troops with even basic necessities when they’re only about 300 miles away. (BoS Was able to easily project power over 400 miles away) • Corporate/Oligarchal lobbying causing the NCR’s best troops to be stationed protecting the resources of oligarchs. •Prioritisation of re-election/retaining power at the expense of people’s well-being. Such as when [Senator Morales wants you to wipe out jacobs town to appeal to Brahmin barons and the Electorate. Or when Mojave soldiers don’t get the supplies they need because representatives won’t allocate funds because it’s unpopular. • General Corporate and institutional Infighting. The NCR’s in a lot of deep shit so then being diminished in the show’s time wouldn’t be a surprise.

I am nervous about the show but at the same time I’m excited. I really want to know what happened with the NCR and how the BOS rose to power again. Honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if the NCR experienced a massive collapse and Arthur Maxson used that to his advantage. The NCR was full of problems: political corruption, High taxes, like you said lack of food, and being stretched too thin.

NCR had many problem with its borders as stated in new vegas. i think in the south (which was the reason the veteran rangers were not able to help in new vegas right away) and especially in the hoover dam. a loss in either side will be devastating considering their already internal problems as you mentioned.

Bethesda's games set on the East Coast, like those in Boston and D.C., are vastly different from the original West Coast games and New Vegas. On the West Coast, places like New Vegas, New Caanon, LA, Shady Sands, San Francisco, New Reno, and possibly Phoenix (as hinted by characters like Raul and some Legionnaires) are depicted as relatively rebuilt and civilized. In contrast, the East Coast settings like Boston and D.C. are depicted as rundown wastelands, with the primary signs of civilization being makeshift settlements, such as a shanty town in a baseball stadium and an old warship docked in D.C.

Its likely gonna be another find the macguffin fallout story. Water chip, geck, geck, platinum chip,... uh and i guess mass fusion reactor. Likely a geck aswell this time. The NCR better be a big part aswell given the location, the " prydwen " is likely just a sister ship made to bolster the Western BoS' presence in the region. I like that its canon and takes place after the games. Even like that its set in the west. But they have alot more things to sort out than in the East just due to how developed the west is. They woulda been better off dealing with the East but we shall see

The platinum chip was only really half macguffin, it has actual game gameplay consequences in the secret securitron vault under the fort. If you side with house or yes man, having those extra securitrons (and their upgrades from the platinum chip) does indeed make getting to the legate at the end of the game easier. If you side with NCR, you never have to have the chip at all. You still can get it, but it's not required.

I agree with the idea that the NCR will be a player in the story but perhaps on a decline in power/territory compared to what we've seen of them previously. In the trailer we see Maximus running and stumbling through an active battlefield with what looks to me like artillery blasts going off around him. Assuming I'm correct and it is artillery (and not just a bunch of grenades or other man-portable ordinance), I can only think of one prominent faction aside from the Brotherhood or the Boomers who might have access to such weaponry. The NCR. I'm putting on a tinfoil hat now and guessing that the NCR might actually end up being the primary antagonists in search of the same "artifact" that the protagonists are. We can safely say the NCR wouldn't be above fighting some wastelanders for a valuable artifact, especially if it truly is a GECK and double-especially if the BoS, their main rivals, are also after it. If that is the case, keeping the NCR hidden from promotional material might make for a great surprise.

I was playing Fallout 2 recently and it something like the part you need to get to make the car run is Rare and without the car is junk. Airships are just big gas bags wrapped in foil while Vertibirds and Robots were probably underground or in Military bases. The cars that run are Civilian.

Excellent video sir! Really well put together. On my channel, my viewers' biggest complaint was the lack of the NCR. I told them much the same as you have here... the NCR could well be reduced or gone altogether, this doesn't break lore at all, for as you also point out here, the NCR were in the early stages of collapse in New Vegas, and this show is set 14 years later. One more thing to note again on the NCR theme is in the trailer we do see the Brotherhood in combat but we don't see who they are fighting, perhaps this could be the NCR as there did seem to be explosions going off around Maximus, so maybe this is the NCR and they are just off-screen in this brief scene. I'm also interested in the comment by Nolan that the show has three linked vaults. I think it's safe to say that vaults 33 and 32 will be linked but I'm not so sure about vault 4 being the third one. If they are on a quest to vault 4 ( which I think your guess here is quite logical ) would it not be pretty easy to get to if it's linked to the other two? If they keep the numbers sequential ( which I know they don't have to be ) it's not likely to be vault 34 as we see that vault in New Vegas but vault 31 was only seen in Fallout Shelter so could be an option perhaps? A final point on the BoS. We see them at the Wendover Airbase in Utah. I know with CG they could make this into any base they like, it doesn't have to be the real base. But that said the Wendover base is a historic one for the US nuclear program and the Vertibird does have the number of a unit stationed at that base if my memory serves me. So it seems they could be using it as Wendover, plus it's a nice stopping-off point if you were flying from Boston or Dc to the West Coast?

Fun note for the NCR, 5 years before New Vegas, the brotherhood blew up the NCR's gold reserve which led to the return of bottlecaps, so its not just a Boneyard thing, either with them spreading too thin after winning the Battle of Hoover Dam, having been pushed back but barely surviving the legion (which then collapses likely after Caesar dies), or having been boxed in a bit by an independent Mojave under either full independence or House, they may very well have more or less collapsed.

Theory on why things are the way they are: Bethesda despises the fact that they have to constantly worry about breaking Black Isle/Obsidian lore as well as Fallout New Vegas being the ultimate fan favorite which causes them to be resentful over anything established by Obsidian in that game. They can use this show as a way to overwrite all of that history to establish lore and elements of their own choosing. NCR will 100% not play a major role in the show and will either be sidelined or retconned in conversations.

The fact that Lucy already has a pipboy in the posters makes me hope they do something interesting with that. To me, I hope Lucy has a very slow start with getting used to the wasteland and it is a character journey for her to be the main character the story would expect her to be gradually. I think it would be a fun character twist if just everyone expects her to be some sort of actual legendary omen that will help them with their plights due to the fact that she has a pipboy. And track records all over the wasteland spread that people with pipboys are usually the ones that carry different factions towards huge results. To me, Lucy should be carried from having companions alongside her and not be some sort of inspiring figure for everyone. She should be a character that connects her companions together but not really be all that charismatic that she can just change everything. She should change things with the people she connects with, not entire factions. I also think Lucy should be at her breaking point sometime in the show where she just cannot choose some sort of major faction to align with and actually becomes some sort of explorative wanderer. To subvert the expectations legendary figures like the courier, the fallout 1 vault dweller, sole survivor, etc manage to meet for their own stories.

Jonathan Nolan has made some really cool stuff and from his interviews he sounds like a legit fan of the series. Good luck justifying to the fans the removal or "destruction" of Caeser's Legion, the Institute and anything remotely interesting. Let's all hold hands and sing Kumbaya together, everyone!

@@ARandomNerd88 I mean both of those groups could very well be wiped out by the time of the show and that would still very much line up with the games, no? Several of the endings of FO4 see the Institute destroyed and unless the player sides with the Legion, both House and the NCR defeat the Legion, which was probably going to splinter anyway unless canonically the courier prevented Caesar's death. I understand your concern but those two examples in particular I think are fairly plausible.

@@thoughtfuldoomguy It's only been 14 years. Caeser's Legion has only existed for the last 30+ years or so if I'm not mistaken, due to the amount of time that passed since FO:NV began and Caeser's campaign took off. The institute had been in existence since the end of the great war. Although, it's been a while and I don't keep up to date with the direct facts that much on a continuous basis, but a organization like that and even the Legion always has a contingency plan in place, you can't calk yourself an intelligent person if you don't plan ahead for unseen circumstances. Whereas Mr. House, hell even the Mother Ship Zeta, all leave to remain unseen. I'd admit I'd be interested to see the human world plunge into total chaos if the aliens decided to take over and conquer the American continent for shits, giggles and research as a total "Woah, what a twist!" Scenario. That'd be something cool to see at least as if it's considered canon, it sets up for Fallout Six easily.

Why is everybody so hung up on a cyclopse? This is a world woth talking molerats, hulks, robot dogs, human brains inside robots, i could go on, and this is inside a vault which could be anything from an experiment on eyes to radiation to fev which btw exists and makes all kinds of mutants. All things considering a cyclopse seems completely reasonable.

None of the Vaults by this show can be found in game. They literally state they added these and have never been seen before. And no, im not gonna shut my brain off because someone spams "Its gonna be great, or, Id love to see the Master make an appearance". One. The Master had been dead since the end of Fallout 1. When the Cathedral got vaporized by the nuke in the Basement. Two. Its Amazon, you know RINGS OF POWER? Which sh*t on the lore Tolkien crafted by hand? The only way Fallout is saved is by people not acting like Corporate Bootlickers and taking control of the franchise OURSELVES.

Well it depends on the type of Fallout fans you're talking about, if you're talking about the hardcore lore fans then yeah they'll find the flaws of the show. there are other Fallout fans that just hope it has a good story or at least engaging characters to talk about a lot. (Most likely Cooper Howard)

It’s going to be awesome feeling embarrassed in a couple months for all of the amazing and moving things I had raved to friends, family, and strangers about Fallout since I was little kid only for them to finally get to experience the story for themselves and come away thinking it was nothing at all special like I had made it out to be and think that none of the great, dark, unique, and philosophical things I had told them about the world are actually even a part of the Fallout universe. I can’t wait to look like a dumbass to all of the countless people I had hyped the game up to years ago who decide to watch the new show now to see what it’s all really about.
