I always equate easy zone 2 to lifting light weights at the gym. Curling 15 pound dumbbells you can do a lot of reps but you can only make so much progress before having to increase the sets and reps or the resistance. Having that variety while running with varying zones is important too

As a heavier guy I hit zone 2 while walking. Nowadays walking is not enough to hit zone 2, so I cycle. It looks "casual" enough to not look ridiculous, and by pausing pedaling I can control the Heartrate.

That's what happened to me today, last time I run was 10 years ago, I'm 30 years old, run about 100 meters my heart rate spikes to 186 bpm, then I couldn't stay at zone 2 while running so I just kept walking fast for 60 minutes, during this time my heart rate was between 150 bpm to 130 bpm. Zone 2.

After 2 years of running i finally can hit zone 2 for more than 45 minutes. 👌
