I'm a bit older than you so have a few more decades of sitting for 12+ hours/day experience and I can tell you one thing. Repeat after me: stretching. You mentioned daily exercise at the end of the video and it is super important, but daily stretching (at least 15-30 minutes a day) is far more important. I used to have back problems as well and they all went away after 2 or 3 weeks of daily stretching. I've learned my lesson and now I do it every day. After I finish my day job and am about to start coding/learning I will stretch. Or before going to bed at night. Works like a charm. Now it really doesn't matter what desk/chair I'm using. It's all about stretching. I wish I learned this a few decades earlier 😃 Also, I think you mentioned it briefly but being stationary (whatever position) is actually life-threatening.

I tried it and it is wonderful. I have had tailbone pain for a while and can't sit on any chair. You should get a trifold mattress and spread it next to your desk. Then mount your monitor on a monitor arm and bring your monitor above your head while lying down on the mattress. Very comfortable especially for long hours of coding. Doesn't cost too much to set it up like that. When you're done fold your mattress away and you have your original setup!

I have heard that what one does at a place (and maybe in a certain position in general such ad lying down), e.g. in bed on one's phone, one associates a feeling to that place. So, if one also sleeps there, one may have issues with sleeping, as the body may be confused as to whether be awake or asleep. I say this so you can be aware if you notice problems such as having low quality sleep or having a harder time falling asleep.

But i just can't find the correct mount to hold the monitor horizontally so that the monitor lays 100% horizontal above your head. working in the desk is impossible to me , it hurts my back and my foot back bone , using something to lift my legs doesn't work cuz they become numb after a while . So I 've been studying in my bed for a year and dude , i can work for a whole day painless , numbless ... this whole working in bed makes your brain go "oh bed is for sleep" is a myth to me rn . I suggest people to try working/studying in bed , it's a game changer especially for ppl who feel pain in any area after a while. But for this position you are suggesting , it doesn't work for me , it made me have headaches because of the eyes position . especially using electronics . I'm someone who doesn't my phone unless I'm sitting no matter what because of that.

I know you are using a couch but I accomplished the same thing using an adjustable power base in my bedroom and I've got to say it takes away the cons to an extent. The ability to live the entire head of the bed makes it so I'm not as flat and can help with the sleepiness. Raising the feet give me better ergonomics and a better placement for the keyboard. And the massage feature is just an excellent bonus.

I'm working on my cough, too, and I do agree it's much more ergonomic a position than working at an office desk. Unfortunately, I have not found any keyboards ergonomic enough yet. I think the main problem is that manufacturers are obsessed with the idea it has to be a *board*. Why not, for instance, a ball, or some spheric form in general? So I'm constantly having wrist and elbow pain. Perhaps a less flat keyboard could solve your scrotch pressure problem, too :) Well, perhaps I should learn some electronics, and build a keyboard of my own.

HEY- When I saw the setup and thought it was a supposed to be a joke I was still inspired. As someone dealing with neck pain (mainly "text neck"), I immediately saw value in your couch setup and will hopefully build something similar for my bed. I got a new job at the beginning of covid and had many lifestyle changes- a lot of sitting at my desk and other activities that constantly tightened my neck and upper back. After over a year and half of dealing with a serious case of text neck, I have learned something SOOO important for my work station setup(s). The chiropractor I was going to drilled it into my head that I need to RAISE my monitors. I had a couple dual arm monitor stands, but I had to buy another couple sets that had the ability to go taller. Now when I'm viewing the middle of each monitor, I'm sitting with perfect posture with my eyes looking straight ahead on a level plane. I also try to move whatever I'm working on/reading toward the top of the monitor so I'm looking slightly upward. This has made a DRAMATIC difference in how my neck feels. I really screwed it up by pushing through the discomfort and pain, but I'm finally getting on the other side of it- stretching would probably help too, but I'm too lazy for that. Just a tip for anyone dealing with neck pain- it's probably because you're sitting at your desk in one (terrible) position for hours and hours a day!!!

I have been thinking about this for a long time, although I would do it with a projector like you have in your bedroom. I just feel like laying position isn't any better than sitting position for health? It's certainly better for hips, back and neck in a way, but also you get sleepy a lot and blood circulation would be even slower. That's what bothers me, because I feel like I would gain weight like that easily, because there's even less movement in that position than normally.
