holding the eject button doesn't always remove a stuck game. Sometimes you may have to hold down both the Eject and the Power buttons at the same time and then connect it to the power source. This help me, the light will go blue and then an internal fan will blow for about 10 to 20 seconds. By this time the CD should be ejected. Also holding the power button after connecting to the power source can help go into safe mode, which requires holding down the Power button whilst green until 2 beeps are heard from your console. On Safe mode, select the 3rd option which is 'Restore File System'...System will clean itself up, clear all corrupt files and the console should start as normal after this procedure

Yes, wanted to play this morning (have not used my PS3 for a while) only to find out that the red light was gone. Took the power cord out and in again, reg light came on and started to play GTA5. After only 5 min. it went out, just like if the power cord had been removed. Took the power cord out and in again, then started to play again, same thing after a few minutes... Unbelievable but it works in 2023. I was depressed and had no hope. All other videos saying u gotta replace motherboard psu and whatnot but simplest fix was not among the top searches unfortunately. I just tried your method on a fat ps3 & it worked. I was having issues with the game ‘Red Dead Redemption’. I had to restart the game each time it loaded & crashed. Applies to me too. My PS3 Slim would shut down during gameplay. Around 10-40 minutes depending on which game I play. The only exceptions are GTA V disc version and the digital games. I could play GTA V fine for the whole day if I wanted to, but not any other game.

When I play old games like, past CoD games, past Assassin's Creed games or just any old games my PS3 can stay on for the whole day, but when it comes to new games such as AC Rogue, LBP3 or Advanced Warfare it turns off by itself in like a few minutes of gaming, never has it lasted an hour with a new game inside.

In my case it was the optical drive being bad connected. I opened again and connected it better and started working fine again. Hope it helps ( probably other parts being bad connected can cause this issue too )

The fix for this is one of two things the capacitors are bad or the psu fuse is bad, what you can do is open the ps3 and take out and open the psu, inside you will see two trimpots(ps3 slim psu only) turn them both maybe a millimeter or two to the left, this will drop the power consumption of the psu and will allow it to work again when this fix fails you need to replace the psu or find the original fault.

Heyo, idk if you’ll ever see this, and there’s probably no fix. Anyways, I turn on my ps3, and the power works fine. If I EVER got the video to work, it sometimes randomly shut off at times, probably when it was working too hard. That may be this same issue. But my real problem is this: I turn on the PS3. The light turns green and there’s not any issues with it turning on. But there’s no video when I turn it on. Whenever I got it to work before, it took at least 20-30, even upwards of 70 turn ons and offs for it to work first time. Also, I noticed, whenever I got the video to work, this little orange-ish yellow-ish light would come on at the bottom left front of the PS3. Not sure what that means, but whenever it worked, that would flash and flash for the time it was working. Whenever it does not work, which recently has been always, that yellowish orangeish light has not come on. I’m really not sure what’s going on but it’s not good lol. Let me know if anyone had had this problem before and or how to fix it, it would be much appreciated. Thank you!

This is a power supply unit (psu) issue best to replace for about £10/$16 but can be fixed easy for free if you feel comfortable taking the console apart.

Use the Playstation Recovery Menu 1. Turn off Playstation®3. 2. Hold The power button down, the system will turn on, beep a couple of times, then turn itself off. 3. Once the System has been shutdown, re-press you finger until you hear 2 consecutive beeps 4. When you hear the 2 beeps take finger off power button. 5. You will be promted to plug in your controller via usb and then hit the PS button 6. The Recovery menu will pop up.

Didn't help me. Thanks anyway though. It was worth a try. Mine will run a few minutes and instantly shut off without warning. To solid Red light. Looked around inside, pretty clean. I also was going to try a power supply "fix" I saw on another video, but mine is a little different. So I've ordered a new power supply, same model as mine on ebay. I didn't work for me but then I held the power button for 30 seconds while it was blinking (it stops blinking once you press it), then pressed the eject button and it worked. It ejected my disk and turned on. It's been on for about 5 minutes now and still working. Thanks at least for the idea!

PS3 and PS4 is so crappy. They don't even last that long. I had my ps3 since 2012 and I took good care of it, made sure the vents and inside is dust free and mine's just died. Only lasted 8 years. I got my PS2 back in 2004 and it still works great and my PS1 I got in 1999 and still works today.

my ps3 have exact the same problem that you got before and i followed your tut but not working for me, i tried to change power suply cover board hdd almost everything i think.. stil no go

Stoliie if it is a fatty hold the ps3 power button down till u hear 3 beeps after the inicial beep like "power on beep then a few seconds later beep ........beep beep" then go to restart ps3 option because that will put the ps3 in safe mode so select restart ps3 then tell me what happens. this works on the fatty but im not sure about the slim

I have a FAT one and it did this too. I remembered it said on the screen, shout down correctly at user profile .. it is stupid .. i did of course shutting down .. but the way you talked about it worked .. but it has risk of electricity shock when you plug in back the cable ! It can happen with any device not only ps3 !

I put a game into my ps3, then it shuts off without any beeping. Later it does what you described and I tried what you said. It didn't work, any help? edit: The game iddn't go fully into the ps3 but I can't pull it out, I assume it's the PSU?

Thanks, this is the first time I have had trouble with my ps3 since I brought it in 2009 lol so got a bit panicky as I still play it. I had to give it a good blow 🌬 out as dust was causing it to have the problem, I been forgetting to dust it and check cause of work.

thats funny to me because i went through about 5 360's with the red ring of death and most people i know who had the 360 had the same problem. they are machines and will eventually break down.

My ps3 has a problem when some games like uncharted 3 don’t load some sections leaving a weird outside to areas in game and quitting the game to go on something like KZbin makes it crash and turn off with 3 beeps occurring

I tried this, it did not work. after some testing I found that the console freezes when you select the game icons for your installed games.....not when you click them, but when you hover over them and it plays the game's music. strangely enough, the PS3 loads up the games fine if you click it fast without letting it play the game music in the XMB. also, it freezes and shuts itself off when playing videos from Hulu

update: I signed into PSN and it stopped happening. I can't say whether that was the problem, but it is the ONLY thing I changed

This remedy worked perfect the 1st time I tried it somewhere in 2013-2014 and praised your Name,however the same problem has reappeared recently but this time it doesn't want to fix itself but I am still able to play my fat ps3 thanks to you but after struggling to switch it on hoping it doesn't turn itself off after trying to switch it on, for about 1minute to 5mins.

The issue with my ps3 is that it works fine for about 30 minutes or so, but then it shuts off automatically. Then, i turn it on again and it works for about 40 minutes and then turns off by itself. I think it works, but i don't know what is causing the problem.

they need to make the consoles as big as a pc tower if thats what it takes to keep them cool or put a liquid cooled heatsink on them
