Few days back, I visited Isha Yoga Center and had an opportunity to as a question to Sadhguru. I asked a question that’s been on my mind for years about the Invasions that happened to India and it’s effects on Indian Culture. And the answer given by Sadhguru is something very unexpected!

Fanatic Islamic invaders were very few, that too only in North India. That too over gaps of centuries. And they didn't try to convert population, as it was impossible in India. Most of other normal Muslim rulers who ruled over India didn't interfere in personal lives of inhabitants, and some of them such as Illyas Shahi dynasty of Bengal, or Zia Abedin of Kashmir, or even Akbar, even promoted Indian languages and Hindu religions. Allaudin Ahmed Shah of Bengal was even a fanboy of saint Chaitanya. Hindu nationalists exaggerate the 'destruction'. Even Hindu/Jain rulers burnt entire cities and temples/stupas,etc when they fought serious wars.

There is no untouchability as well it was an evil entered in our society due to kaliyuga . Even ravana become a Brahmin by mastering Vedas he was rakshask . Lord Krishna become dwarikadish and sudama and Krishna both went to gurukul together . Sudama was a son of priest and he was poor . Gurukuls don't take money they just ask for gurudakshina to test capabilities of their discipline.

Fantastic question sister! I am from Uttar Pradesh, I live in Chennai right now and I sometimes envy South Indians on how beautifully they kept their most of the culture alive that we lost in North India as the results of such invasions. One of the thing that I have noticed is about going to the temples..... You will notice in North India most people go to temple worship the deity and just come outside the temple complex and in South India people usually sit inside the temple complex get relaxed, talk spend sometime and then come outside as if they are recharging themselves.... I am glad these practices are getting restored by various foundations like Isha foundation, Iskon, Baps etc.

@@vinayk171 Absolutely and without doubt 🔥- . The Maratha empire starting with Sivaji Maharaj came much later around 1600s. Vijayanagara Empire under Srikrishnadevaraya the Great reached it's height in late 1400s and drove the muslim invaders out of Deccan.

@SanataniRajput Yes I am 100% accurate. Yes there were independent Rajput kingdoms putting up fights. But by 1300s Bahamani Sultanate had already passed the Rajputs and became established in Deccan. To stop the combined muslim armies from moving further south a unified resistance was needed that spread from East to West. After the Battle of Tarain the Rajputs did not put up a combined force. Vijayanagara Empire was able to put up that unified resistance for nearly 300 years. It outlasted the Bahman kings and later fought the 5 deccan sultanates. Also don't forget that many Rajput kingdoms actually co-operated with the Sultanate against their own. If Vijayanagara and Rajputana had joined hands history would have been different. Unfortunately that did not happen.

Even Hindu/Jain rulers burnt entire cities and temples/stupas,etc when they fought serious wars.
