Yup, that's a naked guy up on that pole behind the band. Hey it's the early 70's, those things happened. If you watch the whole show, he is there for most of it. "All I know, she sang a little while, and then flew on". Love ya Janis.

108 degrees & the stage facing the wrong way (into the sun)... never mind the acid. It's an amazing place (it can be seen from the air) & there's a ton of good energy in the country fair woods every year. A world that no longer exists; it was wonderful.

I too sometimes think that '72 feels like a long time ago, sometimes I can't even remember it, unbelievable... But what eases the pain of my lack of remembrance, Is the realization that I was born in the late '90s, so I don't feel too bad about it. Still good to eat your greens, though!

There's a much bigger back-story to Sunshine Daydream than discussed. As some mentioned it's also on DVD. The GD did this concert to support a struggling dairy business a friend's family owned in Oregon. Recorded in multi-track and was an awesome concert. Was also a very hot day for Oregon. Water was scarce. Personally, my fav on this show was China-Rider, but Birdsong is also a really good listen!

i’m so glad the music moved you in the same way that it does to me. i have plenty of suggestions but i’ll just do 3 hopefully that isn’t too many. he’s gone from 5/26/73, originally kind of a fuck you song to their former manager who stole their money and the manager happened to be one of the drummers dad, but it eventually morphed into a tribute to their fallen friends, this one is the first one after the death of a founding who was called pigpen (sidenote, he had a little relationship with janis joplin, so there’s a connection kinda!) but the piano throughout and the jam at the end of the song just make me weep every time. here’s a link to it: m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/apnFm4ZmjcyphrM my second suggestion is the other one from 5/2/70, this a way more upbeat and high energy song, and it really showcases a different side of jerry on guitar, he’s a monster honestly, in a good way! link! : m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/q6aklqZmqLmMl7M the 3rd suggestion is eyes of the world from 8/6/74! it feels like a warm summer day with a cool breeze, just very sweet! link!: m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/rKvLop-pg5eriNU hope you enjoy!

Anyone who sings a tune so sweet Is passin' by Laugh in the sunshine, sing Cry in the dark, fly through the night Don't cry now, don't you cry Don't you cry anymore, la, la, la, la Sleep in the stars, don't you cry Dry your eyes on the wind, la, la, la, la If you hear that same sweet song again Will you know why? Someone please get this woman a shirt with a marching bear on it, please 💀⚡️ P.S., since you love listening to music in your car, take a drive near sunset sometime with Dark Star > St. Stephen > The Eleven > Turn on Your Love Light from 1969 'Live/Dead.' They were recorded at 2 different shows about a month apart, but the band felt strongly enough about them to fill the first 3 sides of their first-ever album of officially released live material with them. Really sensational snapshots of the end of their more heavy psychedelic years.
